Thought on ARENA tour 2006 (miss)understood?

I think most of the people in here have downloaded and watched the opening of arena tour 2006 and Born To Be... preform. IMO, this opening is so amazing! I have the feeling of "HOLY ****..*SHOCK*" We don't know the rest of the tour yet. But based on the opening, the tour is stunning.

ayu1m 1st November 2006 08:13 PM

I had also the same reaction :D I loved it, it was awesome and her dress was really beatiful IMO!

So going to order this around ~christmas :yes!

immel 1st November 2006 08:13 PM

...and if you haven't watched it yet, grab it here:

Yes, the opening is indeed stunning.

I think the title of the thread should be thoughts of the DVD, and not the performance, because there's a slight difference :).

From what I noticed in the 7 minute clip that was released just recently the editors of the DVD seem to have been able to capture the sheer power of her performance very well, I'm re-living it all again. I hope that the rest of the DVD will be as skillfully made.

The intro is amazing, I find it her best intro, ever.

Thanks, immel for the link. I didn't know why I couldn't post the thread with the link. At the end of performance of Born To Be..., the fire and red lighting reminds me INSPIRE from ARENA Tour 2005. But IMO, Born To Be... is better!!!

darc_aqua 2nd November 2006 12:21 AM

I loved the many different screens. I think its connected lights though cause at the beginning you can see through the two front screens. Really awesome stuff. very surreal. The fire was brilliant.

truehappiness 2nd November 2006 12:46 AM

I'm waiting for my DVD, since it's coming this week. :)

I know it'll be amazing. AMMAAAAZZZINNG.

Please no one spoil it, im gonna order it.

Then dont come into this thread...

The intro was okay, I really liked the quickness of each scene change in the intro around the beginning parts...but it was all behind the scenes sort of thing. sorry, can we say....WAYYYY OVERDONE. ;.;

I like her BTB dress, but the dancer costumes were not spectacular and it didn't match to ayu's dress. Nice performance and vocals (if its not edited), not the grandest opening i've ever seen, the hype disappointed me. They could have improved by working on the lighting and flashing effects during the loud parts. it would have been BRILLIANT.

I'm looking most forward to Ladies Night/alterna/is this LOVE? so...yeah. : I hope those are good performances.

Raiu-Ayu 2nd November 2006 01:37 AM

I really like it! It was so amazing! I only would have either changed the dancers outfits so they were in something that matched ayu or put ayu in one of those tribal suits that the dancers had.

On a side note, did anyone notice Peco? She looks so different!

IMO, it was amazing even if overdone. Ayu had floatyness in DT01, AT02 had behind the scenes footage that wasn't hot like the AT06 footage, and so on.

AT07 will likely have some sort of original video opening rather than a 'behind the scenes' shot.. :)

alternarist 2nd November 2006 06:58 AM

weehee!! i downloaded it and watched!!

well.. for the intro video Are You Wake Up? i feel that the video they are showing. was somewhat weird and inappropriate. i prefer AT 2005's video. but i like how the concert started. started with a bang. with audience clapping with the beats!!! :D i like the usage of the visual effect of the natural elements, together with the red rose gives me the feeling that i am in a tribal party or somewhat in the forest, especially with what the dancers were wearing.

but i dont really like the way ayu sang the chorus of Born To Be... sounds different from the original version. especially the i-MA nara.

pbs1605 2nd November 2006 06:58 AM

I have not seen it yet.I dont want to spoil it till i get the DVD.But i am sure it is awesome.

You must know that Born to Be.. is HELLA HARD TO SING LIVE x.x
Try singing that part.. oi.

I think that the intro was quite fitting. It was like "Ayu's posse's gettin' up in this arena, yo."

alternarist 2nd November 2006 07:31 AM

i can sing that. lol. i jus feel that if she sang it that it actually sounds nicer. dont u think so?

~X2RADialbomber~ 2nd November 2006 07:37 AM

I'm not seeing it until Christmas because I'm going to be purchasing the DVD then XD

Are you sure? :p In front of seventeen thousand people?

