The Official P!nk thread

Yes, P!nk and not Pink. Don't ask me why her name is spelled like that - I have no clue.

Anyway! She debuted as an R&B artist around 2000, 2001, known back then for - of course - her pink hair. There You Go, You Make Me Sick, and ID; Peace B - er, sorry, Most Girls - were her known hits around then. Then she flipped around to become a rock chick with pop and R&B leanings, giving us Get the Party Started, Don't Let Me Get Me, Just Like A Pill, Family Portrait, Feel Good Time, Trouble, and God Is A DJ. Recently, she released her fourth album, I'm Not Dead, with the moderately successful Top 20 hit Stupid Girls. Subsequent singles Who Knew and U + Ur Hand failed to chart in the U.S. but found success elsewhere.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P%21nk

P!nk is known for her fiesty attitude, biting lyrics, and raspy, powerful voice.

(And her hair. Sometimes.)

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 26th November 2006 05:22 AM

Addicted to U + Ur Hand.

Mad_Cactuar 26th November 2006 07:31 AM

Have you been monitoring my Last.fm? :eek It's creepy.

Yeah, I quite like her. Her singles are smashing, her albums are quite nice. her new stuff is pretty amazing.

U + Ur Hand
God Is A DJ
Who Knew
Family Portrait

bondingo 27th November 2006 04:43 AM

I own I'm Not Dead and it's one damn good album. There are a few songs that aren't so wonderful, but for the most part, it's gold. My favorites are Stupid Girls, Who Knew, Long Way to Happy, Dear Mr. President, and U + Ur Hand. I love her older stuff too. Most Girls was a great song, Mizzundazstood (however you spell it) was a good change, with more poppy tunes, but I probably like Try This the least. The singles just weren't very strong on that one. Overall though, I think she's a brilliant artist and I hope her success continues for years to come.

AFTERSCHOOL 28th November 2006 02:29 PM

Stupid Girls! Stupid Girls! ;D

Calico 28th November 2006 07:37 PM

I love P!nk, but only got into her because of my mother's addiction to Get The Party Started. I have to say that I'm Not Dead is her best album yet. (Although I've never heard her first one) I love every song on that album, whereas the Mizzunderstood songs got old relatively fast, and I didn't like most of the songs on Try This to begin with. (Except God Is a DJ...yes....)

Go P!nk!

*Petit* 28th November 2006 07:44 PM

I liked her song just like a pill, but other than that I think she's not that good. Her songs have turned really annoying lately and I can't stand them . =P

On a different note.. When she had a concert here there were a really large number of stereotype looking lesbians attending, is she considered to have a lot of such fans all over? I was quite surprised.

Well she is Pro-Gay Rights. I know that, as a gay fan myself, the line, "What kind of father would hate his own daughter if she were gay?", from "Dear Mr. President" was particulary appealing.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 29th November 2006 05:34 AM

P!nk herself had a girlfriend at 13 who dumped her for her brother. I remember her saying that in an interview.

PS, She does look and act like a stereotypical lez.

Miku 2nd December 2006 08:50 PM

U + Ur Hand is the only song I like

Ayu_Fan_00 31st December 2006 07:24 PM

Get the party started and stupid girls rock!

Dawnie 31st December 2006 08:18 PM

I love P!nk, she is great, mixing rock with pop and RnB. I love stupid girls and respect and do what you do she is very inspiring and her lyrics are amazing.

Jordan 6th February 2007 07:45 PM

Amazing woman, been a fan since her debut and finally got to meet her in December :D

Weslicious 7th February 2007 08:38 PM

I'm amazed she isn't big in the U.S. Like Anastacia aswell. Both huge in Europe but not so much in their homeland.

Try This is an amazing album. I saw her 'I'm Not Dead tour' and really enjoyed myself. Great artist.

I'd say that she's pretty well-known here in the US. If you ask anyone, they would probably AT LEAST know There You Go, Most Girls, Get the Party Started, God Is a DJ, and Stupid Girls. I was especially surprised when I was at a party and U + Ur Hand came on because everyone knew the words. I'd say she's pretty famous here.

Pink Breaks Kylie Minogue's Australian Record :grumpy

Quote:

Pink has shattered Australian Kylie Minogue's home record as the female artist to sell the most concert tickets in an arena tour Down Under.

