Question about my "A BALLADS" CD

I bought my "A BALLADS" CD at an anime convention last year. The artwork of the actual CD looks like the cover of my CD case rather than the overseas or Japan version:

This is mine:

So, what's up with this? Am I just lucky to have such a CD cover? haha I'm just curious, really.

ALCP-XXXX..

That's an indicator that your copy is 100% bootleg... aka made by some third party. D;

http://www.manga-shop.eu/Ayumi-Hamas...1/language/en/

They sell them here. D;

xiaou-xijiang 13th March 2008 04:11 AM

ouch, th got to it first. But yeah, its somethin' fishy. Its a shame you can't talk to the vendor about it and get your money back. D:

zoomzoom 13th March 2008 04:59 AM

Looks like a bootleg too, it's almost screaming it.

Dont be sad. I got one too. Give it away as a gift to someone who knows nothing about Ayumi. They won't know, plus they will love her.

I agree. My first two DVDs were bootlegs D:
So from now on, I stare at the pictures of the real ones online, so when I go shopping I don't get caught anymore @_@;;

MemorialAddress 13th March 2008 10:50 PM

Yeah, I have a bootleg too :weep
It happened to me when I bought RAINBOW CD on Amazon a few years ago.
I didn't know it was bootleg until 2 years later LOL

ohsixthirty 13th March 2008 11:13 PM

i've purchased a couple of bootlegs over the years, mostly when i was a new fan and didn't know what to look out for. now i almost never purchase from anywhere other than yesasia and cdjapan.

although, on occasion i've bought a bootleg on purpose, lol.

Chibi_Venus 14th March 2008 03:41 AM

Aw, that's such a shame.

So... Hm.

Well, I'm not upset that I own a bootleg. (...should I be? :confused)

Personally, I'm just happy to have the songs in my possession, you know?

...Or does it not count because it's basically like someone giving me the MP3's of each song, burning them onto a CD, and then pasting pictures everywhere? You know?

FoObY 14th March 2008 10:16 AM

Depends on how much you paid for it. Anime Conventions tend to sell bootlegs for full price too *sigh*.

huh Amazon also sell bootleg ???

I wanted to buy some things from there but they don't allow me to which's so stupid .

DA1SUK1DAY01691 17th March 2008 12:28 PM

I never buy bootlegs of CDs and recent DVDs, but I would if the DVDs are older than MY STORY, because I usually have a hard time trying to find it. I couldn't find AT2005, but when I found the bootleg, i snatched it up cause it was all I could find locally.

Honestly, since I'm assuming you couldn't tell, it's not your fault. And you shouldn't be mad or disappointed. I agree with you; you have it in your possession, and you bought what you thought was the right thing. It's not like you vagrantly went to buy the bootleg.

I found the AT2005 before at Hakubundo and Shirokiya. Now they usually have the (miss) understood tour for sale.

Hakubundo is SUPER limited though, and Shirokiya ran out before I could go back. >.<

Yeah, they usually have the (m)u tour. They have Concert Tour 2001 (both ed.) too, but 40 dollars each is a little too much for now. :)

nomizo31 21st March 2008 08:12 AM

it is bootleg as said by other.

Here is a tip for notice bootleg:

Open the CD Case and look at the top left corner, and bottom right corner. Usualy there is an slight indented rectangle int he plastic that says "compact disc". On ayu's it will have the AVEX TRAX logo in there.

The OS version does NOT have this - but this is the way to tell if its JP Press original.

FoObY 21st March 2008 05:59 PM

Well BEFORE you buy a potential bootleg, one of the more obvious ways is to simply check the tracklist. Bootleg companies tend to include as many songs on the CD as possible in addition to the original songs included with the respective album.

Also, examine the artwork. I found that the artwork on bootlegs tend to be less crisp.

really? I buy all my CDs from Amazon and none of them is a bootleg...

xiaou-xijiang 21st March 2008 11:03 PM

^I think the best way to get bootlegs is through marketplace sellers. When Amazon doesn't have it and say: available from these sellers you aren't getting it from Amazon but from some one else.

Seiko Yua 22nd March 2008 09:52 AM

funny, my a ballads cd that i bought from an anime convention didn't have the artwork in the middle of it. it's just... a blank off-yellow cd with the tracks named around it. but everythink from divine ayu's site here http://ayumi.primenova.com/cdscans/c...e/aballads.jpg is correct. O_o would mine be a bootleg, too??

Yes, yours is probably a bootleg.

Remember, a real copy should have the copyrights and what not printed on them. Also, look for the Avex Trax logo. They are always printed on the CD.

Here is the real one.
