Quote:

This summer's going to be an impossible one for Evanescence frontwoman Amy Lee.

If she ruled the world (or at least ran her band's label, Wind-Up Records), The Open Door would be on shelves by week's end. But instead, fans will have to

wait until October 3 for the follow-up to Evanescence's 2003 breakthrough, Fallen.

"I'm just totally dying to get it out," she said. "It seems like it's been forever since Fallen," which has sold about 6.5 million copies in the United States. Plus, Lee's just flat-out psyched about The Open Door.

"I feel like with Fallen, a lot of those songs sound like I was trying to prove myself and establish what we were and our sound," she explained. "I was trapped having to feel a certain way. But with the new record, I sort of went with everything. I am not afraid to feel happy sometimes, and I think there's moments on the album with sensuality, which is really fun and beautiful, instead of the last time, where I felt like I was only getting out part of me. This record embraces the whole me."

It's been a hell of a three years for Evanescence. The forthcoming disc — which will feature 13 tracks including "Good Enough," "Weight of the World" and the first single, "Call Me When You're Sober" — will be the Arkansas band's first since the departure of lead guitarist and principal songwriter Ben Moody, who jumped ship in 2003, in the middle of Evanescence's European tour (see "Evanescence Soldier On Without Ben Moody, Look Forward To Recording").

Moody, who was Lee's longtime writing partner, was immediately replaced on the road by former Cold guitarist Terry Balsamo, who suffered a stroke caused by a torn neck artery just five months ago. Balsamo was made a permanent band fixture more than two years ago (see "Evanescence Name New Guitarist").

And then there have been Lee's recent legal travails with former manager Dennis Rider. In December, Lee sued Rider, accusing him of "breach of fiduciary duty," sexual assault and battery and professional misconduct, among other claims (see "Evanescence's Amy Lee Sues Former Manager, Alleges Financial And Sexual Misconduct"). That matter, she said, is still pending.

But Lee didn't let the ups and downs of the last few years disrupt the creative process.

"The big amazing thing is I went through this spectrum of emotions," she said. "We started off feeling really free and amazing and good, because I felt like I'd been liberated as an artist. [After Moody's departure], I didn't have somebody — I don't want to be mean — holding me back. Instead, I had [Balsamo] lifting me up. Terry is just an amazing instigator. He'll push me to do something I wouldn't have done maybe, because I'd be afraid to or something. He's a great writer, and it was just like we were just having fun with it for a change. It was like, 'Let's stop taking everything so seriously and have fun,' and we wrote a lot of songs that I'm just totally in love with.

"Life happens," Lee continued. "We were writing for more than a year, and even during the recording process, there were all kinds of stuff like relationship problems, and then there were all kinds of drama with [Rider], which was really stressful and straining. Terry's stroke was the most difficult part. All the things that happened were really inspiring, because it was frustrating. But for me at least, every time we get really frustrated and you're hitting a wall and everything is chaos, it just makes the music that much better, because you have passion — even if it's negative. That's sometimes better, actually. At the end of it, we all felt like we could take a new breath and start anew. We wrote great songs, and I love them. But at the same time, you need the trials to really be able to put something out there that's genuine and real."

Lee started writing material for the forthcoming LP more than a year ago (see "Evanescence's New Sound Is Reminiscent Of ... Evanescence") with Balsamo, who she called "the perfect writing partner." The effort was recorded at the Record Plant in Los Angeles earlier this year with producer and former Ugly Kid Joe guitarist Dave Fortman (Mudvayne, Superjoint Ritual), who also produced Fallen.

Lee said she forged a strong connection with Balsamo right off the bat.

"I was finally creating in the same room with someone," she said. "When Ben was in the band, we never wrote together. I would write my music, and I'd go as far as I could with it, and we'd come together and he'd write guitars and stuff. More commonly, he'd write stuff and bring it to me and I'd do lyrics and melodies and pianos and vocals. We could never really sit in the same room and create. I always felt my writing was too personal and too hard to share. But it was also that we didn't jell perfectly as writing partners. With Terry, I knew I liked his writing style, but I didn't know what the process would be like. But what we've come up with as a team is definitely better than what we could have done on our own."

