Shinjite, it wasn't ballady in my opinion. Not an upbeat pop song a la "independent" either... maybe something along the lines of real me (was it r&b? not quite... I don't know how to categorize the song's music genre). I'll have to listen to the lyrics again, all I remember is "ji to shite" (I think?) 'cause she repeats it a lot.

Looks like her best yet. It looks nothing like 'Fighter'. Get a life people.

hiro, it doesn't exactly sound like it, but the music style (that is background music, mixed with other music genres) kind of reminded me of it... what would you call it, arabic music (maybe I don't know what I'm talking about)? In any case, I don't like Holly Valance's kiss kiss song... but I like ourselves.

I just saw the Pv and it's one of my favourites....It's so cool the only part were it looks like Christinas fighter is the part where Ayu is wearing black and stands between two walls.And the song is really good too!

I loved the song! Pretty cool! And the PV is really good! I always get scared in the end! I didn't know Ayu could be so scary :eek :eek!!! I mean people with Ayu masks! They're creepier than any ayupans around! Ayu is super pretty but seems like her face only suits her hahahah i have a 46 MB version of the PV...want something better!:D

Like others, Christina's "Fighter" immediately came to mind when I saw some of those screenies. I'd rather not be reminded of that video either, as I find it a bit weird. Nonetheless, I look forward to seeing this one (and moreover, hearing the track itself).

Did you know..Holly Valance is in Australian pop singer from Neighbours (used to be in it)? But the PV for Holly Valance's Kiss Kiss was pretty bad! It caused alot of trouble cause of the nude suit she is wearing! :laugh

However, I cannot wait to see the PV for Ayu's.

I just saw the new PV and I really like it. It does have the feel of Christina A. "Fighter", but its not a total rip-off. Avex did put in some distinguishable factors like the car and "destruction" scenes which makes this PV more surreal.

Something disturbs me about this PV (not freaky gothic people)
Ayumi's music video's ALWAYS have some sort of meaning behind them...
It could be...
1. Ayu is tired of people "bashing" her. You know, lately this year there have been many articles and rumors critizing ayu. She seems to feel bad now...
2. Ayu feels she is going to end her career as a singer (it's happened before with monocrome) She probably plans to give one last album, but she'll come through in the end and realize that people like her still.
3.She doesn't like the "product" ayu. She wants people to see her as herself.

i like your concepts, ayuspeed. hey, maybe it could even be those three together, and more. maybe she's telling that it's not easy being a product. it kind of shows what the life of stardom is like. it shows some her album covers. i think those parts have to do with the controversy about her covers and how they're put in the spotlight.

I think explanation number 1 is the best! Number 2: uuh she ain't quitting... I hope! Number 3: she said the opposite stuff in interviews (like that Time interview)

I'm going to translate the lyrics of "ourselves" soon, but I can clearly say that this PV has nothing to do with the lyrics. You see? Ayumi has sometimes created such PVs almost irrespective of the lyrics. ("Dearest", "Real me", "RAINBOW", etc.) Then, what is this PV expressing? ---- My answer is very simple. In my opinion, it's expressing her anxiety and fear deep in her heart, or it might be the nightmare itself she actually had one night.

(Interviewer) Do you have a fearful dream?
(Ayumi) Yes, every night. They almost beat me. ("Hamasaki Republic")

Do you know she had quite often said, "I'm lack of self-confidence." "I'm lack of self-confidence." since her debut as a singer. (I'm sure it has much to do with her trauma in her infancy.) Now she has established her fame as NO.1 popular artist in Japan. But she still cannot help but imagine that the fame and the popularity may disappear one day suddenly and that everyone may start to criticize and attack her. This is my opinion and impression.
From the artistic point of view, I think this PV is created very well. Especially the last scene, which really scared me. She challenged to make a new type of PV, PV with horror taste, and made a success as usual.

That was a while ago. Please read the lyrics of 1Real Me 2We Wish and you will realize that ayu has finally "found herself" I put those things in order of most likely to least likely. I'm glad so many people agree with me!! Koko ni tsuzukuru daro!

Hey, I was one of the extras in the video as a masked man. We were called the anti-fans. I was the one in the rear window and in the rear seat with a tilted head at the end. there was actually 3 of us but one of us is totally blocked by Ayumi.

Anyway I've seen one version of the video and its a bit unclear and a few characters look like part of their head is cut off. Is that the video or is that the poor downloaded version I saw perhaps?

I was just an extra doing a little work outside of teaching english. I didn't really speak to Ms. Hamasaki but she was quite nice around the studio. The video was done with a minimum of fuss. The crew was very good. The job was done easier than US music videos from what I hear.

Being extra is just that: an extra. They needed some gaijins and I got picked from the agency I work with from time to time.

I've been on TV before in small roles but its hard to get copies because as an extra, you're at the bottom of the barrel. I just wanted to get a decent download of the video or a proper link so I can send it back home for my friends to get a kick out of. I don't just play one of the masked guys. I'd rather not say anymore because I don't know the industry well enough that if one of them put one and two together and figured out who I was and thought I was doing something wrong by posting I might not get a chance to do something like this in the future. Then again I could be blowing it out of proportions.

all that matters is you know who you are.

thanks gohan. Actually I think I might get a copy sometime next week but I don't know. One of the other guys was content with just waiting till it was on grokster or kazaa and downloading it from there. This is my first time in something rather big so I was interested in seeing it right away to see what footage was used.

I think there will be a "making of" video. During the shooting there was a guy walking around with a video camera recording the whole thing. In my mask I sang "Luck be a Lady tonight" to his camera. Maybe it will end up on it. How long does it take for one of her "making of" videos to come out?

not all pvs have an accompanying "making of" video. they probably took all those clips in the event they decide to come up with one of those "making of" videos - normally say up to 6 months after the pv is aired.

i think u featured rather prominently for an extra. u got the "best" part - the "creepy" ending shot
