Oh haha, I think L.A.M.B. was a superb album! I didn't like it though on first listen, though it sounded to technotronic. But after giving a few more tries, yup, it's superb!

I first heard about her in No Doubt way back then and I'm glad her solo career is soaring to new heights. I'm definitely a fan of her music, she's got me hooked with L.A.M.B. it's like an opus of her music composition!

Mad_Cactuar 16th July 2006 06:28 AM

There's like 2 or 3 threads devoted to Gwen here though..

I'm a big fan, memorized every track off L.A.M.B. already. :D I really love Luxurious, Bubble Pop Electric and Danger Zone.

Dustie 16th July 2006 11:00 AM

I don't really listen to her and I haven't listened to her whole album, but the impression I get after the singles is really positive. I was impressed by the videos "What are you waiting for?" and "Rich girl", as well as I liked the r'n'b and rap mixture she did for her songs.

One thing I found a bit disturbing was how she incorporated the whole Japanese "things"; the Harajuku girls, her Japanese 'su-pa-kawa-II' 'Harasshhuku' 'Tokiiou', and also, her recent single 'Luxurious'.

"Working hard every night and day and now we get the payback." To me it sounded like 'Yeah, look how hard we work being stars and celebrities, it's sooo hard for us. It's US who works their butt off so WE deserve it all.' But there's so many people out there who work their butts off and get barely any reward for it, don't say like it's only showbusiness people that work hard...

That's my favourite track.. :yes To me, it sounded normal, like a love song where she's talking to her boyfriend or something..

The one annoying thing would be the fact she kept on advertising her clothing line in the tracks. She mentioned L.A.M.B. in Rich Girl, Crash, Harajuku Girls..

Dustie 17th July 2006 01:06 PM

On the first pic the cuteness is mixed with gothicness too much, IMO.
But yeah, her "Harajuku" Girls aren't really much Harajuku... with all that makeup they don't even look much Asian...

Luckily people didn't really pick up her Japan/Harajuku obsession...

Mad_Cactuar 17th July 2006 01:22 PM

The girls in the second piccy are soooo adorable.

Mad_Cactuar 19th July 2006 05:18 AM

Gwen's next album is gonna be at the end of this year, right? She recorded with Pharell and stuff. Plus I heard that Wind It Up would be the next single, but somehow it got retracted.

Celaphorce 19th July 2006 07:56 AM

I loved L.A.M.B., but I let my stepbrother borrow it, and the cd case was cracked, cd ruined, and booklet torn(which was my favorite of all), and he's 23! I'm so mad, but I love Gwen her voice is so amazing, I love her music too, Cool was like a sort of rearranged mis of Running(I think that's what it's called I know I had the cd Rock Steady from No Doubt, but that got messed up too for the same reasons. Oh well.

Cyria 19th July 2006 12:42 PM

I hadn't heard that there was going to be a new No Doubt album. It's nice that she's still going to work with them even though her solo album was a big hit.

Gwen's been looking pretty lovely in pics taken after her son's birth.

Mad_Cactuar 19th July 2006 03:42 PM

^ Awww, cutee....

Scrapped? :weep I was anticpating it..

Cyria 19th July 2006 04:06 PM

My favourites of the Gwen pics I've seen recently:

http://img48.imageshack.us/img48/540...jul1406bk7.png http://img56.imageshack.us/img56/1360/gwensc1.jpg

The first is from a charity event for disabled children that she, Gavin and Kingston attended. The second is Gwen visiting Eve at a recording studio, July 13th.

Cyria 19th July 2006 04:34 PM

It's almost disappointingly predictable. :) When the pregnancy was announced, a lot of people said that Gwen would be one of the most stylish celeb moms and, well, yes.

Dustie 20th July 2006 12:17 PM

The thing she wears on the second pic looks kimono-ish o.o

Norrel 5th August 2006 10:49 PM

Yay, a Gwen thread!

Norrel 6th August 2006 01:10 AM

Hope she loses the weight though x.x

spookshow 6th August 2006 03:55 AM

I absolutely love Gwen and her Harajuku girls! I wanna be able to dress like that and get away with it!

Norrel 6th August 2006 03:59 AM

Has anyone heard her song that leaked? Or for that matter all on the songs on the Asian Special release?

Norrel 6th August 2006 04:06 AM

I think the song that leaked is called All Nighter. It's Reggae.