As far as I know the original cover art hasn't been released and it's not their third album since Origin was never cosidered an album but a "bunch of demos".

The closest thing to the new cover is the next image but nothing is for sure.

ah, finally! but I've soo fallen behind on the group (especially since she said it would be out march of this year XD) but I'm glad their not dead. Has anybody heard the songs on the new single? (Or when its coming out? or if its already been out?) I'm very disoriented on my Evanescence happenings.

spookshow 30th June 2006 03:08 AM

^ no new stuff has been released yet -- i think we'll be hearing some new stuff in end of july/August -- because the album is released in september (if i'm remembering all this correctly)

ooh! thanks for sharing!
where'd you find this pic? It's a bit plain, and it looks kinda like the one i posted with the band in it -- so maybe this is more a promo pic and the official one does contain the band? although its a bit hard to tell with the pic i posted whether it was a new pic of the band or not

i'm loving the extra swirly effect thingo they added to the "evanescence" title

EDIT: looking again at the pic i found, it looks like they may have just chopped the evanescence title and added a pic of the band underneath -- because the swirls of the door pattern are in the same position in both pics.
ah well, i guess we'll eventually find out.

*+Dark.Night.Angel.+* 5th July 2006 10:56 AM

The most sounded titles for the tracks on the new album are:

Call Me When You're Sober (Official First Single)
Good Enough
Weight Of The World (Both confirmed by Amy)
Lithium
Hypocritical (these last two are named on imdb.com)
Angel Of Mine (This song is not know wether it's official or not but it's the only song available to download on fansites all over the net.)

I just heard the release date for the first single may be on August 7th and the PV may be released days before.

*+D.N.A.+*

EDIT: Oh, forgot to say, the photoshootings are over... the art is done.

*+Dark.Night.Angel.+* 7th July 2006 07:04 PM

Yes, they will be on tour I believe after the promotion of their second single or something like that... but until October 3rd nothing is to be known, except for the first single coming in three weeks.

Anwhere but home is their second release but it's not a trajectory album.

Anyone knows about the *secret* video?
Spoiler:
On gthe main presentation, if you use the remote control and make the cursor go left, an Evanescence (e) will highlight and you will access a secret video from a performance in Las Vegas.

By the way, for the third album ,some say they have already heard it and have posted in many places the most probable tracklist which coul be as follows:

There's a review of The Open Door in the French magazine "Rock One". According to that article the 13 songs are called:

1. Sweet Sacrifice

7. Lacrymosa

spookshow 11th July 2006 07:04 AM

I found a great website with info on the new album!

http://evanescencetheopendoor.blogspot.com/

here's a review of the tracks on the album from that site:
Quote:

1. Sweet Sacrifice: The listener is enchanted by the universe of Amy Lee from the very first notes, in such a way that it could be classed as the goddess neogothic style (Amy not the track ^^). She gives us the first feelings, through this song that will keep us on it and entertain us for the next Hour. Terry's guitar part flirts with sharps so that Amy's voice follows in the same tonality. With the postulate placed as early as the first beach (meaning this song placed first) gives the feeling that the believed Evanescence of 2006 has a heavier sound and a production a lot less cold than Fallen's

2. CMWYS: The first Single of the album begins with a soulful piano intro (Amy's favourite instrument on which she composed most of the writing of the songs) supported by a great and somewhat produced singing. One would note the samples at the end of the refrain.
AMY: "It's DJ Lethal, a mate of Terry's, work. He did a great job with the samples and I am more than satisfied with it!"
The Large sound of Terry's guitar and LeCompt's arrangements with the Rythmic guitar make it one of the most heavy songs on the Album. The verses of the break "You never call me when you're sober/You only want it cos it's over" probably have something to do with the relationship Amy had with her ex-boyfriend Seether's Shaun Morgan

3. Weight of the World: The guitars begin as early as the intro making Amy's voice blended into murmurs sampled alternatingly with Balsamo's jerky riffs. The singing becomes more and more synthetic when the guitar moves with the electro-acoustic accompaniment. The song is totally different from the previous repertoir of Evanescence.