Pink has been in Australia since April 14 and has played 35 gigs to more than 307,000 fans in Sydney, Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane, Adelaide, Newcastle, Canberra, the Gold Coast and Wollongong.

She says, "I'm kind of sad it's all over now. Australia's always been such a special place for me, and now it's even more so after the last couple of months."

Minogue's previous record, set on her "Showgirl Homecoming Tour" last year, saw her perform 20 concerts to 215,000 fans across Australia.

P!nks better in my eyes, at least in terms of talent, so I'm glad that she surpassed Kylie. I love them both, but P!nk has consistently delivered superb albums, Kylie has quite a few crap ones IMO.

..:Hot:Like:Wow:.. 12th June 2007 02:03 AM

haha, i'm happy for P!ink, she is awesome, I don't care she outsold Kylie. Kylie only did 20 concerts so it was expected... I would only be pissed if it was someone who did'nt deserve it like um yeah....

lol, Kylie has more crap albums cause she's released more but it all depends on personel opinion... on the other hand IMO she also has more better albums... Fever, Light Years, Body Language, Impossible Princess, Rhythm of Love....

From Pink I love everything except try this....

lol, something else I just realized... P!nk is much much much bigger in Australia than the US... seriously, what's wrong with Americans!?!

Jordan 13th June 2007 11:24 PM

She's slowly gaining music respect in the US after she lost if over there with Try This :D She deserves as much praise as possible, amazing talent!!

Check out this AWSOME VOCAL PERFORMANCE (oops caps) of her with the Metal Skool:

So, what do you guys think of the Shirley Bassey version of "Get the party started"

Freaking amazing!!!!!!

I agree with

The Guardian wrote, "Bassey is the only singer alive who could take the bouncing, enthusiastic R&B of the original Get the Party Started and turn it into a grand, imperious swoop worthy of a Bond theme; it's a terrific cover version, even if it perhaps didn't quite merit the album attached to it."

bondingo 16th July 2007 05:59 PM

That was actually a really cool cover. I had no idea it would be so good. Who the heck is Shirley though? I've never heard of her.

Weslicious 16th July 2007 11:17 PM

She actually did the whole song. It was OK on the M&S advert, but still...

@ bondingo: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shirley_Bassey :)
I think everyone in the UK at least knows of her.

Vinylfantasy 18th July 2007 05:28 AM

Somebody showed me this yesterday, it's fabulous!

X0_KiR3iNA_0X 19th July 2007 05:02 AM

OMG! I love Pink. I heard her new cd, I love all the songs on it. She has talent and his very different. Plus I loved her pink hair lol.

Jordan 20th July 2007 07:49 PM

I went to see p!nk sunday :D amazing!!!!!

Vinylfantasy 20th July 2007 09:10 PM

LOVE PINK! iv got both her concert DVDs and all 4 of her albums (im working on getting the limited edtition of mizundertood and the dual disk edition of im not dead.

my favorite album is probley Try This

AyumiFanGuy 29th August 2007 06:03 AM

P!nk has been a favorite of mine since day one. ^_^ I love her music, every song she's done. Not a one I don't like.

I'm Not Dead is by far my favorite album so far and my favorite songs on it are, in order: I'm Not Dead, U + Ur Hand, Dear Mr. President, Cuz I Can, Long Way To Happy, Leave Me Alone [I'm Lonely], and I Have Seen The Rain. ^_^

I'd love to go to one of her concerts, but I just don't have the money for it. :-(

The first post was done November 26.

U + Ur Hand got payola'd to death and it reached #9 in the beginning of 2007, I think.

Re:★ 8th September 2008 08:31 PM

So What is at #3 on the Billboard this week on downloads. Meaning it's become her biggest single to date. :clapclap

Negi92 8th September 2008 09:03 PM

I LOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOVE SO WHAT

Akutenshi 8th September 2008 09:51 PM

She was so amazing last night, she definitely stole the show. I can't wait for her new CD. :heart

dddaiyamondo 8th September 2008 10:04 PM

I'm shocked "So What" is her biggest hit ever on Billboard, it seems much less popular than songs like "Get The Party Started" etc.

