Foxxy_Fuyumi 24th October 2007 06:09 PM

sora2522 24th October 2007 06:25 PM

Beauty4123 24th October 2007 10:28 PM

yay! I love gravure <3 But~ I doubt she'll be posing in a bikini for the magazine. It looks like she's dressed like old Hollywood or something.

Beauty4123 26th October 2007 07:28 PM

yea, but she is still doing music right?

drewbilation 26th October 2007 07:34 PM

^ I don't see why she wouldn't. A lot of gravure idols sing and act and stuff while still modeling, though they usually retire from being a gravure idol to do those things.

stickyrice 26th October 2007 08:42 PM

I really like that cover she's on^^ it's very burlesque =)

LacusClyne 27th October 2007 11:32 AM

^ Personally right now I think it's a blander version of 'FREE'. But that's just me I guess. :|

elepop 29th October 2007 02:47 AM

"Destination Nowhere" is awesome. I'm not suprised, I've LOVED everything she has released so far! I wonder if it's gonna sell well though. Because of the recent incident... hehe.

haha, jkjk, i still luv ya (you have olivia set!! YAY!!!!)

UHPlus 29th October 2007 06:03 PM

i just knew that Destination Nowhere is composed by COZZi...the same composer who wrote quite a few songs for YUI ...

i starting to imagine YUI singing the song instead of ERIKA >_< cuz i dun feel the song as all even though i loved FREE a lot!!! ....maybe because erika sounded like she has water in her mouth when she's singing ... :P :P

edit...just found out 'Stay with me', 'FREE', 'Time to go home' were ALSO composed by COZZi >_< ...

i think she's trying to go the 'YUI' path..

stickyrice 29th October 2007 07:15 PM

I also thought of YUI when I heard the song which isn't a bad thing since I like YUI^^

well, they're both alike in alot of ways XD

who else did cozzi compose for? he sounds familiar...

elepop 29th October 2007 07:20 PM

Well, if she's going in the YUI's path, she's definitely rocking it more than YUI herself! :P Actually, I do like YUI's music style... A LOT. It's just that her voice is really irritating. Maybe I need to get used to it. I used to hate hitomi's voice, but now I LOVE it. I wonder if this could also happen to YUI for me.

And sora, lol. I don't think they are that alike apart from having the same role as Kaoru Amane! XD They seem to be totally different!

Nah I agree. It sounds a bit bland, cookie-cutter pop-rock. But then I doubt she'll steer away from this direction. Sony is not known for experimenting and taking risks.

cloud♥honey 29th October 2007 07:47 PM

YUI sucks, I hate her lol. DESTINATION NOWHERE IS PERFECTNESS BETCHES! Oh my god it's so damn good. I can't stop to listen with WISH (by ARASHI) and Aoku Yasashiku (by Kobukuro). The song is perfectness! Perfectness! Perfectness a lot. All I was waiting for, most than I was waiting! One of the best songs of the year.

cloud♥honey 30th October 2007 08:39 PM

Oh sorry sora, but I had to spread my opinion. Well I don't think the same. Erika isn't trying to be like YUI or OLIVIA and stuff, her songs are different than the others. Destination Nowhere is different of YUI's and OLIVIA's music stuff.

And why they released FANTASY then?

Raleigh 30th October 2007 10:18 PM

FANTASY was a b-side and also it's predominantly pop with some electro undertones. It's nowhere near experimentation. If you want to see some serious experiments look at avex. Though they might not always be successful they like taking risks. Seriously I wouldn't be surprised if they're trying to fit her in the niche of YUI and OLIVIA. And Destination Nowhere seriously sounds like something Livi would sing. It's not the end of the world anyway but bashing YUI won't get you anywhere, apart from getting her fans annoyed at you.

austin. ♥ 30th October 2007 11:08 PM

Her covers are so much more creative than Ayu's!

Funny I was thinking it was a fashion disaster gone horribly wrong. The regular edition seems pretty tacky. The first pressing looks decent at least. She still can't figure out she can't pull off blonde hair.

Ayu tried the huge blond hair too and it failed also. I don't think many asian can pull it off! And yeah, Erika definitely looks a LOT better with less makeup and normal hair like in her movies. She's a bit too extravagant as a singer. XD Blond is definitely not for her, she should stop LOL.

ok, that turned me off =(

she prolly could pull blonde hair, but i mean, with hair THAT huge, it's no wonder she isn't pulling it off XD

even the closed note premiere hair was huuuuuuuge

Nah it didn't. She looked hot in STEP you. The problem is that Erika isn't compatible with blonde wigs. She looks like a clown most of the time. I wonder if she has a stylist or something because sometimes her fashion sense is really off. She should stick to brown and black only. I like Erika but she thinks she can get away with any style and she gets carried away and the result isn't that great.