4. Lithium: The enchanting duo of piano/voice of the first few minutes of the piece make you recall immediatley My Immortal of the previous album. When the bass, the guitar and the drums re-enter the song (we get the image of the MI band version) the Ambiance becomes even more solemn. The voice charged with emotion and gives the listener a sadness similar to that of Origin (the first real Evanescence album.)

5. Cloud Nine: We plunge instantly into a dark movie soundtrack with Amy's murmuring and vocalisation which lull us throughout the whole piece which has a very dark atmosphere. DJ Lethal's samples yet again blend very well with the music.

6. Snow White Queen: The glaucous is still decisive as the drums progressively lean towards a more electronic sound throughout this track. The chorus (You belong to me, my snow white queen) is very effective.

7. Lacrymosa: An orchestra of 22 strings, conducted by Dave Campbell (who had already worked with the band for the re-adaptation of My Immortal at the Billboard Awards ceremony of 2004) opens the song to better introduce a backing choir to Amy's voice.
AMY: "Dave Campbell is an enormous source of inspiration for me. He is very talented. The manner in which he arranges the orchestral parts is simply remarkable. It's the element of our music that makes me want to cry!"
Terry's solo guitar part adds to the environment of the piece before the choir does not close it continuing the descending notes. It was recorded in a chapel in Seattle, this is the second pearl of the CD.

8. Like you: Lethal is ever-present and the guitars are insidious and the voice is mumbly and sad. Then Terry slowly fades away to make it more like a dream. It is a slow, short and very rich title.

9. Lose Control: Another one based on piano, electronic drums, heavy guitars and a trebled voice. It was all made in value by David Fortman
AMY: "Dave understands perfectly our music, as if he's in my head. It is good to work with such a renowned person but if this person does not understand that which you seek and feel your band would end up playing like someone else. Dave always urged me to write and to bridge and to surpass myself."

10. The Only One: The guitar part is remarkable with Terry's nagging guitar. The vocalisations and piano of Amy remind you of those of Missing (An Anywhere but home bonus track). When the seven string guitar is played one is reminded of KoRn (Of whom Evanescence did a cover (thoughtless) in the ABH DVD). The melody of this piece is unstoppable. Definitely the third pearl of this CD.
(This part was not very clear. Some parts I had to get from the previous scan)

11. Your Star: The piano is the prime instrument here even putting up the maturity of the band's music. The choir and strings make their re-appearance here at the end of the track making an epic outro.

12. All That I'm living for: The guitar opens here the taking place of the piano with a very heavy riff. One will notice a reference to the title of the album in the excellent refrain already engraved in our memory after only one listening. This is definitely the 4th Pearl.

13. Good Enough: With the image of a CD relatively dominated by piano, the CD concludes with one of the most intimate piano/voice duo. The strings come to support Amy's voice charged with emotion (Am I good enough for you to love me too?). Longer than five minutes, we will prefer this to Hello from the preceeding album.

also, according to wikipedia and the above site:
Quote:

Amy Lee has confirmed that she wrote a song for the 2005 film version of The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe released by Disney, but it was rejected by producers due to it being "too dark and epic." However, Amy Lee said it was just more great material for the upcoming album The Open Door.[11] It has also been noted that the song originaly submitted for the Narnia soundtrack has been scrapped, but the intro has been recycled for Good Enough
also, according to evanescencetheopendoor.blogspot.com The Album is more "Rock" and not really metal. Its less heavy than Fallen. -- which is a shame, i love the heavier stuff

Diana 11th July 2006 10:28 AM

I`m looking forward for the new album.. I hope for the songs to be good :D

:meditate I'm hoping too, cause it sounds like it would be magical, and epic, and dark, just the way I like my Evanescence. (I would have bought the entire OST of Narnia just for that one track:D ) hopely it'll be on the b-side of the single. hopefully.

