Are You Sick of the BEST Releasing Now?
Okay, many people know that Exile (the kings of best releasing) are releasing three more best albums in their 6-year music career. I made me realize how often BEST albums are being released now. Last year and the year before, the Oricon chart were filled with BEST albums taking most of the top 10 spots. Quite frankly, I tired of the freakin' BEST that being released from artists who have and haven't been in the J-music industry for long. I mean, IMO, record companies have lost the meaning of BEST and just using BEST albums to get an artist to be known or w/e, seems to be a cheap way and cheating way for the record company to get money and to ge the artist known.
Okay, I'll stop yapping! lol I just wanna know are you sick of the BESt releasing from artists now? |
I'm surprised you didn't use the example of Koda Kumi as well!
Yeah they're pretty annoying but I don't really care. I mean, I'm not going to commit suicide over another BEST being released, but it's really fun to talk about and discuss. |
Yes, I am! Ugh, KUU totally made me dislike the whole BEST thing!
:laugh |
I'm sick of the bests, except for Best~Second Session~ because that's kinda more like an album.
|
Yeah I guess they can be annoying, but they can also be a little useful.I just started listen to EXILE , and by just lust listening to their BEST album, I was able to get a feel of what their music(old and new) was like faster .instead of looking through all the singles and albums, which gets a little tirings and makes my head hurt after staring at the computer screen for too long lol ^^
|
Well, avex always milk the most famous singer/band. So it's not surprising to see that. Although I think EXILE is quite annoying at this moment.
I guess I will say A BEST 2 is exception. Cuz ayu hasn't released best album for 6 years. EXILE released that perfect best/single best/select best combo in only 3 years ago. I dun see they are eligible to release another BEST combo, but they're currently the cows in avex, so.. LOL. |

I was gonna put Kuu and Ayu up there but I decided not to pick on them this time. EXILE was the perfect choice because 3 BEST in one year.....Japan should be thankful for boybands Fangirls are what is keeping the economy in Japan from going into recession. So there's a good thing about a BEST release. XD |
I am fine we compilation albums only when they aren't being released too often, there should be some years at least between which, and releasing 3 together twice in 6 or less years or a compilatiom a year after year after year is a really get sick of it situation. 2 in a day is the maximum I could take after some good years that artist had no compilations at all and has to divide the songs for two full albums.

It's good for an avex popular artist lol. kumi should belong though because she had BESTs 3 years in a row in just 7 years... and BEST B&L wasn't so interesting. |
I actually really like BEST albums so I'm cool with them as long as there's content enough to warrant them. with the right song selection a best album can be a highlight of the artists discography :yes
I like best albums with lot of content, maybe a cd with the singles and other with b-sides and collaborations. good BEST albums: "We R&B ~10 years best~" by Double "LISABEST - mission on earth 9037-" by LISA "Self Portrait" by hitomi bad BEST albums: EXILE's and Kuu's. they're over doing it. Kuu's BESTs aren't that bad, but it was just too much too soon. |
I don't really care about compilations if they're from an artist or a group that I've never really listened to before; it saves me the trouble of listening to all their previous albums and pick out the best ones.
But the three EXILE compilations is a little too much I agree. |
I agree with all 3 points, therefore no vote.
When you release a new BEST OF album every year a la Koda, it loses meaning. However, there are artists like DOUBLE or hitomi who release worthehile BEST albums, therefore BESTs are a good idea. But, as long as the BEST has good material, it doesn't matter how many get released. Kuu's BEST albums may be extreme, but they are worth it, IMO. :yes |
"Yes, I am! Ugh, Koda Kumi totally made me dislike the whole BEST thing!"
|
first option :D
too many best album.i hope kuu wont do like that by realesing best album every year |
I think Koda Kumi had legitimate reasons for her Best albums.. At least the first one!
Koda was on the scene for a long time with no attention, so her first Best album made people recognize all the music she had made over the years. Her second and third bests were a bit unnecessary though :-\ |
Personally I don't care.
But if this poll was about Koda Kumi then I would vote for the 1st option :laugh |

personally i don't care because i won't buy them anyway :innocent ayu is an exception ;) but really, exile's 100000000th or rather 4th best album is rather irritating xD
|
BEST albums are ok to me i guess lol. Lol coincidentally EXILE was playing when i was typing this up lol...
|
Compilation albums should be made sparingly, in my opinion, or else there's no point in purchasing studio albums. Ayumi, in a ten-year span, has released two compilation albums (or three, if you split up A BEST 2). Utada only has one so far, though she doesn't release as frequently as Ayumi does. Koda Kumi's second and third compilation albums were completely unnecessary, as were EXILE's BEST albums this year.
|
Um, why do people get so hung up on this? If you don't think the compilation is worth it don't buy it.
|
Who Cares? If you don't like them, don't by them.
BEST are a good thing, collection of good material with new photos and bonuses. |
Depends on the material in the BEST.
But most of the time I get a good deal. Like I like Kuu's Best ~first thing~, Ayu's A best and A Best 2, Ai am best, The sixth day, and etc. Although I don't particularly care for it because I'm not going to buy it, it kind of bugs me when companies pass off albums as bests to sell. |

