I really want to hear her album. I've only heard "REAL YOU", and it wasn't that bad.

I've only heard parts of her song when she was on Arashi no Shukudaikun teaching them yoga. But I think I want to give her a listen, she's gorgeous and a good dancer I hear.

^ she also acts in dramas. she was with oguri shun in binbo danshi from january - march, so filming was probbably taking that time away from the album. i dunno, lol.

I think she's a lot better singer than you'd expect, her being a popular model before & really "idol"-ish. not to mention she is definitely one of THE most gorgeous j-pop stars ever ... I think all of her singles have been good except for "Fly So High" which was just really bland. "EYES ON ME" is the best, but I like her latest one a lot too. |

I'm liking the album tracklist, it's nice to see U-KEY & HIRO producing a few album tracks too since I think those producers are behind her best singles.
"little raindrop" is her best b-side, luckily more b-sides weren't included tho. The clip of her on Hey!Hey!Hey! is nice, her fellow japanese supermodel Moe Oshikiri looked hot too :yes |
I really like the tracklisting. Even if there are only 4 new songs-_- I have a feeling that the album is gonna turn out pretty urban since both U-KEY and HIRO are more urban music producers. I'm excited! I might end up getting the CD-only version since I'm not really feeling the CD+DVD one. Like Halla, I'm really glad little raindrop made the album because that's my favorite b-side from her^^

it's good to see Fly So High is not included in it's original form, it's such a crappy song. it's really bland & generic poppy track and really it would not have fit on the album at all.
it's a shame that so many singles have been released leaving the album a little lacking on the new material, but atleast the singles have b-sides so they have some worth. I wonder if they'll make a PV for one of the album tracks too? I guess we'll see when the DVD tracklist is out. I'm thinking that the album will do ok, it's not going to be a super but I think all of her singles have charted within like the top 40? and REAL YOU was a minor hit. I read an article about Yu awhile ago, I think it was on the english Japan Times or something. It said that Yu is one of the most popular Idols at the moment, and they estimated that she gets 50 million Yen for one ad campaign, that's little under half a million US$ or 300 000 - 400 000 €. it may not translate into huge sales, but she does a lot of talkshows and variety tv. so the album has much publicity but we'll see how it'll do. |
yea, i've read that yamada yu's doing promotion this week for the single, so hopefully sales will be decent.

I just downloaded Yu's discography. I remember seeing her perform REAL YOU on Music Station (or some other music show), but I couldn't find a mp3 of the song at that time. But now I've found it and her other songs now. :D :D

Yu is certainly famous & very popular, but mostly for being a model & an actress rather than for her music. She is not quite as huge celeb as her fellow model Yuri Ebihara but Yu's only 21yo and she can sing & act whereas Yuri is soon 30 and she cant do anything else. there was an article about this sometime ago on mainichi waiwai :P
"Leave all behind" is my favorite song by Yu, it's such a great mellow RnB number. I do like Heartbeat too, Yu's singles always have good content :yes I can't wait for her album :D |

"strong girl" and "Holla!" are great upbeat club RnB tracks, "Block sign" is a fun 80s inspired pop number & "cosmic ride" is catchy electro piece. the remix improves "fly so high". |