Then there are like 5 - 7 only released as re-releases of LAMB or performed at the concert.

spookshow 6th August 2006 04:32 AM

^ yeah I heard that "all nighter" song, but I didn't really like it

explodingbird 21st October 2006 05:55 AM

Yay. Can't wait - Love.Angel.Music.Baby was an awesome album... candy and carnivals, eh?

Oh, and:

Quote:

A: You’re gonna love this record.

DJs: When’s it coming out?

A: I promise you this record gonna hit #1.
I find that hilarious for some reason. HE SAID WHEN IS THE DAMN ALBUM COMING OUT, YOU TWIT?!

I remember hearing Candyland like last year, though. Hope it's not on the album as I've heard. That song sucked.

Mad_Cactuar 21st October 2006 07:36 AM

I heard Orange County Girl too but the live version and I didn't like it. I'm sure the studio version will blow me away though. Yep, album's out December 4/5 as stated in wiki together with a list of songs produced. I can't wait for Wind It Up, the supposed single cover looks real pretty.

drewbilation 21st October 2006 07:58 AM

Yay new album. Boo for Akon, though. His voice bugs the **** out of me.

From what I understand, he's normally very sucky. However, all I've heard him on so far is india.arie's I Am Not My Hair, which is an amazing song, and I thought he sounded great on there (although maybe that was because india's amazing and she made him better? I dunno), so... we'll see.

Mad_Cactuar 21st October 2006 08:04 AM

Akon's biggest hit "Mr Lonely" is the worst crap you will ever listen.

I should listen to that India.Arie song..

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 21st October 2006 08:22 AM

^ so very true

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 22nd October 2006 03:55 AM

Watch Out Fergie!!

You can't beat the real thing.

The original is back!!!

Interscope has finally confirmed that Gwen Stefani is indeed releasing a new album this year and they reveal the name and release date.

The new mom's The Sweet Escape will be released on December 5th.

Her first single, Wind it Up is a Sound of Music meets hip hop track produced by Pharrell Williams, who also worked with Gwen on her massively successful Hollaback Girl track.

The song is expected to premiere on radio this coming week and a video is currently being shot in LA with choreographer Sho-Time.

In addition to Pharrell, Miss Stefani also worked with such collaborators as Akon, Nelle Hooper and Tim Rice-Oxley of Keane.

Of her new album, Gwen says, "This is definitely another dance record but the sound has evolved a lot over the last two years as I've gone in and out of the studio. It's more melodic and very modern."

Zexy!!!

Mad_Cactuar 22nd October 2006 05:18 AM

Wind It Up was in Ukraine or something around April/May this year. Strange eh? I actually voted for that song to appear.

explodingbird 12th November 2006 11:05 PM

Maybe someone can merge the other Gwen threads with this one?

Summing it up:

Love Wind It Up and the video - very cool and fun.

HATE the album cover. What the hell is with her shoulder? Everyone's using that blue background! Her, Ciara, Loreena McKennitt... okay, just those three (although Ciara's cover was cool and Loreena's was awesome).

Saw her perform Wind It Up live on some UK show (found it on YouTube).

Holy mother, SHE SUCKS LIVE.

explodingbird 21st November 2006 03:39 AM

Bump! The album leaked, folks. I just downloaded and am currently listening. It's fun to try and find if you know where and where not to look.

Now, I haven't gotten past Wind It Up yet, but... I'm expecting and hoping for good things. I'll post back later with impressions.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 21st November 2006 03:41 AM

It leaked a while ago and Wind it up is certainly not the best song on the album, there are many other better one's

'Wonderful Life', 'Flourescent', 'Early Winter', 'Breakin' Up' and 'Don't Get It Twisted' = Awesome just like popjustice said.

explodingbird 21st November 2006 03:45 AM

I'm on Orange County Girl, which is okay so far. The Sweet Escape was barely decent. Akon needs to shut the hell UP. He was so great on india.arie's I Am Not My Hair, then... this. WOOOOHOOOO. YEEEEEEEHOOOOOO! STFU Akon.

Echoed_Memories 21st November 2006 03:45 AM

I just heard 'Wind It Up', & it's so addicting!

I didn't think I would like it ; I actually thought it was too eccentric for my tastes, but I ended up loving it!! :luv2

explodingbird 21st November 2006 04:07 AM

I'm torn between love and hate on Yummy, and the version of 4 in the Morning I have is a bit fuzzy but it does sound cool. Same for Early Winter.