Anyway for me, I'm just getting use to this whole idea of having "BEST" Albums. Still kind of strange to me and I really don't get it/like it nor do I understand why the fans seem to be eating up this recycled material like they've never heard it before. I mean for me, when Hilary Duff came out with her new CD a couple/few years ago, I won't call it an Album, and I discovered that it had like only 3 new songs with a bunch of old songs, that was enough to send me over the edge, so to see Japan going crazy at it like this is just like WHOA. I'm not use to it, but I was over it before I became aware of it. Not for me. Thus why I don't purchase them for those who still may be wondering. (But I still have an opinion on them. Whodathunkit?) :D |
I put yes because of Kuu ~ Releasing a BEst albums with actual single songs that were on an album is one thing, but just releasing songs straight to a BEST album is kinda of demeaning to the term BEST
|
I don't really care! As long as the artist is still able to provide good quality music!
|
I don't really care about it.

I voted yes, but I have some conditions and terms... I only dislike it if it's for an artist that hasn't been around for very long. A person with a 3 or 4 year career does NOT have much to say for themselves, okay? They don't need a 'best' of - they need a singles compilation and release it as such. I know Ayu had her first BEST album released early in her career but it's well known that not only was it against her wishes but she hated the idea of it. She herself thought it came too early in her career, too. BEST albums are supposed to be collections of just that - the BEST an artist offers. The fact that EXILE, who are releasing three MORE BEST albums and in their 6 year long career really leaves a sour taste in my mouth, as i feel it misses the entire freakin' point. stop rehashing material and MAKE SOME MORE. however, it's also okay if the BEST album is retakes, recuts or "take 2s" of older songs - or even if the BEST album is just a combination of songs from one particular genre (ballads, pop, dance, etc.). i just find it laughable that artists who haven't even proved their worth have released several BEST albums to date. |

I don't mind best-of as long as it's the right time and as long as there's some extra bonus stuff with it. But EXILE isn't the one that made me sick of seeing best-of everywhere. It's Koda's fault! XD
|
In my opinion you have to have recorded 5 albums minimum before releasing a collection. I didn't like it when Kuu released hers, I didn't like it when Ayu released hers either. Personally I think Avex made them do it though.. hehe.

And the Japanese music system works a lot different than the west's. It seems that every three albums or so an artist gets a best, whereas in the west you might not see one for 10 years. The Japanese like bests because artists tend to release a lot of singles, so when a collection comes along casual listeners recognize those songs and are more prone to buy them. It's really a good marketing scheme. It's also why they dominate the charts every year. I don't even care. I don't mind buying bests of artists I really like because sometimes it's fun just to listen to a different combination of songs on a CD. |
I'm buying compilations of artists I really like (ayu, kumi, BoA etc.).
Though I don't buy BESTs with no new material at all even of my most favorites if it's like hikki's compilation which even didn't feature any photo of her. Other artists I like I prefer getting only the studio albums. |
I'm tired of best albums that are released constantly for no good reason other than to make money. See: Koda Kumi and EXILE.
But, I'm not tired of them in general. Like some other people have said, they're good for casual listeners, and a lot of time they're the best way to get a lot of an artist's PVs on DVD all at once. This is pretty much why I bought Tackey & Tsubasa's best album. I don't really care about their studio albums because I only listen to their singles. |
I don't really care. Why? Because there's usually new songs on BEST albums. At least Kuu and Ayu has. And it's totally awesome. And of course, I like listening to these BEST albums, because they are like a summary of some "chapter" on artist's career before the new part. :>
Oh and I'm sad that Kuu didn't release that BEST~WORKS & REMIXES~ album. I have always wanted to hear some of those songs which were supposed to be on the album. ;_; |
All these BEST albums are headache-inducing indeed....sometimes I wonder if they release them merely because they can't pull together enough new material? :shrug I think a BEST album is more justified if the artist has been around for awhile.
|
I won't care...anythings fine
|
I don't really mind. This year is an anniversary year for many, so it's expected. But yeah, I'm not bothered by these best albums.
|
after Namie realese best album i think i dont hate BEST ALBUM anymore :D
