Has Ayumi ever acknowledged her gaijin fanbase?

Maybe a better question is "Do you think Ayumi is aware of her gaijin fanbase?" but anyway..Anyone know?
O/T. I imagine she might run into a few people that might recognize her when she's abroad.

nmskalmn 15th October 2006 01:14 AM

She's aware of her fans in China, Taiwan, and Southeast Asia.

truehappiness 15th October 2006 01:18 AM

I'd imagine that she knows she's overseas as well.

I wonder if she's aware of the Drizzly singles in Germany.. although in the U.S.A. and Hawaii she might know because some people do see her and know who she is..

..but she does kinda yell at them LOL

wha?

truehappiness 15th October 2006 01:52 AM

Okay; friend in Hawaii met Ayu kinda during fairyland.
Said she was really pretty, but she was a b!tch. :x Many of her friends who worked in places Ayu went to said she was 'rude' or something and came across as a 'diva'.

[she met Ayu because her friend's dad was the architect that built/designed the fairyland cabin or something and they got to bring friends etc]

SunshineSlayer 15th October 2006 02:12 AM

Morning Musume and other H!P artists are aware of their overseas fanbase and have given at least some acknowledgement to them. So I'd imagine that Ayu would know as well, though to what extent I don't know.

truehappiness 15th October 2006 02:16 AM

Like the Hawaii FC tours?

shavo, stop making new accounts here.

She was probably aware of them when they were released, now there's been a bit too many years for her to have it on her mind, I think.

She knows that she's selling overseas versions of her CDs aswell ... so she should at least be aware, but I don't think she thinks much about anything outside the borders of Asia.

Well, okay, she loves the US and she travels pretty much, but whatever.

Really? I can't imagine Ayu acting that way. (Based on her interviews, lyrics). She loves her fans. Maybe her actions were interpreted the wrong way?

truehappiness 15th October 2006 03:10 AM

No, she's really.. not like .. 'nice' like that to people who get in the way of her work.

I don't think someone would misinterpret 'yelling' at fans. :|
[oh, when I went to the site that they filmed the pond scene of fairyland, a woman said Ayu brought a ton of shoes to the shoot LOL]

alt.total-loser 15th October 2006 03:12 AM

Um. I would hope she's aware. If not, then that's just a bit ditzy.

She was yelling at them?! How mean :cry

And Ayu is a self proclaimed shoe addict, so I wouldn't be surprised. :P

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 15th October 2006 03:29 AM

I really love Ayu! but I do think she is a bit B!tchy and she would think she is better than evereyone else. I would too if I were her.

Most stars probably don't like people interfering when they're on-the-job you know? If time is money and all, and especially if the fans aren't respecting the celebrity's time.

Maybe if Ayu had a meet-n-greet she'd be acting differently.

But she would only be acting friendly because it's "staged." I would like to meet Ayu when she's here in the US and then I'll see how she acts :D

truehappiness 15th October 2006 03:58 AM

I really do not think that Ayu wants to meet with fans in the middle of work.

She's a really private person, despite all that she 'does' and 'appears' to be like to us. I mean, imagine having been rejected by many people as a teen only to have them like, scarily accept you nowadays. O_O

HiruNoKaze 15th October 2006 04:35 AM

^Very thought provoking statement, TH...mhmmm...
In the pics and videos and stuff...that's her in her relax time, or being pleasant with the people she works with. I think that Japanese people in general are very considerate of others, so that I think she expects to be able to...have a life. That's why everytime I've imagined meeting Ayu it's been personal but very brief. It's a horrible thing to say, but practically, if you met a million fans who all said like 10 different things, you'd be bored to death. We can speculate that perhaps she's full of herself...but is that what we see from the real Ayu? She always thanks everybody and in the NTV2004 interview she's really down to earth. If she were really a *****, I think we'd all know it for sure by now. I don't anyone would be able to hide it, not even Avex. I agree with TH when he says that Ayu probably doesn't like getting her work interrupted; it's kinda evident that she's a workaholic. If she were a *****, she and Tomoya probably wouldn't have been together this long (even though it's not 100% confirmed). She was probably like "omg who the hell let these people in...damn it everyone, let's pull it together! ... uhuh.uhuh.uhuh.yea.look, you guys go over there and im gonna go shoot this music video, understand?"

truehappiness 15th October 2006 04:43 AM

Well, she's not exactly a b**** to friends and stuff yeah..

