[Q]Is anybody having problems getting on AHS?
 

All day today I've been having some problems posting or going anywhere in the forum without getting stopped by a blank screen or having problems connecting to the server.
Its a bit odd, and its probably just me being paranoid, but the same thing happened last year with the big server crash of '06 or whatever that nightmare was.
If its just me then I know its probably just my connection or whatever. :yes

I keep getting that, or it'll take the pages ages to load up.

^this happened last year. It was mostly due to a bunch of threads and that's why the posting games forum was down the first time. Now its back up and there's problems again; who knows what the cause is this time.

The only way I can get anywhere is through my history.

Sakura_Genki was here when this happened the last time, but you guys (Austin, Foxxy) weren't were you? If its anything like last year, its probably gonna get worse. Double posts, long wait times, no control over editing or anything...
but it got better. So :shrug

it could be a one time thing... let's see tomorrow.

Yeah I was here, and it was really angering and annoying.
You couldn't do anything. Just to post something it took ages to do it.

i only need up to 6 hours sleep a day. ;P

yeah, but after everything that the site's been through, i can accept however it runs.

awful. horrible. you'd see triple posts everywhere.
Some times I couldn't get on for days. XD So I stopped trying. And then I would get on but then it'd suck.
Its getting better. Still annoying for me, trying to get on the home page is frustrating.

lol and now double posts everywhere :laugh

but yeah, we went days without being able to post. And then the server crashed, and that time we got hacked or something...by i wonder who...and...now i mean, it's annoying, but...to me worth it i guess.

Oh yeah! I can get back on AHS again! Yar, I came over to this section of the forums because I can't seem to get on AHS just before this. The index page kept appearing as a blank page.

Well, you never notice how much this forum means to you until one day, to your horror, you don't get to access it!

I thought it was just my connection all day, but now I see other people are having problems too. I hope it gets fixed soon. I thought I was going to die today.

ugh its happening to me too...haha i remember last year...i got so mad cuz there was a file i wanted to download that i put off downloading...and it expired cuz i couldnt download it...and i remember all the triple posts haha...it never happened to me though

Yeah, it's a bit better now. Happens from to time still this morning. Sometimes I have to edit a post twice for it to have any effect, strange :irked

Was frustating yesterday especially as I kept editing the Performances thread all the time. Kept loading blank pages etc...

I'm still having some problems getting on the home page. but after a few reloads its better.

Happening all day yesterday, and its happened a few times today so yeah its annoying me.

I remember last year aswell - that was even worse

The reason is the same as last time. The AHS server cannot handle large volumes of posting. If you want to help stay on topic when you post and take private conversations to IM or another site.

Are you talking about pages not loading? It's happening to me yesterday and today. The page loads but it's just a big blank white page and sometimes my posts don't post :(

the last time we had to say good bye to the games forum, will we have to do the same again if it becomes a problem? Why was it brought back? High Demand?

glad it is back online, first I thought that my computer had a virus again (let virus scan run and nothing) then tried the comp of my parents and thought stupid internet connection, glad the forum is back again n_n

I just got back from vacation, so when I signed in, the page was all white. and now when I'm clicking on threads, it's really slow, but my internet is fine, sometimes it loads but sometimes its all white.

same here. i signed in at like..10 am, and i first got on now at 12 pm, lol. it's going on and off, or just really slow.

after that last post it was all: Cannot connect to the server or whatever. this is the first time I'm on since then, and its okay now. (bet I just jinxed myself)

but if it is taken down, threads that a game worthy probably shouldn't be resurrected in the Chat Forum either (Show your Desktop, Your Room, What are you Wearing?, or What are You listening to?). (which may be why it was reinstated in the first place) It would defeat the point of taking down the game forums in the first place.

But all seems well for now. Hopefully it'll stay that way. :yes

I'm really glad the problem is fixed! It was so annoying: logging in over and over!

