Your Most Favorite Japanese Album of Utada Hikaru
What is your most favorite Japanese album of hikki to date and why?
Mine is Deep River (and Distance a bit after it), because this album is very meaningful, it's really solid with awesome single and only album songs, I love all of the songs in there a lot, ad the cover is quite smashing (hikki's best cover) and I loved the whole concept and pop with etheral and r&b bits. As a whole this is a great album! So what is yours? |
ULTRA BLUE for me (: The album that made me go crazy over Hikki too, haha.
ULTRA BLUE easily. It is one of her most personal CDs, IMO (along with HEART STATION), and another strong point is the lyrics. She was so on-point with her lyric writing for this album. The melodies are some of my favorite as well. "This Is Love" is an awesome opener, and I also love the emotions in "BLUE". "Making Love" has some of her best melodies EVER, "One Night Magic" is fun, interesting, and actually has Hikki doing a DUET! :D "Wings" is gorgeous, and the singles are of course phenomenal, especially "Dareka No Negai Ga Kanau Koro."
HEART STATION and Distance are probably tied for second, because both of those albums feel like they have no fillers whatsoever. Every track is great. They're both very consistent and don't have any major weak points (yes, I even like Boku wa Kuma ;)). DEEP RIVER probably has her best singles, but the album tracks are a big snooze-fest for me. First Love is just not my style, either. So yeah :D |
Deep River! Even though it doesn't have Colors, I somehow really like this album. Ultra Blue comes second after that though.
DISSSSTANNNNNCEEEE!!!!
For me it goes:
Deep River followed closely by Distance Ultra Blue |
Deep River, without a question.
Thennnnnnnnnnnnnn~ Distance / First Love Ultra Blue / Heart Station |
i voted for deep river.
all track i like.. there is no one song i hate.. |
Deep River, definitely. Though Distance comes in at a close second, and Ultra Blue is probably third. But yeah, I always find myself listening to Deep River more that I do her other albums.
HEART STATION for me :D
i'm a reborn hikki fan because of HEART STATION! :D
DEEP RIVER OF COURSE!!!
HEART STATION for me ^^
Distance then? Omg, I'm not a fan of her.
I chose Distance because it had not only good singles, but great album tracks as well. My second favorite would probably have to be ULTRA BLUE, then Deep River. First Love and HEART STATION are both pretty bleh to me.
HEART STATION totally changed the way I viewed Utada, and I mean that in the best way possible. Distance comes in second, since it was the first Utada album I ever listened to, tied with DEEP RIVER, which had strong tracks overall. I never really got into FIRST LOVE, but maybe that'll change with another listen.
First Love!! of course
1. HEART STATION
- My first real thorough experience with an Utada Album from the beginning to the end. - Not one bad song. Not one is a filler. - Some of her best Singles. 2. Ultra Blue - "Blue" me away and has some of her best Singles. - Some songs either never got 100% with me or took a while/really long time to really snag/hook me. 3. Deep River - First Utada Album - Upon first listen, I had never heard 1 Song/Single from the Album so the entire Album Experience was Brand New. (Obviously I voted for HEART STATION) (As shown by my list, Utada just keeps getting better and better with every Album Release) |
HEART STATION, as i love almost all the songs in it..while for the other albums i guess it take more time for the them to grow on me.
I'm glad HEART STATION is leading the poll. :) I thought the general response toward the album was negative, but I guess not.
Most definitely ULTRA BLUE. Along with DEEP RIVER and HEART STATION very close behind. Distance is after that, followed by First Love.
ULTRA BLUE was a mint of fresh air for me. It was a huge step for Hikki, and quite a risky one in my opinion. |
DEEP RIVER definitely. :D
DEEP RIVER was my favorite. I'm not a great big Utada fan, but I would even hold this album in the same regards as I hold any of my favorite Ayu albums. :innocent
HEART STATION had good singles, but the album tracks bored me. They were repetitive and just really "blah" to me. ESPECIALLY nijiiro basu. :no I only like four songs from ULTRA BLUE and even less from her other albums, so... definitely DEEP RIVER. :yes I don't think any of her other albums even compare to it. |
heart station
ULTRA BLUE, the songs I like from her are on there ^-^ I don't like many songs by her so..
DEEP RIVER
One of my favorite studio albums of all time by any world artist. There is not one song on the album that I dislike. It also has sentimental value for me as well. |
Distance. The first ever J-Pop I could listen in full non-stop when I got it :D
Second would probably be First Love, then everything else is third :) |
Distance will always be my #1 favorite. <3
HEART STATION
ULTRA BLUE
Distance
DEEP RIVER
HEART STATION
Easy choice for me. Mine has to be ULTRA BLUE.
I love love this album. And the covers are gorgeous. |
It was a tie, but ULTRA BLUE was the first I bought from her... so yeah, had to go with it. xD
DEEP RIVER. duh
ULTRA BLUE. :)
I love DEEP RIVER to death!
ULTRA BLUE
HEART STATION followed veeeery close by Deep River
ULTRA BLUE will forever be my favorite album of hers.
The complete synthesis between pop, R&B, and the electro ethereal sound...hybrided and the perfect balance. |
aww, poor First Love lol.
I voted for Deep River. There's not a song on Deep River that I dislike. :love |
DEEP RIVER! *drool*
I even loved the commercial haha xD |
Deep River, with Heart Station a close 2nd,
Ultra blue
Deep River
That album is euphoria. |