But like to people she doesn't even know.. I think so. I would be.

So...if I saw Ayu in L.A. and I asked for her autograph, she would act all snooty and decline? :cry

Also, in one of their songs they mention people who came from other countries to see them in the lyrics.

Perhaps. I don't know the details, but she was very 'better-than-you' to workers at stores and stuff.

Yukitora 15th October 2006 06:54 AM

She seemed to act nice to those "fans" in the Bold & Delicious PV O_O

You know, that's really damn rude if you go around acting like that to store workers at such. Sure she may be annoyed if she were working, but she obviously isn't if she's shopping. Of course, we don't even know if that's really her character, but celebrities in general have to respect that these people really admire them and acting rude to them is really going to hurt them.

It's really a moral thing, but frankly, it's hard to believe that some celebs have any. Ayu herself said she never wants to meet Madonna in person because she doesn't want her image of her to be tainted. Maybe because she knows that everything we see in the media is staged.

truehappiness 15th October 2006 06:58 AM

Were there really fans in the B&D PV? Maybe those were people working with her on the PV. :|

There goes my dream of running into Ayu in Miami. :(

I agree with you entirely. It's somewhat difficult to hear TH's story considering the fact that I've always pictured her to be kind to everyone that she meets. But that's probably asking too much, as many celebrities naturally tend to become tired of constant public attention. I know that if I ever met Ayu and she were to yell at me or act snooty, I would honestly cry. It would just shatter her image for me and I'm sure that's how many fans of celebrities feel if they are ever treated poorly by those that they truly admire.

nmskalmn 15th October 2006 03:41 PM

There's a member at AHS, Takano Fukada, who walked up to Ayu at a hotel in Singapore (IIRC) and got two autographs from her.

I am a bit sceptical about truehappiness claiming that Ayu treats everyone badly. Firstly, it's not his own experience, but second or third hand info. Secondly, we don't know the whole story. Maybe his friend of a friend of a friend was being super annoying, or maybe they are a super-sensitive person who gets offended over nothing.

I don't think anyone at AHS is in a position to say conclusively what Ayumi Hamasaki is like when she isn't on public display.

I'm pretty sure that the "fans" in the B&D PV were part of the crew. Additionally, most "normal" people act differently when in the presence of a camera crew (think of when you see crowds of people behind a reporter).

I can't recall Ayumi specifically mentioning fans outside of Asia. I doubt she acknowledges them as much as Morning Musume or Gackt or Laruku, though.

After all, one incident doesn't really make much of a generalization.

Well said, skal.

truehappiness 15th October 2006 08:23 PM

I guess so.

Maybe she was just in a bad mood / tired on those days in Hawaii. I wonder if any of the members of AHS in Hawaii have heard stories as well?

About the friend: I don't think it was so much interaction with Ayu, since they were sort of just 'on the set' and got to see her. She said that Ayu was amazingly beautiful like 'O___________O!', but even though she was pretty, she wasn't that polite to her friends that worked in that mall that Ayu went to [the one in on my way when the bodyguard is carrying her and they both have Starbucks]... that's just what she said to me. It was something that she stressed that I called absurd at first listen :p So I wasn't exactly accepting of the story either..

I do think Ayu might be nice in real life, but I'd rather not take the chance of having a bad experience that might ruin my views on Ayu..

edit: here's the page of the person that met Ayu:

I agree 100%. Well said.
Here we have some second or third hand evidence from god know's who, and a story that anyone could make up.. as opposed to one with a newspaper article, two autographs, and the name of the person who actually did it. Which one am I gonna believe? #2.
