Son Dam Bi is certainly one of the most hyped names to debut in Korea this year. The 24-year-old newcomer has previously appeared in music videos for Param and MYV and various big name commercials, shooting to stardom with an mp3 player CF in which she unleashed her dance moves opposite Poppin Hyun Joon. The buzz around the young singer was so high, MSN Japan made the unprecedented move to give her special coverage before her official debut, closely documenting her rehearsals and training. The video documentary ended up attracting 480,000 visitors in just five days. Son Dam Bi trained especially with a well-known American choreographer in preparation for this album, and her dancing has been so impressive, people are already calling her the female version of Rain.

Son Dam Bi's highly anticipated debut single comes with five tracks that give her ample opportunity to show off her vocal and dancing talents. Hip hop dance number Cry Eye is produced and composed by Jang Joon Ho, who previously wrote hits like MC Mong's "180 Degrees" and Jang Woo Hyuk's Last Game. The lyrics are provided by Brian Kim, who also penned Shinhwa's Once in Your Life. Son Dam Bi leaves a deep impression with her husky voice, which matches perfectly with the track's strong beat and melody.

Her first album is coming... It was produced by Madonna's Peter Rafaelson and more renowned musicians in U.S. She was in Los Angeles for training new dances and recording new tracks. The dance training took place at the famous Millennium Dance Complex, where Britney Spears and Jennifer Lopez were trained, and the recording took place at RMC Studio, which belongs to Madonna's producer Peter Rafelson. The album will have more refreshing and classy tracks. It will be released in march.

Woooot! My Korean artist list is getting bigger now! hehehehehe I starting like Korean music more than Japanese music now! Korean music sounds so much like American music. Japanese music is starting to sound a...yawnish too me but I still have luv J-music though. lol

J-Music has much more potential to me. K-Music is so americanized, it's so comercial. I love CSJH, DBSK and Son, but I have to say that they are comercial.

She's okay. I mean I can't see her being the female RAIN, let alone enough competition for Hyori Lee, BoA & Chae Yeon.

Well, I don't think she fits with the definition "female Rain". She's more than it, not just a female version of a famous dancer/singer. I like Alone/Honja to death. It's one of the most lovely and painful ballads I heard in all my life. It makes me feel emo, lol.

Cry Eye was actually just a single. The mini-album is released on the 29th of this month.

Thanks to Richie I'm now in love with her music. This woman is great. I haven't heard such great Korean music since...a LONG time. But she is no Rain; this girl actually has good music ;)

By the way, I didn't like the rest of the mini-album. Looked like they gave all the budget to the producition of Bad Boy and just recycled some poppish songs to the rest of the album.

I am itching for some new material from her! I liked her second mini album, the ballads were better than I was expecting.

I'm listening to it now, and it's really good. Her upbeat dance tracks are just as good as her ballads, in my opinion. It'd be a shame if she joined a group - she can go farther as a solo artist.