I really don't think many people can perform Born to Be.. as loudly and as 'proudly' as the CD-track especially when you're standing inside a flower and have a whole concert left to sing. Ayu is capable of really good performances, and I think that she did Born to Be.. quite well especially given the fact that this does open the concert ;D

[I wonder if she was saving vocal power for later songs, so as to not be all tired after the opening..]

probably??? well maybe i expect too much. due to the anticipation. :P

truehappiness 2nd November 2006 08:50 AM

Perhaps.

I think she was singing pretty fullout, unless you'd want her to yell LOL

k1s3k1 2nd November 2006 08:56 AM

ive watched it.. partially.. but the encore disc is really good.. her team message shirt is made from diamonds i think -_-.. havent watched the disc 1 yet.. but i like her last performance of Beautiful Day

here are some scans of the case pics (imageshack resized it too small lol..)

It would seem that she always recustomized the stuff she has for encore..

Like it's a different kind of shirt and it's always covered in crystals x.x

[taskin.ayu] 2nd November 2006 09:14 AM

It's amazzzinggg. XD I like the exploding bit with the fire on screen. =P I hope the other visualisations are good as well.

truehappiness 2nd November 2006 09:24 AM

That was another sign of fairyland-ness LOL

The flame was so hot though. My god. LOL

SunshineSlayer 2nd November 2006 12:09 PM

I'm watching the full thing right now and just as when I saw it live, so far the best part is definitely the section w/ is this love? and miss understood. The is this love? performance is just like holy freaking wow. Ayumi needs to do more rock songs and performances like these two songs - she reaaaallly got into these performances and the vocals were obviously all live.

The performances of step you, ladies night and alterna, while visually stunning and great energy wise, they seem so fake. But I don't remember them seeming quite so fake when I saw it live....

Overall though, it all looks really cool and Ayu seems to be giving TONS of energy in everything.(more so than in the other concert dvds, which is saying a lot.)

edit: ok, and so far the funniest part is durring B&D when Peco starts molesting one of the male dancers! And if I saw right, he then slaps her butt afterwards. lol.

omg.. fake???? NO!!! i hope everything turns out perfectly!!! and peco is definitely living up to her name man. she is hot!! anybody get molested by her should pay her for doing so! :P

SunshineSlayer 2nd November 2006 01:04 PM

I might as well keep giving my updates as I'm watching, hehe. She starts getting emotional durring Heaven - it just wouldn't be an Ayu concert without some tears falling.

They definitely look lip synched or Avex got edit happy again with the dvd. I'm leaning towards the later cause like I said I don't really remember them coming off quite this fake when I saw it live, but then again that was quite some time ago now so it's hard to remember exactly.

simonlau 2nd November 2006 01:58 PM

i love the op for this year's concert
well, ayu makes me love btb now ( i hated it before in the startin single :P)

SunshineSlayer 2nd November 2006 02:14 PM

Ok, final verdict after seeing the whole concert is that it rocks. :) Best/most memorable performance I think is definitely is this LOVE? It gave me goosebumps.

ruixiong89 2nd November 2006 03:15 PM

Wow, I really liked the introduction! It's really exciting on first watch! I mean the excitement kind of sheds off after watching a few times but the part with Ayu and the fire is WOW! Amazing! Great great great! :D I really like the tour and the moving screens. Nice addition!

ayufan89 2nd November 2006 03:26 PM

The crowd seems to be more lively this time round, clapping their hands to the beat of the song.

I must say that the opening song was good, but the opening video doesn't pack much of a punch, gotta be more "ooomph" in my opinion.

Nevertheless, the energy present in the opening song has already surpassed that of Arena Tour 05. Way to go, Ayu.

AyUmIXx 2nd November 2006 04:51 PM

gosh..i really like the opening..
ayu's voice is soooooo strong..
really love her BTB on arena tour 06..
gosh!!! fantastic!
can't wait to watch the whole DVD!!

They definately went edit happy, because I remember how very different the vocals from alterna sounded during the two performances that I went to.

I'm very much looking forward to seeing is this LOVE? again, expecially the guitar solo intro part, wicked. Where'd you get the entire show from, this quickly?

k1s3k1 2nd November 2006 05:45 PM

just finished watching disc1.. alterna is the best! its so cool.. the costume and that red ball thing.. lol.. the Startin costume is so.. bad.. the pink wig makes her ugly.

ayu1m 2nd November 2006 06:53 PM

I'm so going to order one!