You mean she's never reached #1? Wow.. I would have thought she'd have a couple under her belt at least. I like So What, its pretty fun and the video matches that.

thinkingoutloud89 9th September 2008 04:08 PM

PInk is not very famous in the US if I remeber right...she is much bigger in Europe

freedreamer 9th September 2008 06:43 PM

i just watched SO WHAT..her live performance...
I have NEVER heard a single song from her...and whoa! So What is VERY VERY GOOD!

any recommendations?

Ayumi27 9th September 2008 11:04 PM

You can start by Who Knew, Trouble, Get the Party Stated, Stupid Girls & Lady Marmalade, among others, to begin with

Re:★ 13th September 2008 07:32 PM

It's at #2 on Billboard this week. And was #1 on the US iTunes. #3 in Canada, #3 in Australia, #1 in New Zealand and #9 in Sweden which is her highest peak there! I can't wait to see how well it'll do here in the UK&IE! Also, Popjustice revealed half the tracklist for Funhouse yesterday. :D

panda♥ 15th September 2008 05:48 AM

P!nk is one of the only American artists I still respect and love. Her announcement and show of So What at the VMAs popped up on YouTube, I watched it and I was amazed! I used to own her first 3 CDs when they came out, but I lost them a year or so back. I'm thinking about buying them all again. :D

JaysenRyan 15th September 2008 05:50 AM

P!nk's new song is amazing and so is she.

blackmage 15th September 2008 06:50 AM

'So What' just keeps on growing on me, I already liked it after I saw the music video for it, I think that visual kind of helped influence how I heard the song. I haven't bought any of her albums since M!ssundaztood though her last album I've been meaning to pick up and purchase.. but even though she is releasing an album later this year, I hope she'll do a compilation album after or such because I'd be more enticed to buy that.

ALARM 15th September 2008 08:00 AM

Well I guess I'm the first one to not like the song.. it's think it's generic, has the same immature "Oh look at me I'm different because I'm not the average popular girl" vibe, and it's competely and utterly expected. I really wish she'd do something to suprise me, something a little different. She started out by trying to be different and unlike other pop acts at the time... but now she's trapped by that image, and has to constantly pretend she's any better than Britney, or any of the other pop acts she makes fun of. I really think she just needs to give it a break.

That's what P!nk is about though. Being different. People bring up her attitude all the time but I think it's great because she really is different. She makes fun of other pop stars through her music videos and lyrics but that's just how she is. It's her music and she can do what she wants with it, if her music is selling than people obviously like it, right? I really don't think she's trying to say she's better than anyone else though... She's just confident and enjoying life. :shrug

Akutenshi 16th October 2008 12:57 AM

THE ALBUM LEAKED, AND IT IS AMAZING. :heart

Vinylfantasy 16th October 2008 01:50 AM

Woohoo! *downloading* :shimmy

Partino 16th October 2008 02:26 AM

^me too ... I so hope that this album is going to be as good as the songs "So What" and "Sober" are.

Vinylfantasy 16th October 2008 02:53 AM

A lot of the songs are really beautiful but in a haunting sort of way. It's really good!

Akutenshi 16th October 2008 03:14 AM

It blows "So What" out of the water.

Partino 16th October 2008 08:12 PM

:OMG .. this album is AAMMMMMMMAAAAAZZZZZZINNNNNNGGGGG.

It's nothing like IND. I :heart it.

Celaphorce 16th October 2008 11:27 PM

^It is!, I think it'll be better than Britney's Circus(not bashing her cause I love her), Crystal ball imo is the best song on the album!!!

fuawas 17th October 2008 01:39 PM

i listened to the album and i love it!
i'm gonna buy it ^^

sanzo2011 17th October 2008 04:04 PM

ah !!! i love her " so what " ....it's pink-ish ( but i don't think her new album 'll be better than Brits 's Circus ) .

haikudasai 17th October 2008 08:57 PM

I really hope she releases I Don't Believe You as a single.

It's an amazing song and really captures P!NK's vocal ability that tends to not shine as much in her standard singles.

bondingo 29th October 2008 07:09 AM

So I bought Funhouse today, and it's really good. I just got through my first listen and I was definitely impressed. There were quite a few songs on there that I know I'll be listening to years from now. I'd probably go as far to say it's her best album yet, especially because I know it's only going to grow on me with time.

Most Addictive Track - So What!

Her speech rocked, it was very spontaneous and cool. Definitely deserves the "speech of the night" (fake-)award ;)

I still haven't bought the album, though - or even listened to any samples. =x