I'm curious to hear what Lacrymosa sounds like. a wiki caption beside the song say that it will have samples of Mozart's Requiem, that would be so cool if it did.

there's a new update on http://evanescencetheopendoor.blogspot.com/ about the new evanescence album, so i thought i'd give you all an update:

Quote:

Anyway, just to start you off with the new posts by Amy. She let us know that Will has decided to leave the band. He wants to spend more time with family and will not be in any of the promos or in the video. Sad I know, but here's what she said:
Hey everybody. We just had a killer couple of weeks filled with press, photos, and an incredible video shoot that I know youre gonna love. Things are going great and I'm really getting excited for the new album. Unfortunately, I have some sad news. A few weeks ago, Will decided to leave the band. He said that he just cant go through with another huge tour right now, and wants to stay a little closer to his family instead. Tour is hard- you kind of have to sacrifice your life for it, so we can all understand. We love Will very much and wish him nothing but happiness in everything he does. We've been playing music together since I was in jr. high. I miss him already! I love you guys, don't worry about the band- nothing has changed in the schedule and were all excited to get out there and play again. See you soon!
love
amy

She also added this in another thread:

how hillarious that you posted this... thats my new goal. To aquire and master the harp. Cant be that different, right?

ps- about all this narnia crap- nothing was sliced, diced or sacrificed. The song I wrote for the movie is still in tact- when I wrote it, I wrote a really long instrumental intro that is different from the rest of the song. Its just a piece of music. It turned out to be the perfect segway into the last song on the album. chillax!

And again, a Small post about Memories with Will.

Also, just to let you guys know, the Video for "Call Me When You're Sober" has been completed and it has been leaked that it revolves around the theme of "Little Red Riding Hood". Look out for the video soon! And check back here; we will have it for you!

Ok....another big news story! But this time its POSITIVE!
There is an AOL Preview Trailer of "The Open Door" featuring a Clip of "Lacrymosa" --- It's Beautiful!
You can download it from EvanescenceVille, Thanks to LadyFra!
There is also an Audio version of it.... thanks to Tracie from EvBoard! (See Links)
AOL Article about the Preview, and Confirming the Track is "Lacrymosa" Thanks to LubbockFan from Ev.it (See Links)

Oh and Before I forget! There is a Small New Promo Pic on Evanescence's AOL Page. Its very nice and very classy, but also very small! But its worth checking out! Keep that link bookmarked as Ev will be on AOL Sessions in the Beginning of August, and keep your ears pealed for "Call Me When You're Sober" on the Radio very soon.
for the actual links you'll have to go on the website ;) i downloaded the trailer preview -- and it sounds great! true evanescence style :D
it's also good news to hear that the track from the Chronicles of Narnia wasn't changed too much for the album track!

i'm getting excited! we should be hearing Call Me When Your Sober soon!! and the whole red riding hood theme sounds great!!

xiaou-xijiang 17th July 2006 04:26 PM

I just watched the trailer and it was awesome!! *I'm so excited* :D

EDIT: here's the audio clip of The Open Door Trailer that I reuploaded onto TU myself.
Credits@TheOpenDoorBlogspot
The background chorus reminds me of the latin vocals in Anything for You (I love it when she does that in her music...)
I'm soo gonna buy the new single...(that's probably not gonna be released until August or something, right?)
Its a shame about Will though, I liked him..

Nu-NRG 18th July 2006 07:26 AM

I love the antique/old-style doors/windows they stand in front of -- so pretty. I'm not too impressed with Amy's makeup though, she seems to have forgotten the rule that only the eyes or lips (not both) should be done up -- but I can forgive ;)

Diana 26th July 2006 05:27 PM

Thanx for the trailer :D It sounds creepy~ Kimochi waruiii~ yay!!

*+Dark.Night.Angel.+* 28th July 2006 08:09 PM

They moved the release date for Call Me When You're Sober to Spetember 25th...

That's annoying.

CMWYS, Lacrymosa and Cloud Nine have already been leaked, so hard to find them!!!

