Yeah me too. I find it kinda weird that people say her eyes are "too big" since they're just big for Asian standards and not European standards. Actually most people around here appreciate when eyes are deep and "large". They portray more emotion. Girls here get compliments by guys for that reason ;)

Mate every avex artist goes through a transformation when they sign a contract with them. Kumi too was extremely different from her teenage days. She even had her mole removed and went on a diet. Probably also went under the knife on other things.

It's all about image in Japan and all artists are willing to change in order to be popular.

Anyway it's kinda mean and immature that certain people here are celebrating over this. It's not fair if she does lose her contract over something so small.

Not really. In my country a natural look is more valued in a celebrity because they appear more "down to earth" and approachable. More fake-looking celebrities tend to be well.. made fun of over here ^^;

However in countries like Japan, people have these idealized image of celebrities and that's why they take it so badly when the celebrity does not appear as perfect as they imagined them to be. Of course many US and European celebrities go under the knife.

Personally I wouldn't change because I like the way I look :P but to each their own.

Scandals in Japan wont bring you fame but shame. Her Cds buy at most teenagers, and thanks to this their parents wont buy them the CD and wont allow them to listen a singer who offended their pride.

What you're saying doesn't make much sense to me. There is no news anywhere saying that they fired her. A huge company like Avex will not fire an artist like Koda Kumi just because of something she said. Artists make mistakes, they are humans, just like everybody else. Besides, that's bad wording because a recording company doesn't 'fire' an artist, they terminate their contract.

I'm not a fan of Koda Kumi. I'm not interested in her, even so, what others are saying makes a lot more sense than what you are saying.

I think you don't know how the Japanese music industry works mate. Usually it would take something much much bigger for an artist to get fired. When a scandal takes place usually the record label takes the artist away from the spotlight so the audience can "cool down".

There is no way avex will dump koda over this scandal. It is still not official if her endorsement deals are terminated. As of now her sites are just temporary closed.

on the other hand, I read in the chinese newspaper the empress of the imperial family in Japan gave birth to the prince after she was 35....so in a way koda 'offended' the imperial family. o_O...

the fate of Koda's Viseé contract is still undecided.

I do think it's likely tho that she'll lose plenty of her commercial endorsement deals. The advertisers might not want to wait for her to end her hiatus, they need someone for promo-work sooner.
There's no shortage of suitable idols/models/artists who to pick for campaigns, why pick Kuu who might possible be hated by a important customer base instead of someone new & fresh?

I didn't think Kuu was a good pick for viseé anyways, I don't think Kuu has the face for make-up ads & beauty shots.

If koda were to be replaced by a new spokesperson for visee, I highly doubt they will use ayu again. They already had her and plus her image moved on to a more mature higher class. Brands like christian dior would be more suited for ayu. If Erika didn't screw up, I think she would have a high chance to be the next spokesperson. Leah? I dunno...

I wasn't fond of Kumi's Gilette ads either. Kumi doesn't have long legs in comparison with artists like hitomi. Plus there's no shortage of models which have long legs which could've done a better job.

With regards to Visee, well Kumi wasn't bad especially after Beni. Imo Beni was the most mediocre Visee contract. Kumi just has her hit and miss moments, where sometimes she looks good, while others she looks awkward. However Ayu seemed more fit for that role in her time. Anyway if Kumi gets replaced it'll probably be someone young since Visee is usually focused on fresh faces.

I still think Otsuka Ai is the prettiest in avex but iunno if she'll be suitable for visee though. Leah Dizon? She doesn't look pretty much.

Otsuka Ai is more cute than anything, I don't think she's suited for Viseé which is more sexy & hip.

Viseé really downgraded after Ayu. Beni is really fug & I just don't think the face is Kuu's best asset, I have to admit tho that her visee promos are probably the best photos of her.
Anna Tsuchiya was alright, but I'm not too fond of her either.

I think alan would be best suited for a cosmetics campaign, but her look is more classic so maybe she'd be better suited for a bit classier brand like Kanebo or something?

Okay, I can see that compared to Otsuka Ai Ayu can look fake, but compared to Koda Kumi, I think as far as the makeup-airbrushing fakeness goes, IMO it's about the same level. (unless you count in those uber brushed panasonic commercials)

There is no ideal model. Even the supermodels are not ideal. But I dunno, I think Visee type makeup actually doesn't suit her that well (I really think they're better for people with paler complex).

Hitomi Shimatani would be a gorgeous model. Too bad Avex doesn't give her the big promotions.

I have to agree with ayu_ready. Kuu doesn't have an "attractive" face. Honestly, I don't even know how most of the guys on her can call her sexy or hot or whatever. In many ways, Kuu looks like Ayu....sorry to say. Both Ayu and Kuu can't be consider "cute" without make-up on. They wear too much make-up and they look fugly without it on. I do like some of the Visee pics/CMs though.

The only person I have in mind that fits the Visee image is BoA. She has very charming natural look. She doen't wear too much make-up and in most of her pics, she wears little make-up. Although Hitomi Shimatani is very gorgeous and fit the Visee image as well, I doubt she can get a contract with them because of her popularity.

Hmm, I don't really think BoA is extraordinarily pretty, she has very typical Korean features, and I've seen many girls around here that resemble her quite a bit. Kuu isn't someone I would call, "pretty" she seems to have more of that "hot" aura than pretty, although with the right makeup and facial expression she would be. Ayu is more of the pretty person to me as she has more distinctive features than the other two, and her face isn't that easy to replicate.

I do agree though, "SHE" was not the one who stopped promotion, (though I stopped reading after page 2 because I wanted to hypothesize and then be proven wrong later because I'm weird like that) I firmly believe Avex did and Koda said that to tell her fans in a modest way that she doesn't want to promote. It could be a combination...avex not wanting to promote and koda not wanting to do it anymore...or it could just be koda doesn't want to be asked about "Hey about what you said" on talk shows, so she'll let it simmer down for now.

Anyway, if anything, I'm pretty sure we'll theorize forever...sad thing really.

P.S. all the news stations talking about koda's statement is most likely gonna say "her company recently ceased promotion on her recent album" aka...free promotion.

Koda has been kicked out from Kirin and Honda too. And a new Venus Gilette commercial was stopped from filming.

But Ayu has less than 0% possibility to get Visee contract again and so it is for all the other Visee Models of the past (Namie Amuro, Beni Arashiro etc.) they need to find a new model soon...