I got it off of a japanese p2p program. :) I'm going into town now to check one of my regular j-pop shops to see if they have gotten it in yet. Here's hoping cause I want to see it in excellent quality and see all the bonus features. The one I downloaded had both the first and second disc squeezed into 4.3 GB and it still looked awesome! So I can only imagine what the full quality concert must look like.

immel 2nd November 2006 09:00 PM

I wish you good luck on finding it... I can't wait until my copy arrives... I'm SO expecting it by next week... but it could also arrive the week after... :cry.

I'll see it eventually... I'll probably check the shrinked version when it finishes downloading, I have to see it... doesn't feel too blasphemous when I've actually already seen it all :D.

realize_! 2nd November 2006 09:14 PM

I'm hopefully buying my copy this Saturday... I hope he has it at least. Watching the intro already gave me chills, and my mom^^

immel 2nd November 2006 10:04 PM

@Sunny and the alterna performance, avex MUST have gone edit crazy on the alterna performance, like mad, it sounds nothing like I remember it. I remember it so clearly as outstanding when it was live, the vocals really was different, very different from the original version, but this one from the DVD isn't too different. Bad bad avex.

Oh well, still sounds awesome.

Diana 2nd November 2006 10:51 PM

I don`t know if I should download it. I kind of want it to be a suprise when my friend downloads the full dvd ^^ But I don`t know if I will make it until then...

Raleigh 2nd November 2006 11:10 PM

I've only watched the intro but I must say it's pretty spectacular. Typical Ayu style.

Qt Mashi 2nd November 2006 11:12 PM

lol i relli wanna see it but havent d/led it yet, i wanna save the best on DVD

im just reading the comments and imagining the intro and "wow" parts :P

darc_aqua 3rd November 2006 12:39 AM

I cant wait for my dvd anymore and its only been 1 day since i ordered. hahaha lol. I went on ayunite and saw 3 screenshots of the dvd. really cute and cool.

truehappiness 3rd November 2006 12:43 AM

Mmm.

I can't wait for my DVD. I'm going mad! LOL
Are the screens like even real? Or are they some new technology with projections? :o

darc_aqua 3rd November 2006 12:45 AM

it is but in the opening, i can see through the 2 front ones. Maybe connected pixels of light.

truehappiness 3rd November 2006 12:47 AM

Well, you can see the projectors when they move the camera 100000x in the intro..

I just think they're some sort of new technology that Ayu's the first to use [well first female jpop singer..] ~ :D

immel 3rd November 2006 12:52 AM

Yeah, they talked about those "now technology special screens" even before the performances started.

When I was there it seemed like... huge completely transparent glass screens, with those big lights in them, the only weird thing is that they could light up with any colour...

evolution7931 3rd November 2006 01:15 AM

I watched the intro/Born to be.. and..

I LOVE IT!! The opening video was alot better than I expected it to be.. I thought it'd be like the encore intro from Dome Tour 2001..

I absolutely love the use of those new screens in the concert!! They add a whole new dimension to the whole scene!! And when they first turned them on, it looked like they magically came out thin air!!

I also really like how they unveiled Ayu.. I thought it was just going to go completely dark and then turn bright again and she'd be there..

Spoiler:
but they actually took the special screens and moved them in a weird shape.. then they put bright images on them so that you couldn't see what was behind them (it was Ayu).. then all the lights came on and the special screens went back into their original places, revealing Ayu!! How clever!!

Ayu's vocals were very good too! and the images on the screens were so beautiful!!

The camera angles were pretty spectacular too... I can't wait to get the DVD and watch the rest!! (I think I've already spoiled enough :P)

immel 3rd November 2006 01:20 AM

Her vocals wasn't actually that good when I was there, which means avex has, as usual, been fiddling with her vocals to present them as better sounding. Unless she actually sang a lot better during the very last perfrmance. Doesn't really matter though, as long as it sounds good, and you can still clearly hear that it's live, nothing as fine polished as a studio recording :).

