My opinion - the starting is soothing and the chorus is good - can pick up easily.
The ending.. well not that appealing compared to the intro and chorus.

I really hope masa can translate the song//
The song does make me feel a little sad...

hmmm...indeed it sounds refreshing as compared to her past songs...kind of short compared to her usual songs...and the ending part a bit weird...she is using "YEA YEA" in the song again...lol

Very easy on the ear but I think her vocals are too overpowered by the instruments in the verses. Other than I love it :)

I also thought about "MY STORY". "Life" has a similar feel to "winding road" and "untitled ~for her~" (some parts of the arrangement remind me of the later). It sounds very much like spring. <3 I sure need some more listens to fully judge it, but I really like the bridge so far. It's been some time since she released such a calm song on a single.

Im think Life really sounds like winding road and i like both of them. It has a ''gentle mood'' to it i would get it a 7.8 out of ten.

It reminds me (now) of some older songs, like For my dear... style, or a lighter Heartplace, or a waaaay superior version of Replace :P

very refreshing... gets me soooooooooooooooooooo nostalgic. its that old-school ayu sound. it makes me flashback at my life, the people i've come across, those who never came back, those who left us behind... it's that kind of song... i could only listen to it every now and then. it gets rather boring... and makes me lose interest in doing anything but just lay down and think of life :P

I really have to agree with you about the song. It also makes me think of those who I've left behind. I know I'm going to sound like a loser for saying this but the song made me cry.

I absolutely loved the song. It's relaxing, sad and happy at the same time (just like what ayu said the song would be like ^^). And yes it seriously gave me a nostalgic feeling. (This song isn't good to listen to when your also viewing the 90's flashback thread :no)

It's really good! If she's going to do rock songs, that the way she should always do them. It's wonderful and beautiful, yet it also has a rock feel.

YES, a kind of song I've been waiting for.. for many years: an acoustic, easy-going, soft rock song! (or maybe my choice of music has changed over the years...)
Personally, I feel that during her past several years of making music, she needed this kind song. Overall, this song has much more element than most songs off of GUILTY, Secret, (miss)understood.

It's nice, refreshing. It feels like a throw back to old Ayu songs, which is awesome and something I'd expect from a song in her 10th anniversary year. It's the completely antithesis of Mirrorcle World, which I think makes the single have a nice balance. I honestly didn't think she could pull off a song like this with her vocals changed as they have, but Ayu continues to surprise. I like Life a lot~

After hearing the preview I didn't expect much, BUT I LOVE IT :D And it doesn't sound like winding road at all, as those 2 have nothing in common ^^

I really like it...its so clam and relaxing which she haven't had like since my story. I like how life comes after mirrorcle world and then you get depend on you or you after that. Its a great combo. =D I hope her next studio album will be like pre (miss) understood.

Ayu NEEDED Yuta Nakano. All his sounds are so retro-Ayu and AMAZING, it's like wow.

I can't stress how much I enjoy this track. It's got that inspirational aura that Born To Be... had without being too "hard"~ :D

I think it was a horrible choice for a single song. It sounds just like the last song she'll sing at a tour or on an album. It has no business being a single.

I only like the intro part, very mature sang...this song...as I said...is like 'YOU' but mature version...she should push the tunes a bit faster like 'It was' (yes it sounds a bit like 'It was')...the chorus is a bit boring

And I still stand by that after hearing the full version.
It kind of sounds like a mix of 'winding road' and 'Hope or Pain' (which is not a bad thing).
But anyways, I really liked it after I heard it a second time. It's refreshing and kind of like a blast from the past. Don't get me wrong; I've loved all of Ayu's recent works, it's just this is something we haven't heard in awhile. :)

^ I also love ayu's recent works, esp Mirrorcle World, But this time 'Life' should've been better..I never really comment on ayu's new work...this time I do...coz I don't really like (don't) leave me alone...the chorus part needs a verse before it, i mean..she sings the verse..not only a tune LOL

It reminds me of seasons at some parts, but winding roads at others. Yup, it would have fitted in pretty well with the MYSTORY album. It's nice to have something that's more acoustic.

ahah not really. I loved her PV for Mirrorcle World, I love (don't) Leave me alone, both the song and PV, the songs Mirrorcle World and Life, and the PVs for Together When... and Marionette. I'm not a big fan of her GUILTY album because I feel ayu's music has become too repetitive and conservative, not to mention the album has too many interludes and fillers (MY ALL, the untitled song) but I don't dislike it, and I'm not also a big fan of her Mirrorcle World cover, but hey, that's a minimal detail, since I almost never care much for the covers anyway :laugh

Not that much of a pleasure surfing around AHS then, with the huge amount of Mirrorcle World signatures :P

yea...pretty sad there's no pv for it...i was thinking if a pv is made, which is abt her life starting from how she became a singer all the way till her current self...coupled with the beautiful scenery in Paris...it may look great i think :P

Nah, I don't mind it that much...I just think ayu isn't looking very good in it (her hair and semi open lips strike me in a weird way), but otherwise, it looks fine. (And no, I don't mind her "nudity" there, I actually like it that way :P)

When it began playing, I instantly thought 'Heart Place!' :laugh
But it's much calmer, and the chorus is what got me to love it :D I think her vocals are pretty in it, I just really hate the 'YEAH YEAH's' parts at the end though =/ They're irritating for some odd reason. But all in all, I give the song a 4 1/2 out of 5.

I'm actually glad that there isn't a PV for it. I dunno, although I try to tell myself not to let the PV affects the way I hear the song, I just recently realized that it, does in fact, affects me greatly on how I view the song.

I mean, granted, she could have produced a master PV for this song, but I didn't want something to ruin it. :P

Life is a hybrid of HOPE or PAIN and Heartplace. That's what brings it from mediocre to awesome. It's still missing something, but it's a song of pure reminiscence if you're an Ayu fan.

It's a pretty good song. It's definitely better than Mirrorcle World. However, it doesn't WOW me.

It's quite refreshing as everyone mentioned. It does have similarities to MY STORY and I adore that album. It's funny now that I think of everything, I hated (miss)understood at first because there was so few new songs but now looking back on (miss)understood, Secret, and GUILTY as whole albums, (miss)understood is the best. But MY STORY tops them all.

I think this song is the perfect bridge linking up Mirrorcle World and YOU/Depend on you in the Mirrorcle World single. It's like, you listen to a song that describes Ayu now, and then you jump back with nostalgic feelings with Life, and then you go 10 years back!

Life, IMO, owns Mirrorcle World. MW was way too disorganized for me though it's good.

Life... is just very new in a way. I love it.

I thought Life was indeed a good song, a lot better then I expected. It's nothing really special, but it makes me smile whenever I listen to it.

Today is actually the first time I listened to Life.

It has a nostalgic feeling... but also the feeling of renewal. If I was to compare the feeling into her albums, I'd say the closest one would be Secret. As many have mentioned here, it makes me too to think about my past life, and the future too. It's kind of a checkpoint. Fits the lyrics...

It's very nice, calm, easy to listen. Luckily it doesn't sound as sad as I thought it'd be. I don't like sad songs because they're... well, sad.

I really like it. Maybe it'll even end up as one of my favs...
