[News] Ayu's deafness news has caused Avex's stocks to fall

It has been clarified that the stocks had dropped instead of increasing. The amount of successful transaction on the 4th was around 155,600. After the news was announced on the 7th, the amt of transactions increased to 269,600. This is the highest transaction rate ever since 11th of Dec last year. Is this the 'surprise' koda was talking about that would make the stock rise?? (jk)

terra 8th January 2008 07:50 AM

Are they sympathy to Ayu...or just predicting that becuase of that news her sales would raise and make a big profit??

I hope it's because of their sympathy....

Isn't it funny? I thought it would fall? Why has it increased instead?

Because as odd as it is, usually something like this will increase record sales; just for sheer curiosities sake. Avex is probably already planning Ayumi's next single because of this, lol.

yes it's so funny and a big humiliation to Ayu but on the positive , we can see many people care about Ayu

LacusClyne 8th January 2008 07:53 AM

i rather it increase then decrease...or people will start to blame ayu.

truehappiness 8th January 2008 07:55 AM

It probably has a lot to do with publicity.

The deafness is very interesting, and it seems to be ALL OVER. In random European nations, to Australia, to China, and Japan! D:

Me too. I don't want them to blame ayu if the stocks dropped.

truehappiness 8th January 2008 08:00 AM

Yeah, it's kinda like the I am.. fiasco where her album's postponement LOWERED the stock.

I wonder why this made it go up..

AyUmIXx 8th January 2008 08:33 AM

woww...Ayu has really made a big influence to avex...and thanks God that the stocks are not falling down~

Raleigh 8th January 2008 08:37 AM

What's weird is that it affected the stock markets but didn't particularly boost the album sales..

truehappiness 8th January 2008 08:46 AM

Well, the news was only announced a few days ago. Like, one or two days ago officially. Before that, no one knew.

Perhaps the 3rd week will be more stable?

bluegie 8th January 2008 08:48 AM

that is quite a big increase... at least over 10000 points (I dunno much about stock tho.. is it common or weird to have such huge increase?).

And it's weird that the news doesn't improve the sales... rather, it improves the avex's stock... :P

Qt Mashi 8th January 2008 08:50 AM

oh thats good~ i think people feeling sorry for Ayu...

truehappiness 8th January 2008 08:50 AM

avex's stock was at an all time low earlier this year.. perhaps it.. rebounded?

I want to know what the hell max thinks of this.

AyUmIXx 8th January 2008 08:53 AM

when i first read the thread's title..
i thought that because of the news, the stocks are decreased...but to my surprise, they are increased!

bluegie 8th January 2008 08:53 AM

To be honest... I dun really think that news will provoke lots of people buying GUILTY. People who love and concern about ayu would have already bought the albums (that means, us). Normal people who might have interest on this album might be buying the album, but general speaking people will not buy ayu's album simply because her left ear is deaf.

This is like.. let's say Madonna's backbone is hurting again. I will think "OMG it's bad to hear that," but it will not make me buying her new album at all, cuz I dun have extreme interest on her albums anywayz..

Probably he's planning a new single which speaks about her problem. Or another special episode.

g~sus~ 8th January 2008 08:57 AM

news spread quickly hehe....i saw d news on a chinese malaysian newspaper...gosh i must say this is a hot news indeed

rikku411 8th January 2008 09:24 AM

wow, this was suprising... I thought they would've plumetted or something.

when i clicked the thread I was like, "oh, please don't tell me Avex's stocks plumetted... now everyone's gonna blame Ayu"...

I was surprised however... hmm, interesting... at least they can't blame her.

alternarist 8th January 2008 11:48 AM

well.. Singapore still has no news about ayu's deafness yet.. but i would thought that it would decrease.. but since it has increased, i wun say much. but i think its due to sympathy.. :(

AyuGAME 8th January 2008 12:04 PM

hopefully her guilty sales can rise too...and get number one position for this week..haha..
thanks for the news...ayu is so powerful

ayu_ready? 8th January 2008 12:08 PM

I think it's because of the sympathy people felt for her :yes

BoBo 8th January 2008 12:55 PM

10x for the news

Rebirthia 8th January 2008 02:42 PM

i'm a little stupid - do the sales have increased or not?

TITANIC 8th January 2008 03:02 PM

the stock incresing can make boost sales

i think this is like her strategy in marketing :D

cloud♥honey 8th January 2008 03:34 PM

Those were chocking news. I think it increased the sales of GUILTY and it will increase more.

ayumisrael 8th January 2008 03:38 PM

That's cool people are caring though how come avex's stocks went up and not ayu's? (I think).
What an A has to do with a G? if you get what I mean like... ayu's stocks should go up and therefore avex's, but not only avex's to go up and ayu's not lol.

ian lim 8th January 2008 04:08 PM

i also read the news from the local newspaper.... and today, singapore TV news also report about ayu!!! so many people will support ayu!!!

minna 8th January 2008 04:12 PM

I hope the sells will increase like the stocks
it would be really great

Rebirthia 8th January 2008 04:22 PM

unnn, ok, now i uundertand... well, i suppse they have increased the stcoks so they may have better sales in the following weeks.

elepop 8th January 2008 04:26 PM

Well... That's a bit strange. But since it's positive, I guess it's fine...

I don't really see it as they "care" for Ayu. It's more like pity to me...

astameth 8th January 2008 04:31 PM

It's not sympathy, it's easy profits. The investors knows that, this news will help sales. Sympathy from the public, fast and easy profits for sharks. (Sure that some of them were happy to learn the new.)

elepop 8th January 2008 04:34 PM

^ But why would sales go up? Pity sales? I'm pretty sure Ayu doesn't want that.