And the screens was... indeed amazing, I remember them just appearing out of nowhere when I was there, too. They could really go invisible, or almost solid with colour and lights.

I think that the words "a whole new dimension" is the exact same words as the ones I used in my concert review when I mentioned them... haha :D.

evolution7931 3rd November 2006 01:24 AM

Hm. About her vocals.. maybe they just like.. fixed the volume of every instrument against Ayu's voice for the best possible audio quality? The main difference between this live, and the TV lives of BTB to me is the fact that the music doesn't drain her voice out at all.. :/ ... And like, I remember that even when I listened to the recordings that you made when you were there, I was thinking that the instruments sounded half retarted and it just didn't really sound proper to me.. because the volumes sounded all screwed up and it sounded like Ayu had to sing really loud at times to overpower the music, which would make her sound like she's straining, right?

But I could be 100% wrong..

immel 3rd November 2006 01:28 AM

They fiddle a whole lot with the different sound levels in the DVDs, for example they often make the sound of the audience really apparent at times... if you're actually in the arena, I can tell you that all of it gets totally drowned out in the INSANE sound level emerging from the stage speakers. The music/vocals downs out every other sound in the arena, except between the songs when people cheer. Sometimes you can hear people cheering during songs when you're in the arena, but it's very modified in the DVD.

I'm pretty sure that during the performance they record all of it separately, microphones that take up the sound of the audience, one microphone for each instrument and one for Ayu and one for all the sounds in the arena at once... and so on, and then they mix it until perfection.

SunshineSlayer 3rd November 2006 01:28 AM

Yep, that's just what they do. :yes

After watching the whole thing, I think the only performances that have really been tampered w/ beyond the volume levels are Step YOU, Ladies Night, and alterna. It is painfully obvious in Ladies Night.

immel 3rd November 2006 01:29 AM

Ugh... hearing that sort of scares me, although Ladies Night sounded very close to perfection, I seem to remember.

I'm at like.. 5% on the torrent, maybe it'll finish by tomorrow or the next day. I guess it'll take like 40 hours.

Please don't miss my above post, I want your view, too. We posted at the exact same time.

truehappiness 3rd November 2006 01:30 AM

I guess they had some sort of reasoning for doing so.. D:

Then again, I imagine that some AT05 performances were also tampered with LOL~

Maybe CAROLS? :B

immel 3rd November 2006 01:33 AM

All of the DVDs has been edited, always, during the entire show, some performances are more noticeably so than others, though.

It's not something that only applies to Ayu.

evolution7931 3rd November 2006 01:35 AM

Oh yeah, I must add that so far the lighting is amazing as well.. It seems like they have lights strategically placed to shine from every possible angle.. and the lights are soooooo nice..

I also loved the light setting of AT06... AT05 was lacking it, or they didn't really concentrate on catching it on the DVD. CDL0506 had a freaking crazy light show, but it wasn't very sophisticated, just BAM BOOM, LET LIGHT BE.

AT06 had the show. It had the lights. It had it all.

...I'm so exploding because I'm finally able to discuss AT06 with everyone :D.

evolution7931 3rd November 2006 01:43 AM

^^ Hehehe!!! XD After all these months of talking about it and only 2 or 3 people understood, now we all do XD I'd be exploding too :P

Speaking of exploding, I'm gonna explode waiting for the overseas version of this DVD.. Last year, I waited the full 24 days impatiently.. then I ordered it right away, but the customs people stole it for 'inspection'.. just my luck, /I/ had to be the random 1% after waiting 3 weeks. They seized my DVDs for 3 weeks too.. everyday I'd come home from school filled with joy, expecting it to be here.. and then it wasn't. Everyday.. for THREE WEEKS.. It was one of the more horrible waits of my life...