I thought that maybe it was my computer, because I just got back from Spain, and I hadn't used my computer in awhile. I thought maybe there was something wrong with my cookies. I haven't had any problems today, though.

Yeah, I thought the same thing when I came back from vacation...

I even tried to change my internet settings but that was to complicated for me...

Today I've only got a blank screen once! sometimes (rarely) it can be slow... but that's all :D

I was a bit surprised I couldn't post anything in the "Parlons en francais" thread, but I see it's a forum problem... I'll have to be patient. Good luck working this out!

last year was terrible. it was right around teh time i joined, which is why i hrdly psoted for MONTHS.

which is also why my post per day count is so low.

Seriously, I don't think it should've been brought back at all. It just causes more problems for regular users x.x

it was to an extent. A lot of traffic, the server getting hacked to some turkish site or whatever (remember that?) and a bunch of threads takes its toll after a while. This is nothing compared to last year. You couldn't get eon for days at a time and when you did it take forever to load one page.
So the staff began to close threads that were 500 or more posts, took down the games forums, cracked down on spammers and I think something was done to the server to strengthen it or whatever.

I can handle a bit of slowness after what this site has been through. Besides the only problem I really have is in loading the homepage. And sometimes the page goes white but I just leave and come back later.

Why was hacked by a Turkish site? What would they wanna do with AHS? (yeah, I'll just keep my imagination in my head)

If they removed the Game Forum again wouldn't more random weirdos come and complain? Again.

well I have sometimes entering now AHS (it shows me a blank page) but sometimes it works good, like now (no problems with loading the pages)

I've been having problems with my home PC getting onto AHS. With my Mac, I'm completely fine.

PC:
-Page refuses to load, slowwww~

Mac:
-Normal speed, page loads fully

Not having your posts count in one forum is not the end of the world :D I think too many people obsess over post count anyway....quality > quantity, right?

And yeah AHS has been pretty slow for me....I sometimes have to reload several times to get AHS to come up D:

AHS has been kinda fast for me lately. But when the front page won't load, I go to this page and everything starts working fine again. o__O

I don't care so much about the games... but I think it's nice to be able to chat in my mother tongue with other forum members. I think I'll have to PM them from now on.

Yeah, it was down the whole afternoon for me. It doesn't usually work until the late evenings. Less people on then probably.

I changed ISP a few weeks ago, and when I tried to get on for the first time on this connection, it just came up with a 403 forbidden error :-/ And I was like, crap my new IP is banned on this forum for some reason!

But it all seems to be working again now... crisis over :)

if other forums can load just fine, and solve their issues then why not this one :eviltongu it's hell slow and half of the time it doesn't load. I say (technical) staff do something???!

no, it's your stupid spam clogging up the server! I've been having problems all week :cry

A thread every now and then is not going to clog up the servers. People are just spamming them. In 10 minutes I already have a full page. If people don't like them, just ignore it and let it die. People have been bringing back all my old threads too. All the merrier, I suppose.

It was down 15 hours for me. Said something that "/forum/index.php cannot be found on this server". I'm glad it works again :)

I tried different type of ways to log on to here yesterday but no luck. :no

Happened last night. I tried to get in, but somewhat got a "404 error" - maybe it's because of another hacker break-in...

The server was offline for maintenance. No hacker, No death. Just maintenance.

I'm sorry to say this but what maintence have they done??? I mean all I've seen was a trashed thread of Nippon's funny funny thread....nothin' else. No changes at all...I see old old threads which I wish they'd get rid of this palce won't constantly keep crashing. I know the Mods are tryin' there best to keep this properly but I thought that since they shut the site down that they'd at least would have done that....and changed the style. (ie a Secret border or a Glitter/Fated border!!)

Maintenance can also refer to fixing bugs, updating the board to a new version, or other behind-the-scene stuff. We don't always see what it is they're working.

And they haven't added a new layout in forever, and I wouldn't expect one any time soon.

Don't know what they did. But the forums have been loading super fast for me now. Unlike the past few days, good job :thumbsup
