latest album - 5296

latest single - Aoku Yasashiku which was released last year on 7th Nov .

I only sit & take notice of this band after they collborate with ayaka on WINDING ROAD & also with Tsubomi .

They have some great songs & their music's very uplifting & soaring .

I recommend Kimi to Iu Na no Tsubasa , Sakura , their breakthough hit Koko ni Shika Sakanai Hana & of course Tsubomi .

Tsubomi's amazing , deserves to be their 1st no.1 single & also it didn't win the Grand Prix award at the 49th Japan Record Awards for nothing

a tall guy and a short guy band

greggerz189 1st May 2008 04:47 AM

LOL Yeah. Their voices are incredible, especially the tall guy, Kuroda. My KOBU-favorites are too many to list. Definitely anata e to tsuzuku michi, Takarajima, blue blue, miss you, Yuki ga Furanai Machi, Aoku Yasashiku, Kazamidori, Tsubomi, Million Films, Towa ni Tomo ni, Kimi to iu na no tsubasa, Koko ni shika sakanai hana...

:roflmao

http://wiki.theppn.org/images/thumb/..._late_2007.jpg

the tall guy on the left's Kuroda Shunsuke (黒田俊介) - Vocal

while the short guy on the right's Kobuchi Kentaro (小渕健太郎) - Vocal, guitar, blues harp, sanshin, finger whistle

Kuroda's damn tall man . He stands at 1.93m :O

greggerz189 1st May 2008 04:49 AM

I'm really taken by Kuroda's voice, but I like Kobuchi's personality more haha

haha

you can definitely tell whose voice's who real easily !

Kuroda's voice is more deep & huskier than Kobuchi's

greggerz189 1st May 2008 04:52 AM

Yeah. Kuroda seems really daunting at first glance, though he's really personable on TV. I think Kobuchi is really funny, though XD

TITANIC 1st May 2008 03:46 PM

i never heard about their songs.maybe someone could recomment me some songs?

pommy48 1st May 2008 09:30 PM

oo thanks for the recommendations~my dad listens randomly to the taiwanese radios, so he knows things, kokukuro's name in chinese is so awesome! aren't they the band that beat GUILTY for #1? if they are, they must be good~

Luv ~Venus~ 1st May 2008 09:45 PM

Kubopower thread...YAY! :bchuck *has heard a song from them...well, except WINDING ROAD and didn't like it*

Thankies Karen for the recommendations. I will try the songs out. :yes

@pommy: Yea, they are the ones that beat GUILTY. They've been really popular for the past few years and selling amazingly well. Female artists going against them is like suicide especially for the ones who have precious records to hold on to.

pommy48 1st May 2008 10:45 PM

oh oh i see~so what kind of style are they? rock/r&b/etc.?

Luv ~Venus~ 1st May 2008 10:52 PM

Folk music and pop! :bgiggle

pommy48 1st May 2008 11:23 PM

shorter who has a guitar on his hand - Kobuchi

taller guy who's 1.93m :O - Kuroda

I've actually only heard the song they did with ayaka some time ago, but I can't even remember what that song sounds like anymore, or the name of it.

Aside from that, I have never heard any of their other songs, but I'm always willing to give artists/groups a try to see if I like their music.

Now what's going on? No new releases since then? It seems like that they've taken care of the 2009 year-end performances, but no new releases!!? Could we really continue discussing Kobukuro again?

But the only problem is this: They're too busy with their JAL partnership! But I've heard that JAL is headed towards bankruptcy, so if this really affects the JALxKobukuro collaboration partnership, we'll just have to see...

But it seems now that we've been getting bored having Kobukuro having new releases - and we did not even discuss further in August at the time when their album "CALLING" was released, and got #1 for two weeks until Arashi took over what it would be 2009's #1 album...

well guess they're not as popular/hot in AHS as compared to other artistes that I know/support ?

somemore getting news updates about them is hard & I only know when they will release new material & etc when CDJapan sent me email updates & all

Literally this thread is quite dead.

But this is quite SHOCKING - Kobukuro is going ON HIATUS:

Kobukuro to go on hiatus due to Kobuchi Kentaro’s health condition
Tokyohive - http://www.tokyohive.com/2011/08/kob...lth-condition/

On August 28th, popular duo Kobukuro announced that they will go on hiatus due to the poor health of member Kobuchi Kentaro (34), who was diagnosed with dystonia last year.

Dystonia is a condition where the muscles contract involuntarily, and so because of this, Kobuchi had difficulties singing as he could not control his vocals. Reportedly, Kobuchi will need at least half a year to treat the symptoms of this condition.

Concluding their final concert in Hokkaido, Kobukuro stated, “Although at first we were worried about taking this hiatus, but we would like to rest a bit, as given from our fans and God. Please wait patiently for a small amount of time,” and ended their final concert in Hokkaido.

That's quite sad. First Ayaka goes to hiatus all because of her Graves' disease, now her former mates Kobukuro goes to hiatus all because the guitarist (Kobuchi) has dystonia.

We wish Kentaro Kobuchi well from his illness, and hopefully they come back strong again next year. Especially when they still don't have #1 singles...

So, let's see: Ayaka, Utada Hikaru, Ai Otsuka, Maki Goto, Morning Musume's Ai Takahashi, and now...Kobukuro? Man, that's quite sad to hear...
