I have realized that nobody opened a thread for this punk princess! What a shame! :(
Her previous two albums , "Let's go!" and "Under my skin", are superb!

Recently, I have checked iTunes store and found her new songs, called "Keep Holding On". Finally, she is back!

I hope her third album is coming soon because she releases a new song!!!

I believe it's Let Go :)

I do love Avril though. I don't care if people say she's a punk-wannabe or crap like that; I think her music's wonderful and doesn't need to be labeled. Under My Skin was a fantastic album. It's rare that I like every song off a CD in English, but this is one of those cases. Every track is wonderful. Take Me Away very well may be my favorite.

Avril's voice is a little irritating at times, her lyrics kind iof suck, but I do like her. I'll excuse her lyrics because... she's young. Not all young people are these great, deep, introspective wordsmiths. Not all people in general are.

The whole "PUNK/POSEUR" crap just annoys the hell out of me, though. Move on, population. It doesn't matter anymore. Listen to the music for whether or not you enjoy it, not what genre it "properly" belongs to (when the hell did THEY create punk and decide what it should or shouldn't sound like anyway? That whole genre labeling game is obnoxious). Both her albums were really very good (although in the Under My Skin pictures, she looks... disgusting, like she needs a few showers), but I'll give Let Go the nod here for its poppiness, for having a lighter, mistier feel... basically for feeling fresher and more outdoors and colorful than Under My Skin.

Although... Nobody's Fool sucked (all because of her god-awful rapping).

Yes, she did look terrible in the Under My Skin promos. It's all gothic raccoon went paranoid.

I love a lot of her songs, mostly her singles.

There will never be a pop/rock song as truly great as My Happy Ending. It's just amazing. So damn replayable, it was played on my local radio until the start of this year frequently. Never bores me and my friends too, perfection.

Also worth mentioning is Mobile. Oh my GOD this song is great. It's almost as good os My Happy Ending. And then Slipped Away is very pretty and touching. He Wasn't was catchy but rather empty and not very appealing after a while.

Ah... Avril Lavigne really do deserve her own thread. I really like her and her music alot. Especially, when she finally startin' to doll up herself. Wooo... Pretty bird! Maybe i dun't like Beyonce anymore if Avril keep dollin' herself up as women. :rolleyes

I read on Wikipedia that she's gunna release a new album soon next year on April. I kinda doubt it's true though. Anyone know 'bout this?

I like Avril's music. Two of my favorite songs by her are Complicated and My Happy Ending.

I personally love Tomorrow, I'm With You, My World, and Things I'll Never Say (the way she sings the chorus is hilarious) the best.

God, I want more Let Go-type songs ;_;

I liked her more when other people wrote her songs and stuff. I mean it's nice to be original but she was really good when she was faker.

I went to her concert last year, and man, it was awesome, she was really nice to the audience!

Me too, it was the first american album in which I liked all songs at first listen...Under My Skin was not as good imo, it took way too much time for some of the songs to grow on me. It does have my favorite song by her though: "Don't Tell Me"..there was a time I would listen to that song on repeat at exponential proportions. It's pretty rare for me to keep repeating a song on and on.

avril said 'keep holding on' was just written for the Aragorn movie, and the style of that song was nothing like the new album. she said her new album will suprise everyone. so i'm thinking she's trying a new sound.

Oh my god, so do I. I love that album to death, brings back memories of the old days. I loved those types of songs, seriously. :) I loved her style back then too.

This is new, seriously? I downloaded a bunch of rare/demo/b-side songs of her awhile ago and this was there. :) I love it to death, but it seemed old cause it wasn't her style (kinda more of a Let Go style. :) )

I've got a question.
I was at work and 'Innocence' from The Best Damn Thing was on the radio. Its been on quite a few times actually. What are the chances of this being her next single?

Avril makes decent music but sometimes her personality can become annoying. To the point where I forget that I like her music now and then XD I really do believe she's at her best when she's just herself though, like here:



Yeah, okay, she only plays like five chords here but her voice still sounds really nice.

Her new album sucks. Their's only three good songs on it. (Innocence, When you're gone, Keep holding on.)

Her old stuff was so much better. I think she totally sold out.

Wow, I'm really surprised we've never had an official Avril thread before. I could have sworn we did, but the only seemingly official thread was back in 2003.

Anyways, I really like Avril's music, but as a person she just acts so snobby and immature that I can't stand her. Still, I do think she's a talented singer and songwriter. Her second album is without a doubt my favorite.

The 1st album has good singles but I like her 2nd album better. Her third is sort of commercial on one side, but When you're gone is really nice.

I want a new album....:weep

I was shopping at Wal-mart one day a few months ago and I came across some Avril CDs. They were on sale for cheap except TBDT which was marked as a import and to my surprise was the...I guess....singapore version or something like that. I decided to buy all three of her studio albums and I have yet to listen to them. lol

But did any of you so happen to get the limited bonus tracks + bonus DVD w/ the videos? DDDD:

Ikr! I'm pretty sure we have another year to wait maybe. I can't really see another album at least until fall/winter 2009.

I saw Avril on TV the other day. She was in the CM for Canon digital camera.

I guess she has an endorsement with that product or something.

I thought it was really cool.
