AYU'S PRIDE

in my opinion,PRIDE is such a song just goes for those school chorus. everytime my CD missunderstood reaches this song, i just skip without hesitation. anyway,i'd talk a little bout its lyrics that ayu wrote. i thought she might be too weird. people are in envy of her freedom. so she answers:"doesnt it matter that i couldnt find the meaning of living?" i feel so cold~ on the contrary, i've found the meaning of living and i'm just struggling for freedom. it seems that ayu has wasted her freedom that didnt comes easy! why does she doubt whether it's right of us human beings to persue things we dont have all the time? or,how can we improve ourselves?:no
well then,at last, i'd shout out: CREA,come back! HAL,come back! single with remixes,come back! trance album,come back!:headache

Jer Sieu 7th July 2006 06:21 AM

Not sure what you mean but I'll have to say usually, no one are COMPLETELY satisfied with the things they have... Usually, everyone envies (some don't) someone else of what they have... IMO, Ayu ALREADY has freedom (according to what you said) and didn't realise other people has been searching for freedom for a long time... THat's what I think... And as I said, not sure what u meant..

Btw, Pride is a nice song.. :D

cybermoomba 7th July 2006 06:28 AM

I don't understand what you're trying to say :yconfused

emi♡ 7th July 2006 06:42 AM

i also don't get it...are you saying that the lyrics are wierd that she's contradicting herself?

mmm, I see your position
well, I never clealry understood all Ayumi lyrics
they were always weird for me
:D
actually...mmm, I'm confused too!
:yes

immel 7th July 2006 11:26 AM

I never liked this song as much as the other on the (m)u album untill I saw it live.

<3 Pride

alternarist 7th July 2006 11:51 AM

another of this thread.. lol.. anyway, Pride is the most saddest song i have ever heard. as in the tune.

AyUmIXx 7th July 2006 12:30 PM

i love PRIDE..
show something that powerful~

Mad_Cactuar 7th July 2006 12:38 PM

o__o Your post is very confusing.
"Doesnt it matter that i couldnt find the meaning of living?" is a very good line too. Overall, I love Pride's lyrics. It's very meaningful.

ohsixthirty 7th July 2006 04:38 PM

i'm confused...but Pride is my favorite song on (m)u.

AyuGAME 8th July 2006 01:42 AM

i think this song was way too american
so thats the point people hate it
but that era has gone and she has back with her usual style...and we love it!

emi♡ 8th July 2006 01:59 AM

^^perhaps it was just Geo.

I think it's good that Ayu portrays her love of American culture. It shows us more of who she is.

basically, the poster is saying that he doesn't like the lyrics to pride since s/he feels that ayu shouldn't be debating the meaning of her existance with all the freedom that she has--the same freedom that ordinary people struggle to obtain. He feels that ayu is wasting her time by debating such questions since ayu worked hard for her position and should enjoy where she is. Finally, the poster doesn't like how ayu seems to "judge" us when she questions why ordinary people strive for material things or how we should be improving ourselves.

Better? I don't know whether some things are what the poster meant, but I tried to read inbetween the lines as little as possible so I can give a clearer/unbiased picture..

elepop 8th July 2006 02:15 AM

Actually, I doubt Ayu has more freedom than "ordinary" people...

How does she have more freedom than ordinary people?

True. We don't have paperazzis follow us around. We don't have people scruitinize our every move. We don't have tabloids making fake rumours about us. Not at least to the extent she faces. I mean, when was the last time someone posted something nationwide about you getting drunk in a gay bar?

Personally, I love Pride because it's not a mellow ballad. It's strong and powerful.

Risky Lotus 8th July 2006 04:32 AM

What?

Whatever you're trying to say, that's actually one of the few tracks I actually bother to listen to on that CD. :shrug

AyUmIXx 8th July 2006 04:36 AM

maybe she wanted to tell people to keep their pride as high as they could no matter what happen, instead of herself, can't get a 100% freedom or pride??
her (miss)understood album is full of encouraging kind of songs..
like ayu has ever said on an interview on CD DATA or somewhere..
she said (miss)understood means someone who understand others problems...
she wanted to help other people but she can't help herself, like getting herself freedom????

woww..am i too far?

I think the topic creator meant freedom as in material freedom. Ayu can do anything she wants with regards to money..

Yukitora 8th July 2006 07:35 AM

After that rather confusing little read, my only reponse is:

Why is it bad that she is writing such lyrics? It's the nature of "ordinary people" to had preduice against celebrities thinking that have everything and should be grateful for it, but they can still have "ordinary people" visions like us to.

The problem is, many people like to read lyrics with a bias view. If they don't like the song or the current state of the artist, it's unlikely that they will accept to lyrics as well... (whenever I read her lyrics, I amazed say how awesome it is, when in reality, it's not always the case :P)

Nevada 8th July 2006 09:06 AM

I actually like the song. The last lyric is one of the most powerful I've heard from her..

norain 8th July 2006 09:16 AM

Let us all take a moment to remember this very special line with those who don't understand the language they listen to...

"LOST, in translation" :-D

Jer Sieu 8th July 2006 10:00 AM

@AyuGame : What do you mean too "American"?

All her lyrics are weird? Lol, I never thought her lyrics were weird... For me, they are meaningful... :P

I think what Ayu is saying quite clearly in that song, is that no matter what your station is in life, whether you are an "ordinary" person or someone famous like her, we all want things we can't have. Like she points out that "ordinary people strive for material things", but that even with her station and ability to get any material thing she wants, she still is not satisfied. She's not saying it in terms of Celebrities are better than normal people, she is saying that this is a general trait of mankind no matter who you are.

heyheyderek 8th July 2006 11:17 AM

i don't think ayu has much freedom
She is such a big star that she can't go everywhere that she wants to go~
She is always busy at work and has no time to relax
Perhaps this makes her feel herself lacking freedom

hopeorpain 9th July 2006 12:26 AM

I think ayueyes doesn't like "Pride" very much, lol. But for me it's a good song because of the deep and meaningful lyrics, and of course Ayu's emotional singing. It's certainly different from everything else she has done, but definitely not a bad song.

Also I think in the lyrics Ayu is questioning people's first intuitions about their desires, and perhaps her own?

ayueyes 9th July 2006 06:21 AM

mmm, well.i know what I want to say but maybe I have difficulty in putting it across that had made some of you "(miss)understood"~lol~
i dont mean her lyrics is weird, i like this meaningful and thoughtful style. i just discontented about her answer to the little girl that asked her.
and,to tell the truth about the tune and arrangement, i'm not into this kind- somebody called it American style?i never know.i just remember my schoolmates in school chorus always sing this kinda songs. Anyway, this is not her original style, the most appropriate for her should be songs like evolution or is this love..

michiAki 9th July 2006 06:27 AM

pride is a nice song

May be its just coincidence... Anyway, there are english song which actually sound like Ayu's song... I'm sorry... Couldn't explain further cuz I really DID "missunderstood" and still don't understand...

So what do you consider a song sounds "japanese"? Evolution? Is that what you mean?

Thanks for the translation.. But can you tell what he meant by "school chorus"? o__O

Ani_C 9th July 2006 07:03 PM

I just saw the lyrics rite now and all I have to say is WOW they are amazing :D

chameber80218 12th July 2006 07:32 PM