So this one better not take so long... or someone's gonna die...

haha yeah Ladies Night is so fake lol.. especially that magic trick part haha

LacusClyne 3rd November 2006 04:19 AM

so, far Born to Be is good. Even though she sounds a little off at the starting.....hee hee.

but, i don't really like that red dress. it look better on AYUPAN then ayu herself. i'm going to escape from this thread till i got my disc. bye!

mishidabo 3rd November 2006 04:35 AM

i watched the first dvd.....

born to be is really good ^_^

all the rest is crap XD

kidding.. the outfits are ok i guess.. but the performance is mediocre... except for rainy day.. that one was soo good(but sooo playback.. like ladies night.. i dont complain tho.. i like rainy day alot and i wouldnt wanted ayu to ruin the song if she sang it with the low deep voice she sang the whole concert) >.< , also alterna was kinda boring but the outfits were AMAZING.... and no comments on B&D.. even tho it was kinda boring, i liked it better than My story tour... the outfits are better IMO...

anywho kudos for ayu

darc_aqua 3rd November 2006 04:44 AM

DO any of you guys have a good surround system. I think that it would be so much more cooler to watch it with surround sound. This DVD will have really good sound I'm sure. This year's countdown had excellent picture and sound quality. When i watched it using my surround sytem, i felt like I was there, It all sounds so real and energetic.

truehappiness 3rd November 2006 09:13 AM

I imagine that this concert was made to be watched on an HDTV with 5.1 surround sound ;D

I was there and I saw her doing it. Unless it was edited to something else in the DVD, I must say that it seemed fake when I saw it happen in front of my own eyes, too.

elepop 3rd November 2006 03:50 PM

I watched it in youtube!

I must say, that's like the best intro... ever! And I'm not even a fan of "Born To Be..." lol. The intro video, the screens, the scenery, the flower, the audience energy! Wow. And I also like how they shot the audience in the intro. :yes Very spectacular indeed. :yes

HilaryDuffFanboy 4th November 2006 03:06 AM

Um...... I'm sure I like AT05 more.

AT06 is good, but is so random...... I REALLY hate how she keeps on using English.... it seriously destroys parts of STEP you, UNITE!, Bold & Delicious, Startin' for me..... Stick with Japanese.

I dislike the opening, it's grand, but I still dislike Born To Be... and the use of flowing clouds on the screens is tacky in my opinion.

I expected much more from STEP you... It's my favourite song but I think I like the CDL 05-06 performance better.

Bold & Delicious REALLY needs the group of 30 backing vocals.... it sounds so much better.....

Also for HEAVEN, while beautiful, there were times when the drums sounded too loud and destroyed the mood of the song...

LOL, while I have so much to criticise, I still think it's a great concert, and is my 2nd favourite Ayu concert. The reason why I have so much to criticise is because I expected a LOT from it after reading fan reviews and it being her biggest tour. AT05 still remains my favourite Ayu tour. :)

immel 4th November 2006 03:14 AM

^Let it sing in, maybe, with time, you'll see the complete glory of it :D. Although, I also still am unsure if AT05 or AT06 will be the better one on DVD. I want my DVD now <3.

I think the clouds for BTB... was only there for a short sequence? It switched like all the time, different scenes of trees, rainforests, beaches etc.

andre2907 4th November 2006 04:10 AM

Very nice concert. The moving screen wasn't very creative, Ayu staff used in the exact same way they did on U2 concerts. Actually, Ayu concerts are always very similar to Madonna's and U2's past concerts. I bet her next tour will be very similar to Madonna's last one.

AT06 had the show. It had the lights. It had it all.

...I'm so exploding because I'm finally able to discuss AT06 with everyone :D.

But the lighting on AT 2005 were also very impressive. As impressive as 2006.

immel 4th November 2006 04:23 AM

I haven't seen the DVD yet, eagerly awaiting it.

In the AT05 DVD I thought that the lighting was very lacking, very. But it can very much have been only because of how the DVD was edited/cut, and how the light appears in the cameras that pick it up.

Being at AT06 I really thought that the light show was something wicked, out of the box crazy, but I also thought back on the AT05 DVD, and when I watched it again when I got back home I could see hints of more or less the same effects used, but it was far from as apparent when watching it on the DVD.

I still found the syncing of certain effects used in a much better way in AT06 than AT05, though. The Born To Be... performance really is a ... eye opener, in a way. I think.

I need this DVD to pass my final judgement :D.

Coelacanth 4th November 2006 05:08 AM

I loved the intro, it was pretty cool. Born to Be... was awesome.

Startin' was great. alterna was freakin amazing, despite the fact the real vocals must have been edited.

