New single! 「Mirrorcle World」! 4/8/08 release!
 

4 different versions.

I felt like it was obvious that she was gonna do this..

She rerecorded some of her older singles. And the CD+DVDs are housed in "gorgeous portrait slipcases" that are DVD-cases. [limited first press it looks like.] Which means that the +DVD versions will be the only versions with limited first press.

The difference between the first CD+DVD/CDonly and the other one is that one has YOU / YOU instrumental and the other has Depend on you / Depend on you instrumental. Both songs will be remade into 10th Anniversary versions.

Life has no PV. The reasoning for this could be that there is simply not enough time to shoot/edit a PV in month/less [especially when she JUST recorded Life]

Thanks for the info. I was hoping the new single would have the new song as the main track, so I'll probably pass on this as there's no PV for the new song. Hopefully the new song will be on the next album so I can have it on CD in future.

April 8th is the day of her anniversary.

Basically, the single will release a day early and have an edge on newer releases. [It'll release on the day where releases usually are absent for the week..]~



You know, it could be that she will make a PV for Life later..

Or maybe.. she composed Life and this is another case of Will.

Life is likely to have no PV because of time constraints. There's a little more than a month until this single release.. which is not enough time to shoot and edit a PV. Maybe it'll pop up on the album? :O

She's never remade a song before like this and I think that if she did include it on the next album, it'd be a huge waste and kinda.. not fit on the next album..

It'll be strange as to how she deals with Mirrorcle World. Kinda like the black sheep of her discography at the moment.

Perhaps it's kinda like saying "Well, why wouldn't Fly high be on the next album? It was recut after the album released WITH A PV. So why not?"~

I dunno, tbh. She's never remade the instrumental tracks on an album up until now... D=

^well I haven't been following Mirrocle World, but if the first was a prelude why wouldn't she put in the new song?

She didn't reshoot the A BEST 2 cover, what i'm trying to say is the different cover version of A BEST 2..

I wasn't really surprised when poker face wasn't included cos I know ayumi kinda doesn't like the song because around that time when the song was released , her grandmother passed away .

Well, because technically, Mirror and Mirrorcle World are the same song. Mirrorcle World is an extended Mirror.

If you added a few yeah yeahs and wow wows and some more choruses/verses to Mirror, you'd have Mirrorcle World.

It'd be strange for her to put it on the next album.. like recycling in a way [which for this single right now, is DEFINITELY not recycling, as it looks like she went all out for the production of it]~

It's not that Mirrorcle World won't fit, it's just that... Mirrorcle World would've already half-been on GUILTY. This is like the situation with It was that was supposed to go on (m)u but was held back for Secret. [Of course, it was never actually on (m)u so it's not the same]~

Her only competition is the deceased ZARD who is releasing a 2A side with Detective Conan songs that day. :\

If you look at this without panicking [which is what I did when I found out about the new single]~

You can see that:
a) she just recorded Life a few days ago [and probably needs to work out some kinks]
b) this is releasing in a month and four or five days. That is not enough time to get a PV done + edited + planned + etc.

I guess Life will be the song of this single to get onto the next album and also get a PV at that time..

who knows what happens on the next album, but she might not have a PV for it at all, since she usually only uses PVs from the singles and some Album Tracks. ofcourse it is her 10th anniversary she might pull a koda and make PVs for all her tracks. (finally)

omg! it's not a common for ayu to make only one PV! i have no idea why she decided to put Mirrocle World as the lead of the single, she should make it a B-side or something.

That's possible, but this seems similar to how Will had no PV, and that still never had one around the release of (m)u (or ever for that matter).

Either way, it's hard to predict how she'll use these songs in relations to her next album, since despite the fact that Ayu tends to follow patterns with releases and such, she isn't entirely predictable.

I'll probably buy the single though, since even though I don't know exactly where we will see these songs again, I don't particularly think she would include them on her next album. Mirrorcle World is basically an extended Mirror, which was already on GUILTY, Life I have no idea about, and I just don't see her putting a rerecording on her next album. If I have to choose one though, it will most certainly be the one with YOU, since that's one of my favorite Ayu songs of all-time. She already rerecorded Depend on you for A BEST, and I really couldn't have cared less about that.

eh a bit disappointing, Mirrorcle World better have a damn good PV then :P. I dont care for those older songs~ no excitement for Life to be honest. :(

She's been very unpredictable since the end of 2007. All these releases in the span of a month are KILLING ME OMG.

[She was kinda off in 2006/2007 due to the lack of spring singles and A BEST 2..]