About the Narnia song and the idea of making it hidden.. it would be ice since they haven't repeated that since Origin, anyone has it? remember the Anywhere goof?

By the way, I bring you here a clip from a french radio station in which a lady presented a clip of CMWYS
Here's the direct link:

Call Me When You're Sober (Clip)

xiaou-xijiang 28th July 2006 10:44 PM

wait, you mean CMWYS/cloud nine hasn't leaked? (are they the 30 sec clips?)
or minute clips?

*+Dark.Night.Angel.+* 28th July 2006 10:57 PM

The FULL VERSIONS for Lacrymosa, CMWYS and Cloud Nine HAVE BEEN LEAKED onto a Russian server of free music downloads... the clip I uploaded for CMWYS is about 20 seconds long (counting the seconds the french woman uses to speak about the song).

*+D.N.A.+*

xiaou-xijiang 28th July 2006 10:58 PM

niceness. :D Now I just have to look for a russian server/site. How'd you find out?

I'll join xiaou-xijiang in the hunt for the elusive leaked evanescence songs, but it's times like these I wish I knew russian *sigh*.

according to the open door blogspot :
Quote:

Prior to the album release, Evanescence will unleash new single 'Call Me When You're Sober' as a digital download on September 4 before its official release on September 25.
so this means that we should have CMWYS by Friday! yay!
And CMWYS sounds pretty good! from the title I was kinda expecting some crappy rock song, sorta like Broken (not evanescence style), but I was proven wrong! can't wait to hear the whole song!

and if anyone does manage to find those leaked songs *cough-share with me!-cough*

^I sincerly hope you have better luck searching for them then me! I googled for hours and found nothing. I even searched .ru sites and no luck. :no I'm so disappointed. Personally, I got so frustrated... But I found a site where to download singles and ep and stuff.

*subliminal messages works wonders!

spookshow 29th July 2006 05:07 AM

^hehehe no problems! I've found nothing yet though *sigh*

spookshow 30th July 2006 03:46 AM

*insert fangirl scream* CALL ME WHEN YOU'RE SOBER HAS LEAKED!!!! and it's very good quality

has anyone noticed the "you love me, come and find me" part which is from the demo "anything for you"?

here's the lyrics
Quote:

Don’t cry to me.
If you loved me, you would be here with me.
You want me, come find me.
Make up your mind.

Should’ve let you fall,
Lose it all,
So maybe you can remember yourself.
Can’t keep believing,
We’re only deceiving ourselves,
And I’m sick of the lies,
And you’re too late.

Don’t cry to me.
If you loved me, you would be here with me.
You want me, come find me.
Make up your mind.

Couldn’t take the blame,
Sick with shame.
Must be exhausting to lose your own game.
Selfishly hated,
No wonder you’re jaded,
You can’t play the victim this time.
And you're too late.

So, don’t cry to me.
If you loved me, you would be here with me.
You love me, come find me.
Make up your mind.

You never call me when you’re sober,
You only want it ‘cause it’s over - it’s over.

How could I have burned paradise.
How could I, you were never mine?

So, don’t cry to me.
If you loved me, you would be here with me.
Don’t lie to me, just get your things.
I’ve made up your mind.
EDIT: the pv for CMWYS will be premiered in the US ont he 7th of August! and the theme is little red riding hood! there's more info on The Open Door blog. It sounds so great! I can't wait to see it!

xiaou-xijiang 30th July 2006 03:51 AM

^HA! I did! thanks for the leak. ^____^ you rock my socks! :luv2

any luck with lacrymosa? I've searched and still can't find a thing :weep I'm soo disatisfied.

spookshow 30th July 2006 03:58 AM

nah I haven't found that one yet *sigh*

*hearT_Place* 30th July 2006 04:19 AM

KYAA!!! Thank you!! I can't wait to listen to it.