I just saw HEAVEN. It's probably the worst vocal performance I've ever heard from her. That one last note was the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard OR seen, and that alone made it the worst ever. She hit a really ugly note in in Born to Be... too, during the bridge.

I haven't seen anything else, but I'm rather reluctant to see any more ballads after HEAVEN. I'm really disappointed she's being so careless with her vocals.

also alterna was kinda boring but the outfits were AMAZING....
Quoted for truth. The dancer outfits, especially that awesome huge headdress-feather thing was COOL.

After watching alterna and BTB, and only those two so far, i will have to disagree. GREATLY. On both the loud introductions of ayu's vocals in the first few lines of both songs, the lighting is HORRENDOUS. Instead of coming with a huge bang and shocking colours, it...fades in. Thats right. the light FADES in. During her most powerful segments! Mood=destroyed. Compare this with GAME of AT2005. Remember the chorus with the loud guitar after the second bridge, how the lights just went absolutely crazy? I didn't even go to that tour and the DVD made me all giddy inside when that part came, and I was watching it on my computer with some simple equalizer/fake surround-echoish effects.

and alterna. it was good, but again the lighting made it so unexciting. and the backing vocals are bad, especially at the "Hey...hey hey hey hey.." parts. They're too deep. The ball was a nice touch but it didn't really DO anything--just went to the center of the stage and back--that and it kept wobbling which didn't look too good =/. They could have really imporved this performance by using better props and background (the bubbles didn't really fit with the "redness" that the lights gave off at that point)

And again. outfits are tacky compared to AT2005. I think ayu really needs to lay low with all the flowery things.

EDIT; truehappiness, sorry to say this, but am I the only one that thinks the is this LOVE outfit makes her look...robotic? =/ It's all...squareish, uneedlessly shiny and the fabric is cut in a wierd way.

andre2907 4th November 2006 05:49 AM

^ Yes, on AT 2005 the lighting was specially amazing during the GAME part. Better than any lighting from the 2006 tour. But the lighting in both are very good and impressive in general, IMO.

[taskin.ayu] 4th November 2006 05:51 AM

I totally agree with Syphex for the alterna performance. It was a bit unexciting at the start. I expected more. Maybe some explosions of some sort, or better lighting. I didn't like how the song sounded live either, the rockyness wasn't heard very well until the bridge. >_<

Currently from the two performances I've seen I think AT05 is much better.

*hearT_Place* 4th November 2006 06:26 AM

I just finished watchint alterna. Visually it was wonderful. I loved the costumes and the movement and everything. Vocally...it wasn't bad for Ayu singing while squirming around/hanging off of the wire bubble thing, but I hope the vocals are better for other songs. The background vocals were bad. Especially during the chorus; they didn't blend at all, and I think the soprano was a wee bit sharp. Whatever the case, she was off key. And I could definately tell that avex tampered with the vocals in some parts. I would have liked to hear what her vocals really sounded like.

Born to Be... was a great way to open the concert. I actually liked the dancers' costumes. Yeah, they didn't match her's, but...I liked them anyway. And the vocals were good too.

The two performances I'm excited for now are is this LOVE and (miss)understood.

Seeing both shows live, I thought the lighting was far better in AT 06. Durring AT 05 I remember the stage was flooded with so many red lights so often that it actually made visibility difficult at times.

I really do think that those are the two best moments of the concert (I thought so live too). I do tend to be partial to her rock songs, but I didn't LOVE the alterna performance even though it is one of my all-time favorite Ayu songs. (if you go back and read my original review of the live show you'll see that even then I would have preferred alterna to be performed differently.) I preferred is this LOVE? and (miss) understood because it was just her and the band and she really gets into it.

If you liked the performance of is this LOVE? at a-nation 05 - it's a lot like that performance. Of course I'm sure that people will find little vocal things to nit pick though. :irked

Also, yes the vocals for Step YOU, Ladies Night, and alterna have been replaced. You are just going to have to take immel's and my word for it that she really did sing those songs live. The only one that may possibly have been lip synched from the start is Ladies Night, but I'm not 100% sure. Step YOU and alterna however I'm sure were live.

