CHE.R.RY 3rd August 2008 05:56 PM

YAY! New thread! I'm so excited for the Sora Uta single. I feel like it's such a comeback from Natsukashii Mirai (even though I actually liked the song, just not the single).

Mirai Noah 3rd August 2008 06:07 PM

I like Heart, War, so I'm looking forward to the Japanese version.

Kaiouforever 3rd August 2008 06:12 PM

I can't wait to hear Heart War, I haven't heard the Chinese yet so it will be a big surprise for me! =]

pommy48 3rd August 2008 06:19 PM

i LOVE LOVE LOVE!!!! heart war, and no one will ever persuade me to not love it!!! really excited for the japanese version!!!

Faiza 3rd August 2008 06:23 PM

Yay for the 4th thread! Her fanbase is really growing at AHS~~:D

I'm worried that HEART, WAR won't sound as epic in Japanese as it does in Chinese, does anyone else feel the same? I know most people are really pumped for the Japanese version

EDIT: Could you post a link to GRACE's alan discography in the first post? That way it can be easily accessed by any budding alan fans

AyUta 3rd August 2008 06:38 PM

^ I thought the same thing. It probably wont be as epic, but from the clip I heard, it sounded fine :)

Zachery! 3rd August 2008 07:03 PM

yeah! i'll post that now!

I feel the same.. This song is soooo awesome in chinese!
But let's wait! It may surprise us XD

glowlydays 3rd August 2008 08:02 PM

nice title ^^
can't wait for jp ver of Xin Zhan ~RED CLIFF~, i really like this song :D

and i have one question ^^'
does anybody know how the hong kong edition of Ashite e no sanka look like? i want to know if obi has chinese title or japanese? ^^'

dddaiyamondo 3rd August 2008 08:26 PM

Thanks for making the new thread! Looking forward to her new stuff.

GRACE 3rd August 2008 08:32 PM

=D~ I feel special, being all posted at the top~

I hope at least that the Japanese version has a bit of re-arrangement, or at least vocals that don't put you to sleep >.> Heart, War is very pretty, but it's not absolutely amazing.

There's a clip?! How could I have missed that, can you post a link to it? xD

Celaphorce 3rd August 2008 09:25 PM

I really hope her debut album is a CD+DVD release with all her pv's, cause if that's the case I'll buy it...but seeing as she's with avex they screw everyone over all the time.

Zachery! 3rd August 2008 10:05 PM

well, her singles are getting CD+DVD releases, so I'd assume her album will as well.

Does anybody have complete sales of all her Avex and releases (including Heart, War?)

Faiza 3rd August 2008 10:24 PM

^
Ashita e no Sanka peaked at 69 with total recorded sales of 4729
Hitotsu peaked at 100 with total recorded sales of 1486
Natsukashii Mirai ~longing future~ peaked at 19 with total recorded sales of 9184

Not sure about RED CLIFF or the digital downloads

Zachery! 3rd August 2008 10:40 PM

i just uploaded alan's chinese single, Xin Zhan ~RED CLIFF~ to megaupload, mediafire, badongo and sendspace because GRACE doesn't have the download in his discography page.

the links are in the name of the single, hehe~

Zachery! 3rd August 2008 10:56 PM

SHWOOP revamped first post ;)

GRACE 3rd August 2008 11:13 PM

I don't have Heart, War because I don't own it, just fyi ^^;;... I couldn't find it so I couldn't buy it ;_;...

aqua_crystal 3rd August 2008 11:19 PM

YAAAY!!! 4th Official thread!!! Oh, and Faiza, thanks for the sales!!!

Seriously, this woman is beyond amazing!! The RED CLIFF song is.... OMG! And to think I had dimissed her because of that horrible promo picture I saw when she was about to release her first japanese single. I adore alan!

AyUta 4th August 2008 07:50 AM

So the Japanese version of Red Cliff will be released in october under the name 'Kokoro Ikusa'. Great :yes

octocoffee 4th August 2008 04:07 PM

Yay for 4th thread! Nice job Zachery! ;) For those of you who are lazy or maybe have slow connections, here's the transcript of the English lyrics provided by sakuraangel @ Channel-Ai (yay! They rhyme.)

心・戰 ~Red Cliff~ Translation
Spoiler:
Shaking the earth, waves hand in hand flow
No earthly wine can rival the moon's glow
A smile knows what no words can know
A passing glance and all is white snow

Let the mind, not the hands, defend the flight
Walls of iron cannot stop our might
This life, not in vain, not in spite
From every crucible, a phoenix takes flight

Wipe not our tears, Let them dry on the air
This war is one our hearts declare
Victory won with beauty and flair
Rise together! Even a loss we can bear
No fear o this long night we share

Let the cries of war be our song
No comrade-in-arms shall our memories wrong
While waves of the Yangtze so long
Seething, as beore, in our hearts so strong
Why not let the cries of war be our song
Waves that crack the cliffs shall not be wrong

Brief voices speak out, From the heart they flow
No earthly wine can rival the moon's glow
A smile knows what no words can know
A passing glance and all is white snow

