Do you think Ayu will retire next year?

So I have heard several times that female celebrities from Japan usually retire after they enter the 30's.However there has been several exeptions on this.Ayu is 29.Do you guys think that she will retire or have a harder time selling cds after her next birthday?

I think that counting with Ayu's fire like spirit she is as unlikely to retire as I am to win the lotery tomorow.Do you know why I can't win the lotery tomorow?Cause I am under 18 and haven't even bought a ticket.lol.:D

However I do think that maybe Avex won't be so helpful and 'friendly' to Ayu anymore after her 30 birthday. And maybe her Japanese fans won't be so 'lovely' either. Lets hope I'm wronge. What do you guys think?

truehappiness 27th June 2008 06:52 AM

The only reason she would retire in my eyes is if she loses the ability to speak or hear. :\

She'll probably keep on going until she's well and old @_@..

Ayumi Grandmasaki..

emi♡ 27th June 2008 06:57 AM

She won't retire. I don't think she's accomplished everything yet.

zoomzoom 27th June 2008 07:00 AM

Based on her CNN interview, "if I can't sing anymore, I die, I'm nothing" I think she'll continue for as long as she can.

ayuholic 27th June 2008 07:03 AM

Well, Cher is like 62, I think? Isn't Madonna almost 50? They're still in the music business. I have a feeling Ayu won't quit the music business for a while. I predict that she'll retire in the next eight years at the least. I could be wrong. :eyes

:yes

I guess as long as she's still able & up to challenges , I'm sure there's no reason for her to retire

slow down the pace of working maybe but retire ? not anytime soon

maikaru 27th June 2008 07:13 AM

as much as people in japan are becoming tired of her,
I think it's impossible to consider japan without her.
Somehow, there is an expectation that we can continue to expect her..
even she is 30, she has become maybe something like ... a permanent fixture.
Maybe monument? ahaha..
I can't consider that music world without her.. I feel like, even sometimes when I'm growing tired of listening to her,
I consider.. "When is her next song coming out? It's time!"
And I think her concerts are the best to go too..
Certainly most exciting or most emotional and heart touching.
Thats why I don't think Avex is ready to retire her..
maybe when she says "I'm gonna retire,"
Even the whole Japan will become really sad, because it's always expected that an uplifting song will soon arrive from Ayumi when times are tough.

truehappiness 27th June 2008 07:16 AM

She'll probably be like the "idols" of years gone by... [Seiko Matsuda, Akina Nakamori, Yumi Matsutoya.. etc.]. Same goes for Namie. Though... Koda seems like she'll be the female version of an old JE band.

I don't think she will retire so soon. She'll probably go on for as long as she can. I think she still has it in her, too. Her fans still love her and I think we can still expect a lot from her. She expects a lot from herself, too.

sibby 27th June 2008 08:11 AM

SHE WILL NEVER RETIREEEEEEEEEE

she must do cms at least right :D

HAHA (oops)

Deneb 27th June 2008 08:43 AM

ayumi-sama is only 30.... still able to dig gold :D i wouldn't retire if i am in her place :innocent

aqua_crystal 27th June 2008 09:20 AM

Next year? Woah. That's waaaay to early!!! She's only 30! Shje's got her whole Life ahead of her. I doubt she'll retire that early.

wenren93 27th June 2008 11:55 AM

i doubt so.
since ayu is single, and most probably she'll still be very busy after 10th anniversary ;)
can't wait for her next single/album!
if she retire next year.. my goodness, that's TOOOOOOOOOOO EARLY !

i don't think she will retire soon, her sales, still in the yearly top 10 chart, how can she retire?
even seiko matsuda still exist until now

she already become a legend...even people tired about her, but they still waiting for her new stuff...

she will continue but maybe she will slow down her release and concert...

Beffi 27th June 2008 12:07 PM

I really hope not, I mean, I doubt she will.

As zoomzoom said, in that CNN interview she said that if she couldn't sing anymore then she'd die. Singing means a lot to her, as do her fans (she'd still have fans even if she did retire though) so I don't think she'd quit singing so soon, she still has the ability to do it even though she's lost her hearing. It'd take a lot to make her stop singing.

I hope she's still singing in years to come.<3

Melrose 27th June 2008 12:14 PM

She still has >>>>FOURTY<<<< years minimum before she dies lol. And IMO she has 25~ish years before her voice starts getting crispy. IMO she'll keep making music, if not as a slower pace.

