According to Wikipedia's list of the world's most expensive music videos, Ayu's new PV JEWEL has ranked 16th, with a budget of over $1,000,000. That's 16th out of 16 but it's still a really high achievement :)

As for the list, I believe there's a tone of videos around the world that costed around 2 million USD or at least above 1 million, just that the info isn't always posted and people don't always bother filling up that list.

Yeah, that is what makes it so very unreliable. The cost for the JEWEL PV seems appropriate though, considering 100,000,000 of it was for the jewelry alone.

It's most likely not even nearly the 16th most expensive PV ever.

Well, who knows... I actually think it might cost 100 million yen, especially if all the jewelry (most likely) was on request. It DOES look VERY expensive. The video is extremely beautiful and very, very adorable. I can honestly say that "JEWEL" is the VERY BEST VIDEO OF THE YEAR 2006. Believe me, I know what I say, I've seen over 100 videos this year.

The only thing that is confirmed is that the jewelry for the PV cost 100,000,000 yen, if the numbers here are correct that leaves 18,134,731 yen for cast salary and other things. The animations might not have been cheap as such, but nothing compared to the cost of the stones.

avex really doesn't mind ayu spending tons when her sales is dropping O_O if so, why do we get such cheap pv like Startin', Born To Be... and Beautiful Fighters?

^ Cheap PVs doesn't equal bad. Take HEAVEN for example, that's got to be the cheapest (money terms) PV ever, but it's just so moving and powerful. Sometimes, simplicity is best :)

Besides, I enjoyed Startin' and BF PVs.

Anyway, I guess the money went more to the crafting of the jewels than to the pieces themselves. Must have taken lotsa money to assemble such intricate jewellery (the flying butterfly, the unfurling flowers, the tulips dropping jewels)

I think it's about right. I do remember reading that Max Matsuura gave away the costs of My Name's WOMEN, and he said that it's way more expensive then they would have thought. And of course fairyland is 240mil yen, that's a fact... And if JEWEL is 100mil yen with only the diamonds, it's probably over 1mil dollars in total costs.

Funny how all of Ayu's PVs on the list was directed by Wataru Takeishi.
Avex sure spends a lot on our little princess.. three on the list already! Watch her dominate the list in the coming future. hehe~

But this is not a definite list. There are probably many others PV's that haven't been recorded in this list because the source only counts the Top 10 exp. PVS

i never believe wiki for this type of things. i beleive the academic articles, but not for entertainment gossips.

But 100,000,000 YEN (that's how much JEWEL cost) Doesn't equal 1,000,000 US DOLLARS! It equals 800,000+ not 1 million + >_>

I remember there was someone who starred that PV as one of the girls and reported her experiences to AHO. I was like, WOW.

Of course it's NOT the 16th most expensive PV ever, but we can gladly say it's ONE of the most expensive PVs. And OF COURSE that site is NOT updated with any complete info either. Sad, but yeah. Wiki is trustworthy, but in terms of incomplete information, like this, you don't know. If people kept added to the list constantly, then that list would be accurate, but since nobody does, then well ya know.

Anyway I hope we get more of that director, I ACTUALLY LIKE the videos he's directed. Especially the little dance in fairyland

INSPIRE's dance was done by PECO.. blah. LOL I hate when PECO choreographs.

I will take A LOT of money and funding to out do SCREAM. It might take one of Japan's biggest collaborations OF ALL MUSICAL-TIME if they ever want to do that because the American industry at the rate it's going is no where near that point.

Maybe avex could pull an AyuxKuu collabo PV worth 8 mill? Haha; that would stop all the fan fighting.

It would'nt be hard to make a music vid more expensive than scream. 7 mil is not alot of money to major artists.

you guys.. it has been on news sites that the JEWEL PV DID contain real jewels.. they ARE real. and they costed 100mil yen.. that's almost 900,000 USD? So it probably is $1mil+ in total...

It's only on there because the PV was made at a later time, it wasn't finished when the album was released. That's how I understand it.