Let the mind, not the hands, defend and fight
Walls of iron cannot stop our might
This life, not in vain, not in spite
From every crucible, a phoenix takes flight

Minds in battle will clash and collide
In this war our hearts decide
Let war bring peace to the world so wide
Rise up together and battle with pride!
Let no man fear the long night outside

Let the cries of war be our song
No comrade-in-arms shall our memories wrong
White waves of the Yantze so long
Seething, as before, in our hearts so strong
Why not let the cries of war be our song
Waves that crack the cliffs shall not be wrong

A moment so fast, where did it fly
A wine so sweet, let me drink it dry
A wound meant for my ally
Is a medal I hold high
Every joy, every sigh
Our laugh does belie
The moon lights the sky
Let us drink our glasses dry

dddaiyamondo 4th August 2008 05:05 PM

A friend submitted a review of "Xin Zhan ~Red Cliff~" to my blog! Please read it...

http://dddaiyamondo.wordpress.com

AyuGAME 4th August 2008 05:19 PM

wow thanks for the translation

can't wait to hear japanese version of Heart,War
kokoro, ikusa eh?! cool title..i think

freedreamer 4th August 2008 05:20 PM

whow..did u make that translation...BECAUSE IT RHYMES AND THATS SUPER COOL HAHAHA love the song

pommy48 4th August 2008 05:41 PM

lol i didn't notice the rhyming when i watched the vid~lol that's so cool~

Zachery! 4th August 2008 05:52 PM

The translation is really good!

was the song originally written in English then translated into Chinese/Japanese?

pommy48 4th August 2008 06:01 PM

^ are you serious? or implying that the eng translations are so good? *really, my mind just can't comprehend these things*

Zachery! 4th August 2008 07:26 PM

I'm seriously asking.

Something like that would be like, impossible to do without it originally being written in English.

I mean, That's such a good translation, it's like, perfect. 0_0

pommy48 4th August 2008 07:33 PM

but the translations are not exact, just rather really close, and the lyrics person is francis lee, who's chinese, and it would be rather much harder to translate from english to chinese, since the chinese lyrics are really old-styled, but if you translate exactly from english to chinese, the chinese lyrics will be more literal, and not as mystical feel i think, the person that translated it is just amazing to make it rhyme

freedreamer 5th August 2008 02:41 AM

the english translations make me find the lyrics much more meaningful and cooler hahaha

leo_nardez 5th August 2008 03:03 AM

the translations is so cool~
thanks~

yukihira 5th August 2008 03:04 AM

Beautiful translation to my favorite alan song!

GRACE 6th August 2008 01:56 AM

So, Sora Uta will be out in about week! How does everyone think this one's going to sell? I hope we see another jump in popularity like Natsukashii Mirai was.

Re:★ 6th August 2008 02:01 AM

I think it'll end up anywhere between 25 to 40. :yes

Kaiouforever 6th August 2008 02:14 AM

I agree! But if she does 3+ performances of it on TV, I think it has a shot at being in the top 20.

GRACE 6th August 2008 02:22 AM

Well, Natsukashii Mirai made it up to 19, right? I'm hoping for at least that, but I'd be happy with a little lower if it had to go that way. Sora Uta is a risky song, being so experimental, for her, and with the very polar reactions from people here...

XFER 6th August 2008 04:37 AM

I think the sound of "Sora Uta" is much closer to the general jpop of these days, I can see it being a minor hit.

Faiza 6th August 2008 02:40 PM

If she gets halfway decent exposure she might just get into the top 20 with the skin of her teeth but I'm not holding my breath because Natsukashii Mirai had a pretty big tie in with NHK right?

EDIT: My 500th post finally XD! It only took more than 2 years lmao

kakumei 6th August 2008 04:57 PM

updates at her official site, the "RED CLIFF ~心・戦~" 6th single will be out October 15th, if you reserve at mu-mo you'll get a clear file and a chance at winning an autographed picture.

and different items you can get at various shops for this single:

I want that postcard :)

GRACE 6th August 2008 05:36 PM

*sigh* So it really is true ;_;... How horrid...

Oh well, it's a good tie-in so at least it'll get people exposed to her, I wish it was a new song instead though ;_;...

pommy48 6th August 2008 06:55 PM

that postcard...i don't think no one will ever use that postcard if they get it lol

Zachery! 6th August 2008 07:30 PM

Thank god it's officially her fire single!

I'm happy! I think it can REALLY REALLY help her chart performance.

AyUta 6th August 2008 10:14 PM

I love the first postcard :yes She looks gorgeous on it! I would love to get my hands on it :weep

octocoffee 7th August 2008 12:31 AM

Ah, the HMV postcard is -drool- I just love her pose. As for Sora Uta, I'm guessing it'll be like Natsukashii Mirai in terms of peak position. As for sales, I think they'll be slightly lower. AND HOLY CRAP! Kokoro Ikusa is going to be released on my birthday! This is soo cool.

AyuGAME 7th August 2008 04:43 AM

Red Cliff~Shin Sen~ is up on CDJapan

First Press bonus is a poster!

