[REVIEW] of GUILTY album from a JPOP fan [blog removed]

read this guy. its a good unbiased review. although not from any professionals out there.

synopsis:
GUILTY has gotten a lot of criticism by people who think it sounds like everything else Ayumi Hamasaki has done, and they are sort of right. She might be up to her old tricks again, but it’s never sounded so damn good. The album contains her most emotional and serious material to date; each track containing excellent lyrics and so on. Unlike her previous album Secret (which was poor in the construction department), the transitions are smoother and the interludes are better as well. The songs of GUILTY feel more put together and you could tell that Hamasaki put a lot of thought and work into this album because the overall production value is excellent. I guess you could say I’m guilty for enjoying this album...

Aaawww. It's very short and un-professional (as you said) but i love when people talk good things about my ayu. Thank you!

EDIT: LOL sorry, i didn't see the link. It's not short at all XDD!

yoshino 25th January 2008 06:46 AM

I wish I could review that well. That was very professional writing, and it was enjoyable to read.

Is it beyond the sea from this board that wrote it though? It seems like there could be a correlation.

KarenPang 25th January 2008 01:26 PM

thanks for posting . I actually saw that review before cos I actually bookmarked the blog's address on my labtop .

I like the way that the writer writes for all of the entries that he penned . Could tell that the entries that he wrote are not biased & are written in a very professional manner .

ian lim 25th January 2008 01:30 PM

yeah... Guilty is better than Secret or missunderstood anyway. I really like this album. there's no filler at all. Do u guys agree??

Minttulatte 25th January 2008 01:36 PM

GUILTY is way much better than Secret. :> I think it's even more better than (miss)understood, which was my favourite album from Ayu for a long time, but GUILTY surprassed it when it was released. I love it. <3 And I love (miss)understood, too, because that's awesome album. A total kick ass album along with GUILTY~ <3 Interludes work really nicely in the album, though I couldn't understand why there was so many of them at first. Nowadays it doesn't even matter at all. I love those interludes on the album. Marionette -prelude-, Mirror and The Judgement Day are creepy. :0 Really, They make shivers go down my spine. :3

And the first review was done better than the second, and I agree with the first reviewer. :3

KarenPang 25th January 2008 01:54 PM

I listened to all of ayumi's albums with the exception of her 1st 2 albums . I like all of them actually . She shows that it doesn't hurt to experiment with 1's music & she continues to churn out great music from every album she makes & I respect that because not every artiste can do that & to maintain such a great say/control over the way she runs things .

ayu_ready? 25th January 2008 02:53 PM

I agree with that guy :yes

criminal 25th January 2008 04:36 PM

Yeah pretty much.

cloud♥honey 25th January 2008 05:16 PM

It's an ok review. Not as great as ones I read before. It's not time for this discussion, but Secret is too much better to me :P

heartplace83 25th January 2008 05:43 PM

well i actually dont know where else to post it. just wanna share it with people here. mods can move it if its not rite. besides, bloggers nowadays are pretty much as influential as the newspapers/tv ;P

BoBo 25th January 2008 07:15 PM

10x for this :)

DestinyWishes 25th January 2008 09:28 PM

It's a pretty good review, it looked kind of professional as well.

letthemeatcake 25th January 2008 10:22 PM

Dang! That's a very interesting review and very well written... I wrote a review on GUILTY at http://www.geocities.com/letthemeatcakeonline, but...it's not very good... This one sounds very professional!

ayuayu798 25th January 2008 10:48 PM

nice review!!

4ever*ayu 25th January 2008 11:23 PM

nice review, GUILTY has satisfied many Jpop fans out there.. :)

truehappiness 26th January 2008 06:31 AM

Yeah, reviews =/= news. Just because some newspaper crap review was here doesn't mean that blog ones belong here. :|

namiie 26th January 2008 08:04 AM

Sorry to be a party pooper, but I really do not think this fits in "NEWS", which is more appropriate for more official, professional things. If we made a new thread every time a fan decided to review an Ayu album, we would probably witness an AHS slowdown again like a few months ago. You could have posted it in the "Chat" section if you really wanted to.

This review is decent. Though I myself like GUILTY very much so, I oftentimes do not agree with what this Beyond the Sea guy says. I mean, he gave "Destiny Line" (Leah Dizon) an astonishingly high grade of A-. That throws his credibility out the window :laugh

CHE.R.RY 26th January 2008 08:04 AM

I agree with the part about 'Secret'. The album was sort of poorly constructed IMO. Plus, I wasn't that impressed with the songs :(...There wasn't that much of a flow in between the songs while GUILTY's songs seemed to really be welded into each other.
But anyways, nice review.

That's a really nice review!

I agree with this person though. I think GUILTY is alright. IMO though, it sounds like a sequel to Secret..but worse. IMHO, Secret was constructed really well and better than GUILTY. I think GUILTY didn't have that certain speciality about it as Secret did. Nevertheless, I'm glad that put together a nice album like GUILTY.

Amai Yume 26th January 2008 10:24 AM

I've read this review for GUILTY and I like it. GUILTY is one of my fav Ayu albums and it is easy to listen to all the way through (well except fated but it's growing on me again). I've also written a review of the album on my blog. It's pretty long and I'm not trying to get off subject...

Luv ~Venus~ 26th January 2008 10:57 AM

^:roflmao

I'll read it later Amai! Matter of fact, I'll add it to my faves...so that I won't lose it. lol

I just wanna know why Secret was poorly recieved than Guilty was though? I mean, like I said earlier, GUILTY sounds like a sequel to Secret. Ugh! No luv for Secret! :weep

naxxo.licious™ 26th January 2008 11:02 AM

^ I'll read it later as well Amai Yume

WOOT!! So many GUILTY reviews XDD!!

fallen_crystal_h 26th January 2008 03:47 PM

That's nice..

catcher_inthelight 28th January 2008 06:58 AM

WOW good review....long though......

Amai Yume 28th January 2008 08:59 AM

haha, I've always liked em long as long as they have something to say. So I tried saying what I could about GUILTY and since I enjoyed the album so much, I had a lot to say. This album impressed me a lot :)

KuroixShiroi_Namida 28th January 2008 11:01 AM

I love reading reviews, especially positive ones ehehe..

lfe. 28th January 2008 06:52 PM
