What clothes brands does Ayu use?

1 Attachment(s)
So yeah, do you know what clothes brands she uses? And do you like them?

Many of ther clothes look like they've been specially designed for her (like those with "A" symbol) but there are also many which are some real brands. I've seen "MTRLG" in some of her clothes... I believe it means "Material Girl", right? Then I've seen a couple of t-shirts which say "CD" in them though I don't know what brand it is. So I thought I'd be cool to know!

Unfortunately I don't have the money to buy brands myself but I've noticed that many of her clothes look really pretty (and actually I made my own "A" symbol t-shirt just a while ago!). So what do you think? And do you know other brands she uses?

//oh and I made an attachment about one of those CD-shirts so you know what I mean...

*Petit* 3rd September 2006 10:48 PM

CD is in general CHristian Dior, I don't know about that t-shirt though. She also uses a LOT of Louis Vuitton. And there was a thread on the BLUE BIRD dress, but I fail to remember the name of the brand.

Isthan 3rd September 2006 10:51 PM

^ Thanks, I didn't know it was Dior... I know so little about fashion. :paperbag

And I also remember those Vuitton bags!

^ I believe the "BLUE BIRD" dress turned out to be a dress by BCBG Max Azria.

Oh! I totally forgot! Ayu also tends to wear brands like:

Von Dutch and Bathing Ape (BAPE). I personally think BAPE is overrated but I like the signature shirts and hats that Von Dutch comes out with.

devilayu 3rd September 2006 11:21 PM

You're basically looking at any high end designer fashions as far as Ayumi's formal-wear goes. That includes and is not limited to Dior, Chanel, Vuitton, Gucci, Cartier, Versace, Burberry, D&G, and any other brand that you'd see on Fifth Avenue and Rodeo Drive. For daily wear, you're looking at the mid-cost brands such as Guess by Marciano, BAPE, MTRL, 88 Tees, Diesel, etc. Keep in mind that since she is such a big star in Japan, she gets discounts at major department stores and brand flagship stores because she is walking advertisement if she wears their clothing.

I refuse to believe that she wears Guess untill I see it. :puke

And if anyone posts it I'll close my eyes.

immel 4th September 2006 05:49 AM

^LOL.

Casually I think she'd wear anything, as long as she thinks it looks good.

For photoshoots the clothing is probably arranged for her, unless it's a shoot where she decides about clothing and all that herself. I think she does for quite many of her shoots, from what I understand she seem to be in control over them. If you wonder what she is wearing for certain photoshoots it most often says in the magazine what brands she is wearing, it's often made clear for promotion reasons.

FOr those fashion shoots in the magazines (when she shows off the clothes, rather than having pictures of her own clothes) I doubt whether she even gets the clothes. It's more like a CM shot in which she acts like a model, showing off the clothes.

I would guess she also wears some japanese brands.

Kodayumi 4th September 2006 11:16 AM

Yea japanese brands which we do not know abt.=/

devilayu 4th September 2006 11:22 PM

If you read the parts about the clothes, Ayumi does actually bring her own clothes and accessories to shoots sometimes. She does it more often now than she did in the past.

Chibi_Venus 5th September 2006 01:08 AM

It makes me wonder about what Ayu's closet looks like.
Hell, she's probably got so many clothes she just uses it one day and donates it to charity and/or good will the next. She won't need a closet! :P (kidding.)

Maybe she uses an apartment or even a house as a closet. xD

LacusClyne 5th September 2006 06:16 AM

ayu hardly sticks to any brand, she switches too often

I thought Ayu did wear some of the things she had worn before...
For example, there was a thread about her wearing the same shoes from Step You in one of the [Miss]Understood booklets.
But usually, if you look carefully from earlier photoshoots, etc., that she does wear her clothes more than once.

immel 5th September 2006 02:41 PM

^Ayu does for sure, but Chibi_Venus already said she was only joking ;).

I love that she doesn't stick to any brand, gives us such a wide variety of literally everything, she doesn't endorse any special clothing label, like some other stars do, which I think can be really boring unless that label has a wide variety of styles. She switches often, but too often? Nooo never :D.

spacelion 5th September 2006 03:08 PM

I know Louis Vuitton is her favorite brand. She has Louis Vuitton everything! (clothes, luggage, purses, diary) and she is in love with the those big Dior glasses. :P

immel 5th September 2006 03:39 PM

She sure has a preference for Dior when it comes to glassess, at least recently, haha.

I don't know hat Louis Vuitton clothes look like, nor do I know what their logo looks like so I never took note of it :-O

You're missing out on so much! =X (well not really)

Louis Vuitton

You should also visit the wiki page on Louis Vuitton. Japan has in many ways been and is very important to the traditional brnad. Japanese arts inspired the monogram (during the late 19th century in europe japanese pictures and arts were very fashioable), and presently about 50% of the brand's income is generated in Japan making it the biggest market for Louis Vuitton in the world, outnumbering places like the US and Europe by far.

immel 5th September 2006 03:50 PM

Ah, thank you for the links.

I'm not that much into fashion, especially not the more expensive labels, what clothes I can't afford I try not to look at :D...

s1012h 5th September 2006 05:28 PM

she has worn those JUICY COUTURE trackpants
haha that's all i remember
and the mountains of Louis Vuitton apparel and luggage she has XD

That makes sense, I've heard of Vuitton being very popular in Japan and some girls being obsessed they spend loads of money just to have something from Louis Vuitton...