CD-only: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=AVCD-31492
CD+DVD: http://www.cdjapan.co.jp/detailview.html?KEY=AVCD-31491

Also, this tracklist is up on Wiki for the single:

1. RED CLIFF ~Kokoro Ikusa~ (~心・戦~; ~Heart, War~)
2. Xin Zhan ~RED CLIFF~ (心战 ~RED CLIFF~)
3. Ashita e no Senka (Orchestral Version) (明日への讃歌; A Hymn for Tomorrow)

Could be wrong though, since it is Wiki

paper_doll 8th August 2008 11:21 PM

Wow. The Chinese and Japanse version on one single? That's pretty lame.

Can't wait to see covers.

GRACE 8th August 2008 11:31 PM

I already pre-ordered the CD-only version as soon as I saw it up there XD First press here I come!

AyUta 9th August 2008 12:14 AM

Aw, both versions on the single? That's a waste IMO :irked

GRACE 9th August 2008 12:23 AM

Again, it could be wrong, it IS Wiki. I found it strange that they had Shin Sen's track list and not Kaze no Tegami's though...

AyUta 9th August 2008 12:27 AM

Hopefully it's not true. :no

GRACE 9th August 2008 12:28 AM

I wouldn't mind the Orchestra version of Ashita e no Sanka though

AyUta 9th August 2008 12:37 AM

Oh no, that sounds like it would be pretty :yes VERY pretty :laugh

octocoffee 9th August 2008 12:39 AM

Blech, having both versions would be lame. Japanese lyrics at least add a possibly different dimension to the song, since they need to word it so it goes along with the original melody. The orchestra version of Ashita e no Sanka would be interesting. People are silly.

I really hope Kaze no Tegami is a "Sennen no Niji"-esque song. What do you guys want Kaze no Tegami to sound like?

GRACE 9th August 2008 12:45 AM

I want Kaze no Tegami to be a ballad, but unlike the ballads she's done so far, I want it to be sort of a sad ballad. Ashita e no Sanka, Hitotsu and Natsukashii Mirai are all pretty uplifting, I kinda want a depressing song.

CHE.R.RY 9th August 2008 12:54 AM

^ I agree. A sorrowful ballad (maybe something like Heart,War) would be interesting to hear. I'm a little tired of heart warming/uplifting ballads.

Re:★ 9th August 2008 12:54 AM

You both want something depressing? Weirdos... >.>

Spoiler:
Ha. :P

GRACE 9th August 2008 12:57 AM

Depressing full of emotion songs are always the best! They're the songs that artists are remembered for! alan needs one, and one that's actually good, unlike Heart, War >.>... I really hope the Japanese version will be able to turn me on to this song, I currently don't like it.

Yeah, a depressing song sounds alright actually. :D You don't like Heart, War? :O Can you not feel the power in the chorus?!?!?!?!?!

GRACE 9th August 2008 01:04 AM

Heart, War puts me to sleep, seriously x_x... It's just sort of... long, drawn out, and boring.

XFER 9th August 2008 04:06 AM

I don't think it's lame to include the chinese version of Red Cliff, but if I think that it's taking the space of a possible new b-side, then yes, it's lame!

The song is amazing, I don't see how anyone can fall asleep listening to it :P

paper_doll 9th August 2008 04:07 AM

It's nice to hear her experimenting, the uplifting ballad deal can only last you so long >.>

paper_doll 9th August 2008 05:10 AM

Yeah, I'd hate for her to get stuck in that pretty-ballad rut.

GRACE 9th August 2008 05:12 AM

I wouldn't mind a ballad if she'd do a sorrowful one for a change, but if it was another uplifting one... x_X... But, I'm glad to hear that Kaze no Tegami will be something different

:laugh So true! Sad ballads are so much better than up-lifting ones. :laugh

GRACE 9th August 2008 05:15 AM

I'd really want to see how she'd do a sorrowful ballad, I'd want it to have a really powerful climax!

octocoffee 9th August 2008 05:17 AM

^ Er, duh! :D Happy=upbeat while sad=ballad in my head.

Kaze no Tegami will be rock-ish? Awesome.

I would definitely put "Ashita e Sanka" in the melancholy category, though, IMO. Although it's not particularly sad, I agree.

GRACE 9th August 2008 05:30 AM

^A song entitled "A hymn for tomorrow" can't be sad lol. From what I gathered (read: think I understand) in Hitotsu, it was pretty uplifting too, and Natsukashii Mirai almost hurt it was so uplifting >.>...

I think it can, and it doesn't sound happy at all to me. The lyrics aren't particularly perky either, but I guess people hear different things.

GRACE 9th August 2008 05:43 AM

Well, I agree it's not really happy, but it's far from being a sad song

I actually think it is quite sad, especially the last two lines.

GRACE 9th August 2008 05:59 AM

Musically it doesn't seem all too sorrowful to me =/ Maybe that's what's throwing me off

Akutenshi 9th August 2008 06:01 AM

Ah yeah, the music doesn't sound too sorrowful at all, I understand what you mean. The melody actually sounds a bit hopeful, in my opinion.
