Does anyone know, how much money Ayu has? She has to be extremely rich, hasn't she? Or did never anyone talked about it?

I think nobody will ever know how much money she has, but one thing is sure. She has LOTS of it. Otherwise, why would all her luggage be Louis Vuitton luggage?

omg she sold 50milion records, even if she gets a dallar for a CD she has 50milion dollars already, usually artists get 2 dollars from a CD price. Plus a lot of commercials, especially panasonic pays extremly a lot of. So she got at least 70milion dollars:)

She would have had a lot if it wasn't for tax, rent, traveling and living costs. She probably has more money than you and me in her bank, she certainly isn't short of it in any aspect or the word.

It's pretty easy to make an estimate of how much money Ayu has earned throughout her career, especially since a few years back the tax lists were public. However, it's impossible to guess how much money Ayu has at any certain point of time. She doesn't exactly have cheap living standards.

According to Forbes she is not even listed as one of the 40 richest people in Japan. She probably has about 100-300 million in dollars in the bank (not sure what that is in Yen), + whatever she owns (houses..etc).

I highly doubt she has anywhere close to that, artists usually don't turn incredibly rich due to their living habits and the recording company snitching 99% of the profits.

It's possible, of course, some artists amount up huge piles of cash on their accounts, but the majority don't end up with that much. By what I know, artists like Britney Spears never had more than $300mln at any one time (during her peak), I'm really not an expert on this, but if that is the case Ayu shouldn't be anywhere close.

im pretty sure she is very well off. Its kind of hard to know what their exact net worth is but im guessing she is probably the richest female singer. PROBABLY....

In the world? Far from it. In Japan? Probably not, at least not right now. I think Utada Hikaru topped that list, but I'm not sure, someone else around here should know.

I really don't know, it's hard to estimate how much money she puts away and how much she decides to spend. Considering her shopping sprees, traveling, etc. it's possible that she has <$1mln all the time. If she actually does put money away I'm guessing her savings account might have upwards to $100mln. But honestly, this is guesswork and it's impossible to say. We don't know much about Ayu's private life and money spending/saving habits. As you might know Britney Spears had troubles with money soon after her peak, I don't have a clue what she could have spent it all on, but bills truly has a habit to amount up to neat sums. Even Michael Jackson has been rumored to have financial troubles, no clue about the credibility of the sources of that, though.

Artist royalties are not THAT HIGH, but she must have at least 25-30 million from her albums, but at least another 50 million from tours, merchandise, CM's, appearances on TV, and on...

For an album, perhaps.

I once read that singers usually get around 80cents for each sale of an album.
Of course, Ayu is a well established artist, who writes her own lyrics, and went through a phase of composing her own music too, so she would get more than this.

Ayu tours every year, so that's where the bulk of her income will come from. :)
Of course, it would be silly to think she still has every penny she has earned, lol. I bet she spends it as quickly as it comes in... I know I would!

Well, if she spends so much money, she might not be that rich. But thanks to her working constantly she'll always have lots of money. If she stops, she couldn't spend as much.

Uhh aren't celebrities earnings kept secret in Japan?

The actual numbers (how much tax they pay) are kept secret since 2003 or 2004 but they still release lists of the top tax payers, without any numbers.

But it's true that she won't be in bankruptcy or losing all her money just because she shops too many bags... I mean, she has millions of dollars and must have people giving advice on what she must invest, like properties, or something else...

I think it's a matter of check and balance, I think she's smart enough to know how much she can spend at one particular time and how much she can at another. Plus I think she can manage her living expenses, she's not out on the street xD;

She looks healthy, she has a place to live, she can spoil herself by shopping every now and then and she can do what she loves most, sing. So I think she's pretty well off haha A lot better than me, that's for sure hahaha

I'm sure Ayu is one of the richest singers in Japan these days, mostly because of her extensive touring & merchandise sales.
Tours and merchandise are a way better source of money than music, I'm certain that she makes most of her money that way.

I'm also sure that each of her commercial endorsement deals are worth at least 1 million USD each. There's a lot of money involved in advertising in Japan, even less famous stars get like 300k per campaign. and the pay for top campaigns is so good it'll lure hollywood celebs in japan too ...

Actually, the largest endorsement deal that she, and any Japanese solo artist, ever got is 100,000,000 yen from Panasonic. That's $920,000 per product. Take into consideration that the absolute majority of that money goes to AVEX.

Utada Hikaru is the only other female artist that has ever been paid that much.

Remember that also the tour and merchandise profits all go to AVEX, Ayumi is paid a set sum for each tour/performance or so, by what I know she doesn't get a % of the profits. There was a thread going in-depth with how Ayumi's contracts most likely work a few years back.

are you sure that 100 million yen is the most anyone has ever got. here's an article on Japan Today that states the actress/model/singer Yu Yamade gets 30-50 million yen per campaign, and although she is popular her celeb status is quite modest compared to Ayu.

I would think ayu earns money also from business. I don't kno how much stocks she hold sin avex, but she has some as well as apparently having a say in some matters.

THere was a list of how much artists get per campaign, back in 2002 I think MOrning Musume receive a record sum for a campaign (was it Pocky??) HOwever, Utada and AYu were at the same level. I don't remember the exact sum, but I think immel is right if I remember correctly. Aya matsuura and Aya Ueto got quite good pays as well.