But bags, luggage, diaries [?], I don't really need this stuff lol :P

The Japanese seem particularly taken in by brand names. Because of this, European brands specifically make certain items for the Japanese market because they know someone will buy it. For instance, there are Vuitton toilet paper holders and Vuitton notepapers. It's really quite funny. And I think there are like 10 Vuitton stores in Tokyo alone. Keep in mind, these are the Vuitton-only stores. The department stores that sell Vuitton must boggle the mind. However, it's much cheaper to buy brand names in America, which is why Japanese tourists shop so much when they are in town.

THere's a list of all louis vuitton stores in both tokyo and japan on the official site. The list very very long, and I think the japan list is the only one that contains sub categories within towns. They also have stores in cities that normally woulden't have one if it was in f.ex the US or UK, or even France.

Even in France most of the customers in Louis Vuitton Stores were japanese, so at least one of the assistants had to know the language. It was quite amazing how he managed to swirch between near perfect japanese to perfect english to perfect french in just a wink of the eye.

You can get note paper and some of that stuff out of japan too though, they do have all items in france in their flagship store, and most of it is actually made in france so it will have to be there at some point. I'm pretty sure a big share of special items are shipped to japan too. ;)

I always wondered why the cost was different from country to country especially within the EU, because the merchandise is ONLY sold in brand stores, so the company is in total control of the prices. It seems that instead of evening out the prices across the globe, they add to extra costs for each place, like rent, taxes and etc. THey also have their own currency stndard (I think) that doesen't change like the currency market does. That's why it's cheaper in Paris than in f.ex even UK. =/ And that's only across the channel,

Dustie 6th September 2006 06:20 PM

All this about brands really makes me want to start something on my own. And I surely won't hesitate to try. Participants welcome ;)

immel 6th September 2006 06:25 PM

I'll be your model if the pay is good :D.

The UK is actually more expensive to buy things than in America with today's conversions. I don't think you save that much buying in France compared to American prices either. However, I've heard that prices have gone up on average (for instance, a Dior bag I own was $980 when I got it and is now allegedly over $1,000 to buy from the flagship store). But the price is the same whether or not you buy from a flagship store or from a department store like Saks in America. The only way you can get a deal on genuine merchandise is if you go to the brands' outlet stores.

spacelion 6th September 2006 08:22 PM

Go to ebay. Designer clothes at a cheap price lol

HiruNoKaze 7th September 2006 04:29 AM

Well, I didn't know bags went for THAT much. What kind of material? Plutonium?

devilayu 7th September 2006 05:32 AM

You have to understand that each piece of merchandise is handmade and in the case of Vuitton, there is only one factory producing the items. Generally, it's high quality leather (my purse was grained calfskin) but the rarer the material (such as crocodile, etc) the more expensive it is.

Each of Ayumi's Vuitton luggage pieces cost anywhere from $1,000 to $3,000 per piece depending on when she bought it and what line they are from. For sunglasses, she's probably averaging $300 - $500 a pair, more if there are crystals and/or other details on them. If you walk into these stores enough, the thousand-dollar pricetag becomes 'normal'. Anyhow, those who haven't had the pleasure of walking into an LV or some store like it should check it out if you're interested in what Ayu buys. You can also check out eluxury.com to see prices of some items but the actual stores always carry more stuff. Never buy from eBay because even lower end products like Coach have TONS of fakes. They're easy to spot if you know what to look for. The only way to ensure a real product is to buy from the source or an online shop that the brands publicly endorse (such as eLuxury or BlueFly or Neiman Marcus, etc).

You're probably right about America being almost as cheap as euro countries if not even cheaper, the dollar is worth hardly anything these days.

I don't think Louis Vuitton is avaliable in any outlets though, it would probalby be overrun. O.o The sales in the department store is kind of the same as the independent stores.

And yeah, you do always get something extra when shopping "luxury" merchandise. f.ex Louis Vuitton sunglasses are supposed to be made from cotton rather than petrolium. Of course this makes them a bit more expensive, but as sunglasses (like Dior ones) generally cost a lot more than in other countries here, the price doesen't seem too bad at all. =P

Yeah I've seen Ayu with all sorts of brands on! I'm a big Louis Vuitton fan too, as well as other designer brands. So I guess I kind of covet designer goods too, like Japanese do.

KyahRyorin 8th September 2006 04:22 PM

O_o I never knew Ayu wore so many brand names that I was familiar with!!

Still, I love the pictures of her in the CD HITS! September 2002 (or 2001?)

http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v9...711/Ayu1-2.jpg

That HAS to be my favorite picture of her. I want this magazine SOOOOO BADLY!!!

devilayu 9th September 2006 06:45 AM

Dustie 9th September 2006 01:14 PM

yeah... I suppose even if she wore one tshirt one single time, it will be on the list too?

devilayu 9th September 2006 08:34 PM

^ No, the ones that I listed were either featured in the article or mentioned specifically by Ayu in the shoots that she posed in OR have been used multiple times by the stylist. Everything that I listed up there are items that I've seen more than once on Ayumi. Some of them are sub-collections in bigger fashion lines.

Dustie 10th September 2006 12:04 AM

Either way, I barely know any of those names... I guess I'm not into fashion and brands, unless I'm making it myself ;)

truehappiness 10th September 2006 12:35 AM

I think a lot of them might be like, independent Japanese boutiques~
