Are You Wake Up?

people that says ayu has bad english put this song as an example... but i can't get the correct title for this :S for me it is good english xD so wich would be the correct title for this song? :tconfused

micster 18th August 2006 10:30 PM

Are You Wake Up is the title, the title is engrish

To be correct it would be Are You Awake but that would not go to the music and dosent sound good

ohsixthirty 18th August 2006 10:43 PM

oh, thats what she means? i never realized it was engrish for "are you awake." lol. i don't pay attention i guess.

kinix 18th August 2006 10:49 PM

I like "Ayu wake up" better ^^

*Petit* 18th August 2006 10:50 PM

Luckily it's only an interlude. She doesen't have a lot of engrish other than that has she? STEP you is the only other example I can think of, and it's really not that grave. In Real Me it was alright and also in Heartplace.

oro77 18th August 2006 11:54 PM

Lol I didn't even notice. Anyway this interlude is for me the best she has done so far.

Yarumi 19th August 2006 02:21 AM

yeah Are you Wake Up was a weird title because I'm not sure what they mean... Are You Awake is the biggest possible scenerio... but the Engrish is funny!

i like STEP you title, it is so creative :) it needs interpretation, i think the idea was "next step: you" but it was so lon... "STEP you" is more simple :D

alt.total-loser 19th August 2006 05:59 AM

Yes, Are You Wake Up? is supposed to be Are You Awake?
I always thought STEP you could've been like you step.

Kodayumi 19th August 2006 06:51 AM

Are You Wake Up is the title...tho it sounds like broken english XD

HiruNoKaze 19th August 2006 07:38 AM

I think STEP you refers to like...the steps of loving and getting to know someone. You could say it's talking about human relationships in general.

ROFL when I read "next step: you" hahahaha kudos to you slowmoth
it's like some kind of horrible pick up line from hell hhahahah

Dustie 19th August 2006 02:21 PM

I thought she just meant stepping on you. Like instead of 'damn you' or 'f... you', she'd say 'step you' i.e. wishing that somebody would step on that person as a form of punishment.

HiruNoKaze 19th August 2006 06:57 PM

HAHAHAH I could so see that...but it's so profane lol

spacelion 20th August 2006 02:40 AM

Are you wake up? is a mistranslation/interpretation, Ayu has that on some songs like TO BE, which is a mistraslation/interpreation of "iroyo" supposed to be "was there" makes sense with the chorus of the song.

HiruNoKaze 20th August 2006 02:46 AM

^"iro yo" or "iru yo"?

I've heard evolution cited as a mistranslation of "era" at least twice on AHS.

I wonder if that's what it was supposed to be, she just thought it'd be too [Ayu] original. I wonder... :shrug

AyuGAME 22nd August 2006 03:10 AM

you're...awesome.:D

fεяnαndδ 22nd August 2006 03:40 PM

Her Engrish titles have never really bothered me.

ayu1m 22nd August 2006 03:42 PM

^Yep, same goes here..

I find them quite funny and cute :p And they bring that some sort personality to those songs

fεяnαndδ 22nd August 2006 03:44 PM

But when an artist starts abusing the occasional 'cuteness' of Engrish, it starts getting annoying~

ayu1m 22nd August 2006 03:56 PM

Yep I guess that's true, but in this case IMO Ayu hasnt over used them
so it's still cute ;P

Diana 22nd August 2006 10:10 PM

Yup ^^ I agree

Actually since she came out with Step You around the same time as Ciaras 1.2 Step and Ayu actually says 1 2 STEP YOU in the song I think it's more like that. Like the dance move of the "1 2 Step" that Ciara sings about OR Like STEP UP TO YOU. Like, walk up to you.

But, thats just my Opinion.

Deep snow 27th August 2006 03:13 AM

i think ayu was about to name that song "Get Your Hands Up" (we can hear voices saying "Get Your Hands Up" in the song several times right?), and maybe she was meant to be funny, so she started to find another title that sounds like "Get Your Hands Up", and thanks to her bad english, she came up with the title "Are You Wake Up?", i think it fits, but then again, it's just what i think...

and i think ayu's interpretation of STEP you, is "follow me", it's like... i want you to STEP (to follow my move), because i read several discussions in AHS about the slip of chinese-translation lyrics in the STEP you/is this LOVE? single, it translates the title "STEP you" as "To Follow"

lol! It would be both amusing and awesome if Ayu had that instead of 'Are You Wake Up'. It's like everytime Ayu sees that title, she thinks, yes.. AYU! I should wake up!

I thought Ciara's "1 2 Step" is titled "Want to Step".
