Why Ayu chose that day to release "talkin' 2 myself" ?

did everyone notice that many other J-POP artist release their album or single at the same day with ayumi?

ex:
Onitsuka Chihiro - Bokura Barairo no Hibi - 2007.9.19.
angela aki - TODAY - 2007.9.19
AAA - Red Soul - 2007.9.19
BoA - LOVE LETTER - 2007.9.19
ayumi hamasaki - talkin' 2 myself - 2007.9.19
....

Well, there's not much competition.

AAA's album is coming out in Sept, so duh. And BoA has no chance!

And Angela Aki's album is on a totally different chart.

A lot of stuff is released on a lot of dates. 9.19 is merely coincidence.

Would Ayu even have any say in picking a release date?

I think she might help in choosing the season/maybe the month, but the actual day I would think is mostly in the label's hands.

I don`t get why BoA`s sales are so low.. I like her.. I think I read it somewhere, and she was like almost on the last place or something..

because 19th is a nice middle date of September?...probably implying that her ballad single will be in the later part of the month that it is coming out

It's not only Ayumi, if you check the dates of other artist's releases, they're usually on the same day, like if they're in the same company.

why has BoA got "no chance"? "LOVE LETTER" is a strong song!

oh i would think the reason why everyone's releasing their singles is BECAUSE of competition :/

Having a strong song doesn't mean the rest is appealing enough for the consumer to purchase it. Generally, if single sales are low after a few years, there's very little chance to get back up. I like BoA though, just that Ayu's definitely getting the weekly #1.

BoA and ayu share a part of the same audience so that could be interesting. and since aki releases an album and onitsuka a single they shouldn't influence each other too much although they have a similar style. or it's quite the opposite and everyone goes for aki's album. >__>"

AAA (last single's first week sales was 24,892) and BoA (last single's first week sales was 26,215) has no chance against Ayu (last single's first week sales was 110,165). Angela's release is an album, so different chart. Also, Chihiro's last single only sold 18,836 in the first week, even lower than AAA. Another release is also Hitoto Yo's new single. But her last single only sold 12,203 in the first week.

So far, nothing to worry about.

She's got another two singles to release (including TTM) this year. And I'm glad to see her 30th no.1 single come out this winter. Then follows the album, yeah! =DD

Well the nice thing about Ayu's fanbase is that most purchase in the first week of release (which is what really matters for the chart placement).

That single was released before her best-of but also only a week or two before her album "&". And even though her best-of outsold "Secret" and even both "A BEST 2", none of her single has sold more than 100,000 in total I think.

i think avex choosed this day to make something like competition between singers.

i heard BoA changed the date to some other day because of her competition with othe rAvex ppls. Aka: she'd get totally screwed if she had to compete against Ayu^^.

Ayu prolly just wants to release that day...or maybe she's so divalicious she wants to rub it in peoples' faces about how her sales are compared to everyone elses....though she doens't always have as high sales as we believe she should.

Well, all CDs in Japan are released on a Wednesday ... The only Wednesdays in September are the 5th, 12th, 19th, and 26th

I figure they probably chose the date for two reasons: to avoid all major competition (like there is any all month haha, maybe only kumi and MAYBE ai and thats it ... and Ai is doing album chart so no worry there.)

And Two, to give enough time to properly promote and finish all works for the single, with maybe a little extra time, but not too much. Avex does not want impatient fanboys/fangirls.

I love the date. 19 was the date I went out with a boy for the first time. Now he is my husband ^^. and september 19 is a day before my birthday, so I welcome everybody who wants to gimme a birthday gift an Ayumi New Single. Thx ^^