Red Riding hood? That will be cool to see. I can't wait!

ken(d)t 30th July 2006 06:33 AM

I got Call me when you're sober, but Cloud Nine and lacrymosa seems to be almost impossible to find...

if anyone had limewire, I used that to dload the real CMWYS version, ironic enough it had a little '(real)' in the end ... Much to my surprise, it was the real thing (L)

a bit of the CMWYS filmclip has leaked!

http://img317.imageshack.us/img317/8970/cmmysvd5.jpg
youtube link

I can't wait to see the rest! and there's gonna be a "making of the video" too!
there's a link to more screencaps over at The Open Door blog. Man I do a lot of promoting for that site -- u'd think i run it! (I don't! its just soo good for info!)

Syphex 1st August 2006 12:00 AM

The video was taken down by RIAA.

Did anyone manage to save it?

PS: Amy Lee actually looks very hot in that picture. It's a shame that Evanescence haters always have to resort to bashing her face though.

xiaou-xijiang 1st August 2006 12:18 AM

^I didn't crap! I should have as soon as I saw it! :grumpy

spookshow 1st August 2006 06:46 AM

the video was taken down!? it was more an ad for the album than part of the pv. Don't worry, the video should be leaking soon!

here is the rest of the screencaps. I love her red cape! and that guy is very wolvish, don't you think?

Syphex 1st August 2006 08:03 PM

The guy is HOT.

Who is he?

Nu-NRG 2nd August 2006 12:17 AM

the song ROCKS!!!!!
...meh....Oct 3rd...two more months =\

*+Dark.Night.Angel.+* 2nd August 2006 07:48 PM

No one said you wouldn't wait,.. I just posted that sentence because it was written on another place...

I mocked it on the other topic.

spookshow 3rd August 2006 10:08 AM

here's another album cover that has surfaced
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v5...tem0o/b12f.jpg

and here's a link for a bigger version, except the top is blacked out, but you can see amy's dress

I love it! Amy's dress is gorgeous!!!

micster 3rd August 2006 10:12 AM

I want that to be the cover

spookshow 3rd August 2006 10:23 AM

^ so do I -- I still can't get over how gorgeous amy's dress is!

xiaou-xijiang 3rd August 2006 03:01 PM

that has to be the cover. It has to be. :luv2

Syphex 4th August 2006 03:29 AM

It probably will be, since popular sites have taken it down due to "requests" (most probably from official companies) in fact, it's been taken down on both image hosting sites in your post, spookshow. Can anyone reupload it, preferably on private hosting space?

I hate how amy is looking over her shoulder. it looks too wierd of a pose. it would have been better if she looked straight into the door, keeping an aura of mysteriousness. But the dress is nice, I guess.

spookshow 4th August 2006 10:03 AM

Here's the cover syphex, I found it over at wikipedia

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...0/Opendoor.jpg

Kodayumi 4th August 2006 11:51 AM

^^Thanx for the pic =)

*hearT_Place* 4th August 2006 03:14 PM

oooh that's wonderful. I hope that is the cover

Syphex 4th August 2006 07:14 PM

Thanks! But it's really small. Can you upload a larger version? =)

spookshow 5th August 2006 02:20 AM

^ sorry, that's all I could find

DogboyShugo 5th August 2006 08:18 AM

How do you download things from youtube?

xiaou-xijiang 5th August 2006 12:52 PM

huh?

*+Dark.Night.Angel.+* 5th August 2006 07:39 PM

it is possible but with a long to explain proccessssssss....

*+D.N.A.+*

xiaou-xijiang 5th August 2006 08:13 PM

it seems really complicated in the beginning but its really pretty simple. (but doing it for a long time drains the brains *.*) to download vids just copy the link put it in keepvid and download. then just convert it to a video file. The only bad thing about it is that the quality is the same as it is on YT. *bleech*
I was wondering why out of the blue: can you rip videos from youtube popped up. :/

EDIT: since we're already off topic: only 4 more posts until this thread gots 100.

micster 5th August 2006 08:17 PM

TO DOWNLOAD FROM YOUTUBE

Use This

xiaou-xijiang 5th August 2006 08:19 PM

crap that's just like Keepvid!
only like three times cooler.
thanks, this'll be better cause I use Firefox. :luv2