She'll probably sing it at the concert [and perhaps, have a remade version of ASFXX for sale as a tour good. LOL That'd be so hot.]~

This release tbh, isn't disappointing at all. She probably hasn't had as much time as she'd have liked to do stuff for her 10th anniversary single~ she looks like she's been busy since GUILTY released... or even when TW... came out back in November..

Timeline of Ayu working:
November - December: Pimping of Together When... on TV and GUILTY promo + CDL
January: Announcement of loss of hearing + off to Venice for CM shooting + rehearsals for AT08
February: PV shooting + rehearsals for AT08
March: ??? Single promotion?

I really hope that the covers are FREAKIN' GLAMOROUS.

She should had rerecorded "poker face" and "For My Dear...", because those didn't have a rerecording so far.
Also "Mirrorcle World" as the A-side?

As of now, I think they're planning to use the BLUE BIRD marketing strategy from 2006 and the 10th anniversary to try and gain momentum with this release.

tbh, I think that she probably chose the bigger fan favorites of her debut singles to resing. Sure, people liked poker face and FMD... but it seems like YOU and Depend on you are more... well known in a way?

She never rerecorded YOU though. But I do agree that she shouldn't have rerecorded Depend on you since she has already. I would have liked to see a poker face rerelease, but I'm really happy that she's doing an anniversary release at all, so I can't say I'm even slightly disappointed.

She rerecorded YOU for A BALLADS with the Northern Breeze mix [along with Who... and ASFXX]~

It seems to me like YOU / Depend on you will get rearrangements as well as new vocals.

Her older songs haven't been touched too much in terms of arrangement aside from those three on A BALLADS..

It'll be exciting to see if tasuku or someone redoes the songs. I don't want HAL getting near them. They already did that. XD

She flew to Paris to shoot the Mirrorcle World PV a few weeks ago and just recorded the song "Life". I'm sure we'd rather have no PV than a rushed-one.. right? :innocent

Haha, I didn't even know that the Northern Breeze Mix was a rerecording since it was an entirely different mix (and one I'm not particularly a fan of either). I hope the arrangement isn't too different in this rerecording because I want it to be similar to the original YOU that I love so much, just with more of a modern Ayu twist.

That's exactly what I would like to hear in this rerecording. More orchestral elements and such would definitely add to the impact, so long as it isn't overdone. And yeah, with how much deeper her voice is, it will certainly be interesting to hear, since YOU is one of her highest songs.

Well they wanted to put in something "extra" to celebrate her anniversary so I'm guessing they chose those two because they're her favourites or they reflect how she feels right now.

She's putting time into rerecording stuff probably because she wants to resing them as "gifts" to the fans? :/ [FYI, YOU has been rerecorded once for a ballads compilation and Depend on you as well for A BEST... but she's in a different place with her voice now compared to in 2001/2003]

She probably was faced with a decision of narrowing down her 5[?] debut singles and choosing two to rerecord. Trust and For My Dear... tbh aren't as big of hits as we might think they are, and poker face would've been expected..

I have a feeling that it will break 100K on the first week, with 4 covers and actually 2 (slightly) different tracklists. Tho I dun like the idea of recut. Well we can say it's a new song, but we can also treat it as a recut single. I kinda wish she would be using a new song as the leading track.

As for the resung tracks, I agree that YOU and Depend on you may have a larger attraction, but poker face is ALWAYS the debut single, and I think this song is much more valuable for the 10th anniversary (I bet every audience will sing this song again in the concert to celebrate this moment).

I wonder if she would use vocal from northern breeze + the original arrangement (or slight altered one) for the 10th anniversary track. Honestly I like her vocal in nb, but I luv the original mix. :P

Just because she's remaking them, what makes you think I like them?? She can rerecord them all she likes, but I don't like any of her songs from that album. Period. Not because of her voice. I just don't like them. The only song I like is Powder Snow. Yeah. Well. Mirrorcle World is all well and good....a full version of a song we've "already heard". I love mirror, but this isn't really "new material". And Life doesn't even have a PV. Shows how important of a song it is. So we aren't getting any "New" Material really.

Then that's all? I'm really disappointed. I was expecting so much and everything we has is this. Just two songs, one already knew by us. And versions of old songs, which I dislike. How sweet. <3

If it will sound good so I don't mind (and if there will be a lot of other tracks) it's like kumi's INTRODUCTION and Black Cherry, and Get It On (digital single) and Introduction to the ~second session~.
