I'm going to stay in deep doubt about her manager actually saying she gained 5kg. She did look chubbier in that show, but a lot of it was thanks to the aspect ratio.

Looking at her latest TV performance she certainly does not look that chubby still. And I must say I personally didn't think she was any less attractive during that other performance :).

She's not skinny now... she's like 20kg away from looking skinny... And I believe she's always had something about those armpits... I remember Panasonic commercial (the one where she's walking into an empty loft), she also had some... cellulitis, perhaps? in those places.

Although she is a singer, rather than a model, I believe that the same applies to her as to Tyra Banks. Tyra couldn't keep up with all the dieting and she didn't have to, because she's paid her dues. I believe Ayu has payed them as well. If she gains a few pounds/kg, that won't make me like her less.

Oh geeze, like its a crime for someone to gain 5kg. How more superficial can some people get? She still looks good. If anything at all, she NEEDED to gain the 5kg.

I actually like ayu being a bit chubbier...I love the way she looks in heyx3...she looks so happy and loved :) and that is all I care about...Im not worried about her extra weight...her countdown lives are coming up and I think she will lose a bit of it.

oh and for those who still thinks she's pregnant...I don't think she can still have countdown lives if she's pregnant...all those running around and jumping...o_O...unless its sit down acoustic all the way...which I highly don't think will happen

yea the weight doesnt bother me too much. yea its not her usual cute little self, but shes still the same person. i do hope she loses the weight, simply because of her career and the way the media is about things like that. and if she gained anymore i dont want to have to worry more about her health. (*ear thing* already) and anyway 5kg isnt really that much like 11lbs, however she has a very very small body type, and shes pretty short. so anything little bit is really gonna show up. either way i still love her just the same!

Thanks for the article! I don't read The New Paper often. Ayu still looks a little chubby in her most recent performance, even if she seems to have slimmed down from when she first performed JEWEL. But I think she looks fine! I think slim Ayu is nice, but slightly-chubby Ayu looks happier and can look just as nice if she is dressed up. The 5kg is scares me a little… Although the idea of Ayu ignoring her diet really cracks me up.

I'm one of those who thinks if anything, she needs to gain some weight because she does look very skinny.

But really, 5kg isn't a lot and if people are thinking Ayu's chubby, I seriously wonder what people here will say about Asians like me who aren't fat, aren't the stereotypical "Asian-skinny".

thats what I say! Her doctor probably told her to gain some weight! She also was on vacation in America and we all know what happens when you go on vacation! Food food and good food :yes... I don't think Ayu needs to stick to her diet all the time... Everyone deserves treats! Besides, what better time to do a little indulging before you release a new album and start getting ready for a CDL... You lose alot of weight during this time of yer with her preparations.

She has to keep her diet if she wants to look fine. Now she looks chubby, her armpit areas... 5kg might not seem much, but at her height it shows a lot more. Hope she goes back to her normal weight soon.

yeah, i don't understand why there is such a HUGE fear among ayumi fans that she is going to retire. i just don't see it happening.

So what if she gained weight. Whenever I go home to Canada, I gain weight. And I lose it just as quickly when I come back to Japan. For those who are worried, with all the album promotion, rehearsals, etc, Ayu will lose weight. And I agree with Deli-chan, Ayu isn't about to retire, wedding, baby or not.