I won't say it's the worst ever. But I do echo with your thoughts with those notes like the last one in HEAVEN. Obviously she is trying to do a vibrato, but other sings don't FORCE it like Ayu does. It doesn't come naturally for Ayu and that's why she makes her mouth move like that, I mean no one would use vibrato and Ayu in the same sentence 3 years ago.

I really dislike the deep voice that she uses with some of the ballads. Especially said HEAVEN performance and also Rainy Day. However it was good with Pride though...

CAROLS at AT05 was a better vocal performance for ballads, heck all the vocal performances for ballads at AT05 were better.

She needs to stop the fake vibratos, don't make her voice too deep and sing higher which not only make them sound better, but also its something fans are accustomed to.

Tasked 4th November 2006 08:40 AM

well if you want good vocals.. Go see is this LOVE? + (miss)understood live... It's so frickin' unbelievably good!!

As great as they are, if their problem is with Ayu's voice being too deep then they aren't going to like those performances either...

[taskin.ayu] 4th November 2006 10:01 AM

I find it weird how some hated Ayu for having such a high voice and now they don't like her low voice. XD

I agree that.
I find ayu usually does a better job on singing rock songs than ballads. IMO, her voice suits rock better. Maybe it's because I LOVE rock music. :D :D

I think ayu had better vibratos in her 01 era.
Her vibratos (especially in teens & HEAVEN) now sounds forced, but it goes well with non-ballads.

I for one never hated her high voice provided it wasn't insanely high. The low voice just does not suit ballads. It suits other songs, I agree. The reason why I hate INSPIRE on CD but love it at AT05 is because of the live band and the deep voice, same goes for SURREAL. It's just the ballads really......

Luther10 4th November 2006 12:08 PM

My favorite performance so far is PRIDE, so dang powerful. I really dig her deeper voice. Is this love and (miss)understood are awesome too...

se7entheaven 4th November 2006 12:16 PM

guys...actually this TOUR DVD is nice o no?

I really wanna buy it even if some of you here 'ruin' my great expectations :(

hm......I just wanna see something nice because just by seeing some pics and the tracklist had made me high....

You're not alone about that, I'm not a great fan of that outfit, but I loved the performances so much that I couldn't care less, hehe.

I think that "flooding" was very apparent during the DVD as well, either too blue or too red.

The lighting during GAME was certainly amazing, but to me that's about the only truly amazing part of AT05.

As close as she was to me during a few segments of those songs... yes, it was live, it could be heard so clearly. Especially the hey... hey hey hey hey parts of alterna, those are the parts of that song that sounded the most different to me. I haven't seen the performance yet, but I listened to the mp3 of it. I'm still a bit scared of the DVD... if so much of her vocals has been replaced/severely tampered with.

Tasked 4th November 2006 01:23 PM

yeah.. robotic.. but extreeeemly HOT!! I dunno why; but I think this outfit is probably one my favourite Ayu looks ever. She looks, moves and sings really sexy; and in this outfit you can really see what a fantastic body shaphe she has!

and it was live; but it was really edited in some parts. In alterna she moves alot and she's in positions in which it's hard to sing. I really think they redid the audio a bit afterwards to make it sound better.. but that's okay; everyone does that (well. actually; most ppl just lipsync xD)

immel 4th November 2006 01:57 PM

When I get the DVD I'm so going to compare the sound of certain songs in it with the sound that I managed to record in the arena, low quality as it may be.

I agree on the itL? outfit :).

js_surrealism 4th November 2006 02:35 PM

I thought this was vocally inferior to the 05 tour. And she really, Really looked like a drag in that red wig. Favourite performances so far are probably STEP you and B&D.

Yukitora 4th November 2006 03:13 PM

^Her vocals were definately weaker this year (or less edited?), but imo this tour is just place fun and has beautiful elaborate sets. Sure 05 had the waterfalls, the chains, that MY STORY banner and the balcony, but this year we get arial performances, beautiful flowers, a giant chandelia, interesting intro vids/lighting and GOOD dancer costumes to make up for Ayu's less interesting ones :P

and less focus on peco/princess :P

im still bothered by that scene in B&D where peco is um... feeling that dancers sweaty chest...