BUT HOLY CRAP. I think Fluorescent = love, at least right now. Reminds me of Serious + Crash. Very Kylie Minogue/80's pop. AWESOME.

So far the album is very... wavery. Good, middling, and bad. And some very good. I dunno. I hope it all grows on me in the end. Except the title track - ew. But oh, man, Fluorescent is amazing. Next single. Seriously. Now.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 21st November 2006 04:25 AM

^ I <3 fluoresecent too, but it feel like a filler song.

what is this about? why so rude?

explodingbird 21st November 2006 07:48 AM

Hmm. Yummy sounds a LOT like ]Milkshake.

And some songs give me a bit of a headache, though that may be because I'm sick. But it is a noisy album, god.

Mad_Cactuar 25th November 2006 03:45 AM

This album has a lot of cohesion and the music matches the cover and art I say, just like L.A.M.B which is impressive.

I like this album a lot, but it kinda dissapointed me because all the songs weren't very varied, unlike L.A.M.B's. L.A.M.B is still a feat for me, it was a bunch of very different songs but they all fitted the CD so well.

Wonderful Life, Yummy, Fluorescent = <3

theprojectzero 25th November 2006 08:01 AM

Lovely! Can't wait! Can't wait!

Gwen gunna kick Fergie is true! That's official! ;) Hehe...

Mad_Cactuar 25th November 2006 08:43 AM

Yes, Gwen will come back and kick Fergie off her place. Fergie was over-inspired L.A.M.B I can see. =/ The cholas idea are similar to the Harajuku girls concept. Even London seems to be used as an inspiration much like Gwen used Japan.

Miku 25th November 2006 05:37 PM

I love her alot..she's one of my favorite singer :)
I have not heard her new album yet.:(
love her with No doubt :)

Weslicious 25th November 2006 08:02 PM

Fergie may have been inspired by Gwen, but Gwens kinda 'returned the favour'.

If I hadn't known I was listening to Gwen then that bit in @Now That You Gout It' with the purple heart, I would have put money on it being Fergie :innocent:

The Sweet Escape has grown on me as a whole. As an album it works better than LAMB, but it has few standout tracks unlike its predecessor.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 25th November 2006 10:31 PM

After listening to this album some more, I can conclude I absolutely love "Wonderful life" and "Breakin' Up" also "Don't get it twisted" but not as much.

Exactly the same way I feel about the CD. More cohesion, less brilliance.

Nothing as clever as What You Waiting For here. Nothing as daft as Hollaback Girl too.

Miku 26th November 2006 09:29 AM

I just love her new album~!
favosong is Early Winter the song is really good :)

Halla 26th November 2006 10:08 AM

Gwen Stefani eager to have another baby
Singer Gwen Stefani has spoken about her future, saying that she prays that she can have another baby.

The 37-year-old star gave birth to a baby boy, whom she named Kingston James McGregor Rossdale, in May.

Speaking about her desire to have another child, she told USA Today: "I pray that I can have another baby."

"I mean, it's such a miracle to have one. And there's so much I still want to do, because who knows?"

"Things could be a lot harder a few years from now. I mean, I'm not at the beginning of my career. I'm on a ticking clock. And I don't want to miss anything," she said.

Speaking about her son, the singer said: "He's this very cool, chilled-out little guy. He's just like another person, except that he's super-cute and super-entertaining."

awww. I hope Gwen does have another baby

Is Gwen Stefani Pregnant with Second Child?
Written by Chatty Kathy
Sunday, 24 December 2006
Many celebrity insiders are speculating that Gwen Stefani and her husband Gavin Rossdale will be having a second child very soon. Online sportsbook giant Bodog.com has posted odds at -160 that the announcement will be made before June 15th, 2007. The couple paid $15.5 million for a Beverly Hills mansion formerly owned by Jennifer Lopez and Marc Anthony. The power couple plan to raise a family in the new digs. The mansion has four bedrooms, seven bathrooms and an infinity pool.

Stefani recently expressed her desire for more children, saying, "I pray that I can have another baby." Stefani and Rossdale already have one son named Kingston James.

Gwen Stefani found herself back in a recording studio this summer only about three months after giving birth to Kingston. The first single from her second solo album, "Wind It Up," is at No. 7 on Billboard's Hot 100.

"After I got pregnant, I didn't know if I'd ever put this record out," she said recently from Las Vegas, shortly before performing the album's first single, "Wind It Up," at the Billboard Music Awards. Her fans are very happy she did.
