Nami Tamaki on American TV!
I was watching Dinsey channel, when all of a sudden a commercial for a new HSM behind-the-scene show came on. They mentioned HSM in Japan then showed a PV clip of "You are the Music in Me". I was like "Is that Nami Tamaki on American TV???". And it was! I'm not a huge fan of Nami (or HSM in any case) but I thought it was cool to see a Japanese artist on TV :D!
Full Story: Nami in High School Musical -Around the World- (American TV) Special The new year has already begun and starting with one great surprise is that Nami will be featured on a “High School Musical -Around the World-” TV special in America on January 18th, 2008. http://i16.photobucket.com/albums/b3...maroundjv8.jpg If you have–at least–cable television with the Disney Channel station, a CM(commercial) is promoting the special of Around the World HSM. The CM also contains a short clip of Nami singing “You are the Music in Me.” You can view the CM on the Disney Channel at any time during the commercial breaks, but the CM usually appears after tv shows finish rather then in between. The TV special begins at noon/11 o’clock on January 18th starting with a Hannah Montana Mega Marathon and after, High School Musical 2. Although, it's been my experience that Japanese singers being shown in America are kinda portrayed a certain way, and everyone i know thinks theyre more annoying than anything...then they apply i to all japanese music and...that sucks. Like Puffy Ami-Yumi...god... |

Been watching since 11(central) and Nami's video still hasn't aired. I'm beginning to think they won't air it till the evening.

They just played it. It was good. They only wore the colorful getups on the last chorus.
It started with Nami playing on the piano then showed scenes from HSM2, then of Nami singing, and simple dance moves with dancers, who started off wearing all white. |

i remember seeing Shimatani Hitomi singing When There Was Me and You (i think thats the title) one day last year when i was watching disney channel. Thats the only other instance where ive seen a Jpop star on american tv |

it's a worldwide thing for high school musical. they have artists from the world sing their songs and i think it went on some CD or something. i dunno, but it's basically more HSM promotion.

the only japanese versions of HSM that i know of are AAA - Minna Star! Nami Tamaki - You are the music in me Hitomi Shimatani - when there was me and you i think that's the only artists from japan who covered songs. |
