April '08 Issue Of Teenage magazine review on GUILTY

Teenage's a monthly Singapore magazine & in the latest issue , they have finally reviewed on GUILTY .

By Bang Wei-Tin

"The reigning queen of JPop is back with a definitive album that's 1 straight up crowd pleaser . Even though the album has been overshadowed by news of her hearing impairment in 1 ear , it's still an amazing piece of work that showcases ayumi's natural born instinct for catchy dance music . Check out radio friendly tracks like GUILTY , Marionette & talkin' 2 myself for a taste of ayumi's irresistible music . "

3.5/5

polka-dot-jewel 22nd March 2008 03:41 AM

Huh...I wonder why they gave it a 3.5/5 if they said "it is a great piece of work". XD

Oh, well. Thanks for the article! =D

sibby 22nd March 2008 03:42 AM

^ HAHA agreed! is the article big? (doesnt look so though)

Bashumaru 22nd March 2008 03:43 AM

Lol, yeah, they said its a great album but it only got 3.5/5 stars XD. Is that the full article or is there more?

exactly XD

thanks for sharing the article

ayuzlove 22nd March 2008 03:49 AM

well...thought the album will get at least 4 stars out of 5...lol...anyway thanks for the news...does I-weekly magazine gave any reviews for GUILTY? been checking the album review section for a couple of issues but couldn't find any review on it

KarenPang 22nd March 2008 04:00 AM

yes everyone it's the full review of the album . It's just a tiny snippet among the many other albums that Teenage reviewed .

If you want to , go check & pick up a copy of Teenage . S.H.E's Hebe's on the cover .

I also puzzled as to why they only give 3.5 outta 5 . Should be higher lah !

Maybe you can try to call them & check ?

no it's not Sibyl . Usually for album reviews on such magazines , it's always the case , content wise .

The same thing goes for TODAY newspaper too .

Eddie Z 22nd March 2008 04:04 AM

Sounds to me like the mag is just whipping thru their reviews too fast. maybe they only have a certain amount of "slots" to award for each star (LOL)

naxxo.licious™ 22nd March 2008 04:34 AM

Meh, what a crappy review. 4 months later and they could only write 5 miserable lines??

Plus as some said before it's so contradictory.

Anyway, thanks for the info

sibby 22nd March 2008 04:38 AM

^ HAHA! that's so true..

(goes to show how people in singapore dont bother much about j-pop anymore T^T ) >__>

Tarot Warrior 22nd March 2008 04:45 AM

Maybe they just made an error when making the rating?

I remember when I was doing my Co-Op placement with a graphic firm. Places like newspapers and magazines have very tight deadlines to get everything done, and in a CD Review page where you only get a little space to talk about each CD, mistakes do happen, especially if the page designer happens to be trigger happy with copy/pasting seeing as it's such a good time saver...

But then again everything gets proof-readlet 3 times, so it's possible they just thought it was 'nice' rather than 'awesome'.

Still contradictory to what they're saying in the actual review though...

prussian blue 22nd March 2008 05:45 AM

its very common to have a short article about ayu in singapore/malaysia~

i got the longer one~

:D:D:D

blocker209 22nd March 2008 06:11 AM

My opinion of the article went down the second I read GUILTY was one of the more "friendly" tracks.

There are more accessible tracks on GUILTY...

reixminako 22nd March 2008 06:30 AM

"catchy dance music"?

...I don't think there were any dance tracks on GUILTY, though...unless you count glitter, and even that...

Jwiz 22nd March 2008 06:37 AM

^ yea..maybe (d)lma?

''natural born instinct for catchy dance music''?..hmm..

Anyway GUILTY should get a 4 out of 5!

mtr_ayu 22nd March 2008 06:59 AM

senseless review

yoshino 22nd March 2008 09:53 AM

yeah.. it should be at least a 4 out of 5. 3.5 seems like it is 'better than ok'. hahaz

Anw thanks for sharing. =)

If it's big.. i'll sure buy... Too bad.

I wonder if they will ever feature Ayu again like they did to her A Ballads, MY STORY...

sibby 22nd March 2008 10:29 AM

^ that was what i was thinking :( oh well

:innocent

BoBo 22nd March 2008 10:46 AM

10x for sharing :)

jon_the_d 22nd March 2008 10:59 AM

TITANIC 22nd March 2008 12:57 PM

What? Everyone does not worship every Ayumi release. People have different opinions and different views on different pieces of music. They can rate the album as they wish, because that is their opinion and you just have to accept it, not dismiss it as "crap". :/

I've been seeing less & less album reviews on Japanese music as each month goes by .

I haven't seen reviews on Koda's Kingdom , Yuna Ito's WISH up to now man :S

ayu_fantasy 22nd March 2008 03:02 PM

Well, they almost never give any artise more than a 4/5 stars, so 3.5/5 is pretty good!

ayuzlove 22nd March 2008 04:12 PM

I-Weekly magazine got album reviews for some JPOP artists...but i dun remember seeing any reviews for GUILTY ever since the album was released...kinda weird

Yoake 22nd March 2008 04:37 PM

3.5/5!!!!! only !
It's a beautiful album!!!
thanks for sharing

Surreal 22nd March 2008 06:50 PM

er... did you read the review? it's pathetic. and as many peopel have said, he's made moronic statements (catchy dance music), and contradicted himself.

speaking of which, you contradict yourself. lol. if he's entitled to his opinion, which of course he is, then I am of course entitled to mine. and my opinion is that it's a **** review.

thanks for supporting my right to free speech.

It seems to me that local magazines tend to emphasize more on reviewing Eng/Chinese albums , rather than Japanese/Korean material .

There should be a balance for everything if you ask me .

alternarist 23rd March 2008 02:21 PM

lol the only thing that really describes the album is "3.5/5".