On the other hand the pv looks real nice and her hair looks natural.

I agree Sony is a non experimental label, but FANTASY had promotion in TVs, it was a success in the music stations and stuff. I don't know if it is such a B-Side or not because this. Well I think Erika is going well to me. Destination Nowhere sounded sooo different than FREE and Taiyou no Uta to me.

Well, nice covers. The promo pic is UGLY A LOT, I tried to make a set with that thing but I couldn't look at her face. It made me want to die :thud

I loved the First Pressing cover a lot but I was still waiting more. Funny, not much more, that's ok to me. Considerating the song is awesome AS HELL!

Raleigh 31st October 2007 10:37 PM

It had promotion. So what? Sony wanted to make sure to make "FREE" sell well to the point that they decided to give it a boost by shelling money for a promotional video to "Fantasy". In the end "Fantasy" doesn't have any special or different features from regular J-Pop.

Erika's career will probably be limited to that of an idol-singer, similarly to Leah and from the looks of it we'll be getting cookie-cutter J-Pop. The difference probably is that Erika will have more professionals to work with which will give her music a higher quality. Because up till now I have not heard anything which sounded mediocre and I'm pretty happy with this.

cloud♥honey 31st October 2007 10:43 PM

All labels want to sell well or higher than the others. It's a fact, all labels want to her products be recognized by the people. Ok ok, and not's that what avex do too? Make various PVs to the artists sell well too.

Labels are always so.

Raleigh 31st October 2007 10:59 PM

Um... that's pretty obvious. I just don't get what it has to do with Sony being experimental.

cloud♥honey 31st October 2007 11:11 PM

And Mika? I forgot her when I was talking to you. She's not the obvious. I hope Erika run her way, proving various different styles.

Raleigh 31st October 2007 11:14 PM

Mika experiments? Since when? Her music's either ballads or ballads. The only time she did something different was because of NANA when Sony was pretty sure that Mika would sell anyway, even if the quality wasn't that great. And they only did it because NANA was a craze back then.

cloud♥honey 31st October 2007 11:17 PM

She has a lot of experiments. Fine, she had a reggae song, a pop-ish song, rock-ish songs, western music, blues, ballads (as you said), instrumentals, "original" japanese songs and stuff. And by the way are you still thinking she doesn't? =O

Raleigh 31st October 2007 11:26 PM

They all sounded the same to me except the NANA releases. All of them were ballads or soft pop.

And some of the stuff you mentioned are not experiments but just random stuff thrown around. J-Pop, Western and ballads are not experiments. They are regular J-Pop and almost all J-Pop female singers constantly churn that stuff in the J-Pop Industry. Instrumentals is not a genre or an experiment. And I've listened to some of her blues/reggae stuff and it sounds very much like her regular stuff with some minor tweaks.

If you seriously want to see some bold experiments see someone like Ayu or Hitomi Shimatani who have experimented with a load of genres. Anyway there's no need for Erika to experiment. People like her pop-rock and she fits well with that genre without sounding like a chipmunk so I'm happy with her direction.

cloud♥honey 31st October 2007 11:36 PM

Yeah, I agree but I don't feel the same about Ayu. Shima is totally crazy and nonsense (that's a joke, no worry) to do various styles like them. Neva Eva was funny, I loved that!

Raleigh 31st October 2007 11:41 PM

You're serious? Ayu is probably the most experimental and daring artist in Japan. And Shimatani, I guess she has nothing to lose so we get a load of fun material. Neva Eva was an awesome release :D

cloud♥honey 31st October 2007 11:50 PM

Shima rocks, that's why I love her and her awesome voice. Ok, I have to say, I had to wait a time to accostum me with her strong voice as well but now she's quite fine to me.

Ayu? Oh, do you think this? I have to agree again with a thing again. Recently, I'm really impressionated with her stuff and "revolutions" in her music, but in old stuff I don't think it was experimental and stuff like it. I think they were normal songs. That's why I love her newest stuff. I just like/love some songs of her "older stuff" and no more. I was impressionated very much with knowing Japanese music before, that's why I thought I was loving her older stuff.

Since Memorial address, she's the best for me. And probably it won't change anymore.

Raleigh 1st November 2007 12:17 AM

Yeah most of her newer stuff is more daring and I enjoy it more too :D

LacusClyne 1st November 2007 02:16 AM

i was reading the above posts, and for a minute, i fear that the both of you are gonna start fighting.....then the topic start to change to ayu??? *ke ke ke*