What does that JP quote mean? o.O

Aggar 27th June 2008 12:17 PM

NO, she will continue singing as long as she can. For the artist who loves to sing , it'd be huge difficult thing to stop singing , IMO.

majrakun 27th June 2008 12:17 PM

She's too rich to retire just yet. Who knows, maybe she's even planning to reach her silver jubilee (I think, the one for 25 years) Which means she would at most retire when she's 45. XD Take a break, probably, but she doesn't even want to do that right now.

Melrose 27th June 2008 12:19 PM

LOL @ your avatar. Wtf? XD

Oh wait I just read the caption. NVM.

yamogi 27th June 2008 12:21 PM

HAHA (oops)

I agree...

She could NOT live without the MUSIC, without her fans, without get back all this love from the people around the World... she NEEDS to sing forever, she loves her work, she loves to produce, to writte her own songs, to make concerts, to shoot videos... and we love her <3:luv2

Maybe next year could make the dreamed World Tour (America, Europe & Australia)... although really hopefully in April 2009 she can give any concert in Japan as I'll be staying all the month there (Tokyo) ^^

Mirai Noah 27th June 2008 01:21 PM

Nope, I don't think she'll retire, for the reasons everyone else stated. :P

Zeke. 27th June 2008 02:10 PM

Definately not. Ayu has said countless times before that she will keep marching on, no matter what obstacles may come her way - she will keep marching on... for us!

AyuHamasaki01 27th June 2008 02:12 PM

No, I don't think so.

Oh it says.. please continue to support us, Ayu.
Cause I think she is always supporting us..
With her music and lyric.

Lanz16 27th June 2008 04:17 PM

If ever she will retire, I'll be happy for her because she will leave a huge contribution to the JPop music industry and to our lives by her beautiful lyrics and her vibrant personality.

But IMO, I don't think she'll retire.
She'll continue to make wonderful music for us.

AyUta 27th June 2008 07:29 PM

Nope, not until her hearing completely goes out on her, I think she said.

ownsarai 27th June 2008 07:33 PM

I think Ayu has at least 10 more years in her. Maybe more. Next year is way too soon for her to retire.

OoxchocolatexmarblexoO 27th June 2008 09:17 PM

Like everyone said, I don't think Ayu will retire that soon.
But I have to agree, I don't think the japanese public nor avex will
be friendly towards her as much as they used to. I mean, unlike the
U.S, it seems that the japanese public fancies new faces(out with the
old and in w/ the new). If she really wants to keep going, I think she'll
have to tone things down a bit(image wise) and sing songs that are more..appropriate
for her age.

I mean if you look at Namie(who has passed her 20's),
she toned down/matured alot compared to the old days.

elepop 27th June 2008 09:35 PM

No chance.

Ani_C 27th June 2008 10:16 PM

It would blow entirely cause it would mean her other ear went boom, she has become a liar and that I will not be able to see her in concert D:

liar??? o_O

ayumisrael 28th June 2008 01:03 AM

As long as she can hear and sing I don't think so. No chance.

majrakun 28th June 2008 01:51 AM

Ayu will only retire after she conquer the world. Her soldier are the ayupans, and her world theme song is Bold and Delicious.

AyuGAME 28th June 2008 02:00 AM

^LOL...so funny comment

but..who knows she will be another "justine henin" wanna be, that retired while still on the top of the world...

knocking wood that it will never happen

taskinillusion 28th June 2008 02:15 AM

No way! She hasn't held a world tour yet! XD

AyuGAME 28th June 2008 02:42 AM

^amen...to that...XD...
let's crossing out fingers everyone...hope that she will make world tour, maybe next year?

I don't think that Ayu can 'mature' as you put it.She has always been a very childish kind of girl and she herself has said that she wants to always be like a child and honestly I like her that way.I don't care if she is 30 or 40.My mom is 47 and she acts like a little girl.I guess thats another reason why Ayu means so much to me.She reminds me of my mom who is my Idol,my angel,my bff and shopping buddy.:D

♥ you! 28th June 2008 06:41 AM

^ aw thats cute!

I don't think Ayu will retire next year. I'm curious to see what she does after her 10th anniversary.

terra 28th June 2008 07:07 AM

^^ Yes, next year maybe too early to think about retire IMO

But if she is to retire I hope she released at least 50 singles and another album,,

About the maturity idea, yes I think she should consider it for her age she should perform as appropriate as possible. Is not that I don't like her cute style but again, 'Auntie' Ayu should see how things now (sorry no offense)

Amai Yume 28th June 2008 09:58 AM

I think she'll be in it for a while
Music is so dear to her and her inspiring persistence makes it seem like she's not going anywhere soon. Maybe taking things a little easier but still in it to win it!
And I'm glad :)
