This year 29 years old ayumi hamasaki, started as a model in the age of 7. White debuted with 475k while black debuted 470k on its first week. This made her become the only female solo artist in 36 years to have albums ranked 1st and 2nd on the oricon chart.

but previous year, ayu was affected by new singer koda kumi (I think thats what the sentence said but Im not 100% sure) popularity went down hill. Kodas last year best album sold 1.80 million copies. The company had income of 132 billion (I dont know if its profit or what) I dont understand the sentence after that. Something about singer. At the end it says Ayu placed 4th.

The 4th sentence says "Best Selling Artist of the company" while ayu ranks 4...so they're saying Ayu is sliding down hill and Kuu is picking up

^ Yup, that basically sums up what the section with Koda Kumi is about. I think they're just trying to create news out of more news. I thought it was kind of unnecessary, since the focus should be on Ayu. The very fact that she can still attract fans overseas like that is proof that it's still going to be some time before she's stopping.

oh thanks! ayu is the forth best selling artist in the company? I know koda would be like the first but who would be the 2nd and 3rd?? or were they trying to say the 4th in general in the music industry last year?

funny pics. they must like catching her off guard, lol! and about the ranks? wasn't there one where 1 was B'z, 2 - Mr. Children, 3 - Dream, 4 - Ayumi Hamasaki, 5 - was... someone i forget... but i remember seeing it somewhere here or elsewhere... but i know these names were in the top 5 in the highest selling artists of Japan.