And as we can see, the sales did not go up

criminal 8th January 2008 04:38 PM

Maybe it's because of EXILE's amazing sales and Ayumi's okay-ish sales that potential investors would like to invest in avex. We all know about the Kumi album that's being released soon.

Halla 8th January 2008 04:45 PM

I think it's less about Ayu's personal issues and more about the fact that people are expecting Avex to have a good year this year.

Ayu
- Guilty
- a huge arena tour across Japan / Asia

Koda Kumi
- Kingdom. a million seller ?
- first full arena tour ?

EXILE
- fans getting milked with a new best of collection ?
- arena tour ?

Probably... I don't think Kingdom will be a million seller though, Black Cherry hardly is (I mean it is but not by a lot).

I don't think that avex has a female singer that can sell a million for an album anymore.

Halla 8th January 2008 05:26 PM

I think Kingdom will sell past one million. it's been awhile since the last kuu album and it's released in a good time. there isn't much competition and I'm sure as soon as Ayu is "done" with Guilty, huge promo for Kingdom will begin.

btw I Think on oricon Black Cherry is just above one million, but Avex reported like several hundred over million copies sold ?

also I weren't there rumors of A-nation having a few gigs in Asia (China/Taiwan) this year too?

avex always exaggerates the sales to make their artists look better.

Yes I think there were rumors or actually some statement by avex that the next a-nation will be also in Asia.

Halla 8th January 2008 05:33 PM

I don't think they exaggarate. I believe the numbers are from their their reports to investors, and they are public and lying to investors/owners is a fraud.

there's just a lot that Oricon doesn't count. do the actual sales for every artist can be like 10-30% prercent more than the number oricon reports. like most of the overseas sales?

criminal 8th January 2008 05:41 PM

I don't know... Black Cherry sold [Oricon-wise] just over 1 million with a quadruple A-side that sold ~400k [all 4 songs were on the album], a double (ballad) A-side that sold ~300k and a huge ringtone hit that sold ~270k.
For Kingdom we have a single with 4 new songs that sold ~200k [only one song is on the album], plus other singles with sales around the 90-120k mark.
I'd have to be REALLY optimistic to see Kingdom as a million-seller.

Anyway, yeah, I think Ayumi's Asia Tour 2 announcement helped the stocks rise, too.

avex sales report is not copies bought by the consumer( like oricon's). what they report is Copies sold to stores, third parties, etc
you can check all of that in RIAJ's yearbook

i know that because i did a market research on japanese music industry this year.

ok back on topic, I think its not just ayumi that made the stock rise, i think its mainly EXILE's doing. dang if i was an investor i would buy some avex stocks looking at the amazing sales their album got.
and i do agree ayu's news did help her boost the sales of guilty (intencionally or not) , due this public relation boost i think most of the investors saw an opportunity to dip some cash into the whole loss ear wagon.

but i highly doubt that rise is 100% ayus... still, this are great news for all avex's artists

Neo Daydream 8th January 2008 06:44 PM

she's getting more attention... worldwide attention... so itz possible that the ear problems could take her global *shrugs* i'm glad the stocks are rising tho ^^

I think they do enhance the numbers a little or report them in a way that looks better. The report is to attract investors so they'll probably make them more appealing. Like I imagine they report the copies sold to the stores which might not have been sold in the first place to the customers.

The stocks rising thing is a good thing. Many artists have been having low budget singles (compared to 2005-06). This might mean avex will spend more on certain artists.

I agree. I don't think it has anything to do with Ayu. EXILE already has a million selling album + with their 3 Best albums next year + a dome tour, I think a lot of investors are buying avex stock.

i'm sorry to bother, i don't know anything about Koda,lol..

omEigaMan 9th January 2008 12:49 AM

Actually, if I'm reading the Japanese correctly, it doesn't say the stock price has gone up. In fact, it's dropped a touch (13 yen). The article says that the amount of trading of Avex' stock has increased - so it's become more active on the market. That could be because some people want out and it could be because others want in. If the price has only dropped 13 yen in the last day (that's about 1% - last close was 1,337 yen/share), it would appear the overall price effect is minimal. We'll have to watch it for the next few days.

truehappiness 9th January 2008 01:42 AM

Stocks change every day though..

Why would it happen after Ayu's announcement? :|

~X2RADialbomber~ 9th January 2008 01:46 AM

It wouldn't be right considering she was the one who made Avex rich and kept them going strong. If you think about it, it would be really messed up and would probably cause me to go over and hurt them all! xD

Wait...I don't understand. You just said that on the 7th the transactions increased, so how does that make the stocks decrease? :tired

And 13 yen really doesn't seem like a lot. And I don't think it's fair to blame this on Ayu. I don't even understand how an unfortunate health problem with her could make the stocks drop. O_o

babamon 9th January 2008 09:47 AM

^Transactions in the sense of ppl both buying and dropping the stocks.. total up to 269,600.. since at the end of the day avex lost 13yen stocks.. means out of the 269,600 transactions, there are mo ppl dropping stocks than those buying them..

It's said to be the highest transaction rate so far.. the previous one was during 11th of dec..

As of today, the stock has now gone up 25 yen/share. Stocks generally fluctuate every day, so even though there's increased trading for avex, the price is currently staying about the same.

Anyone who wants to track Avex' stock can do so at the Tokyo Stock Exchange .

I couldn't get a direct link to Avex' stock page that would actually work, so you'll see a "company search" area. Just type avex. Then when the results page comes up, click the "Display of Stock Price" button.
