However, I think that taylayu or whoever only took digital camera photos of the PB / etc.. It's just that quality was really grainy for those, you know? I'm kinda doing this for the sake of those who want to do something with the unreleased images and not have grainy/blurry copies. |
yeah,I understand.I'm just telling you to be careful cuz I know I would probably even cry if my pb got broken because I was trying to scan it.lol

Well, FYI, a week or two after I got my 2 GUILTY copies, I ripped the CD-only one up so that I could scan it for people online.
Of course, there were scans that popped up later that weren't ripped up, but eh. What can you do? (The scans were posted in a lot of different places though tbqh..) |

Just to add this funny comment about how I'm scanning the book.. lol.
I'm kinda sticking the book in the scanner and then putting a box + a huge CD spindle on top to keep it in place since it's bound so tightly. LOL. |

Inbetween my scanning sessions [4 scans each, with HUGE ones whenever I liked a scan and wanted to make a wallpaper] I tried to flatten the book out as much as possible under a bunch of weights.. lol.
I can't imagine how hard it would've been to scan such a big PB though.. this one's so tiny compared to that one omg. |

I've retouched some of your scans to get rid of the moire patterns & the curve of the page. I'm doing them at random as I feel like it. They should be big enough to make medium-sized wallpapers with. In any case, they look VERY nice - and I couldn't have done them without your big huge scans, even though they're only mid-sized. I'm not a pro at retouching, so I kinda just covered up a lot of patterns with strong gradients (I was just making a bunch of wallpapers so.. meh. lol.).
I find it kinda sad though that the graininess is apparent even at a size of 1024x768, but I'm finding that it's a miracle that images that are physically smaller than the wallpaper itself can still result in a kinda good image (while some... look.. really.. bad..) Is it normal to get such fuzzy-like photos from large scans? I'm hoping that I'm not doing anything wrong, but.. you never know. I've only fully scanned like 4 booklets or so in the course of my Ayu fandom. And just because I want to post all of them here too. Wallpapers! (I'll be doing large versions of Voyage and B&D in a few): Spoiler:

Most scanners are gonna give you those moire patterns. Higher-end scanners have descreening filters built-in (see if yours has one in the scan settings.... mine, regrettably, does not x_X).
Luckily you can KINDA get rid of them in photoshop if you go to Filter -> Noise -> Median. Usually for books a radius of 1 is okay but I've found these require either a radius of 2, or a radius of 3 (which blurs the image a bit) and then going to Unsharp Mask. From there you still need to size it down, but at least at wallpaper size, the moire pattern is virtually gone. I'm doing a radius of 2 & then airbrushing a bit for the ones above. (I just did Fly high, but i may need to redo it later - it's either overdone or underdone depending on the area of the image you look at.) |

Just a note on my PB philosophy while I'm at this.
We get photobooks and we look at them like every so often once in a while, but that's about it. I try to scan things as much as possible nowadays because in the long run, I simply want to contribute something that would otherwise have to be waited on for someone else to do. Oh, and sacrificing one PB out of thousands for such a cause imo isn't that big of a deal, lol. The back cover-spine is kinda bent now, but it's not like I'm actually gonna look at it! (The back spine.) |

Shoot. I'm realizing that I should've used the color document setting on my scanner because that puts out such a beautiful photo compared to the color photo setting. WTF?

I dunno if it came out any better after scanning it differently though. |

Sorry, I'm not doing them anymore at the moment.
I'm kinda over it for now since it took me like 6 hours total to scan many of them, and then I rescanned a few for wallpapers.. and including wallpaper-making, I spent around 11 hours doing this. CRAZZZY. I wasn't at the computer for the whole 11 hours, but there was a lot of waiting for the 2000x2000 pixel files to open up. |

I came to think yesterday while I was watching the dvd. The pic on the dvd cover when she wears jeans shorts and a tshirt with the A on the side and the red hat, its actually never on the dvd. Where from is that outfit?

It's from the a-nation '04 footage. She wears it for the encore.
Obviously, they just kinda took photos that they thought were good from the last few a-nations.. seeing as how a-nation doesn't have a photobooklet or anything like that with it, I don't think many artists even have "offishulz" photos taken for the event.. |
