Goto Maki, formerly a member of H!P and UP-FRONT Agency. Maki had her big start in the industry when she joined Morning Musume at the age of 13. There she made a name for herself and with that popularity, she propelled herself into a solo career with singles such as 愛のバカやろう (Ai no Bakaryou) and うわさの SEXY GUY (Uwasa no SEXY GUY). As time went on, she began to stray away from the cute image that the company mainly hones and began to take a more sexy route. エキゾな DISCO (Ekiza na Disco) from her album 3rd Station began to show that. However it was with her fourth album, How to use SEXY, that the new Maki really began to emerge. Her popularity experienced a surge with singles such as ガラスのパンプス (Glass no Pumps) and SOME BOYS! TOUCH, which gave her some of her best selling singles in a while.

After a fiasco involving her brother and for health reasons as well, Maki left UP FRONT only to leave fans wondering if they would see a return from her. Hope began to arise once Maki announced that she would stay in L.A. for a month to work on singing and dancing. Various rumors about her return have been circulating but it's official that she's resigned with avex under the Rhythm Zone label, making her labelmates with artists such as Tohoshinki and Koda Kumi (who actually went to audition for Morning Musume with Maki before going with avex). Now us fans are hoping for a new single announcement soon and for Maki to be bigger and badder than ever!

DAYBREAK and Nee Samushikute have grown on me soooo much - they're soooo pretty :)
LIFE is an awesome ballad and great way to finish the album off - WONDERFUL lyrics
Secret and Wow! Suteki are great too!! - Secret has brought me to tears before and Wow! Suteki is fun and poppy!

I consider Wow! Suteki and GIVE ME LOVE to be the twins of the album as well as DAYBREAK and Nee Samishikute

I love Maki in her How To Use Sexy phase, I hope she continues that style from now on. I wish great success for her with her new record deal. I wonder if she will become the next AVEX diva.

I think that she will because one of the biggest reasons she wanted to leave avex was that she wanted to pursue a "serious" career away from all the cute stuff. She wanted to have a better control over her career and freedom to use sexy so she left so I'm thinking we'll see more sexy in the near future. The new pics speak for themselves :yes

OMFG, that would be awesome if she came to a-nation 08 but she wouldn't have any songs to sing...I don't think UP FRONT would allow her to sing any of her old songs for copyright or some legal junk....

I was so upset when Maki left her previous label cuz I really really love How to use Sexy. Now that she's back and with avex of all labels I couldn't be any happier!! I hope they have her do some more hot songs like "SOME BOYS! TOUCH" and "How to use Loneliness."

I recently downloaded How to use Sexy, it was a pretty good album, I'll be keeping my eye on her.

I love nail-art so I hope we'll be seeing more in the future...am I'm sure we will.

i'm pretty sure tsunku has enough money and he's still credited for discovering Maki--if it wasn't for him, she wouldn't be where she is today PLUS kuu looked horrid on those auditions, he had good reason not to pick her (not to be cruel..but really, honestly, who could say she was momusu material?) so it's not like he can look back and say "wow, i wish i picked her" haha--and also, he was famous/rich before H!P and he's made plenty of money with them...

but anyway--i'm estimating (hoping for) a late summer release/early fall. either way, i'm hoping i'll be in japan at the time. i hope it's not like a "surprise! next wednesday maki goto is releasing a new single!" hahah

I'm excited about the prospects of Maki working with the Avex production individuals I'm fans of.

It's highly unlikely that she will perform songs from her H!P discography. In addition to Avex having to license those songs out, I'm sure they want to move away from her idol image. It's sad that her classic tunes will probably be retired, only to see brief appearances at H!P events once in a blue moon. Some of my favorites are:
