Koda Kumi vs. Misono
 

I am wondering..they are sisters and they actually looked similar..especially in the past before Kuu's style got more and more developed....have you ever compared them? Why is Kuu so popular and Misono not even as much? Misono was more popular than Kuu at one point...but than her popularity went downhill and Kuu started going up like crazy....

any thoughts??

i unfortunately think that since she left her group and went solo....shes kinda started sucking....shes only had like....3 or 4 singles that i personally liked (misono i mean) VS, Kojin Jugyo, Zasetsu Chiten and Pochi are the ones i like. of course shes good at her poppy stuff....i also think that her vocals (as far as ballads go) are really lacking....i dont think she has the right voice for ballads at ALL....

But what i was going to say is that...unfortunately i think people think shes riding Kuu's coattails in a way...when i think of them i think of Hilary and Hailey Duff, only opposite....weird comparison. That and I honestly think Kuu is far more diverse and her vocals are awesome, nice deep and jazzy...i cant really say for certain why she doesnt do as well...but i'd imagine her sisters crazy publicity also has something to do with it...

Despite the fact they are sisters, I'm thinking that it deals with their genre of music. to me, I understand that kuu came up real quick and misono just kinda stayed at the same level and then popularity is another big factor...

I've heard some misono's music and it is crap, seriously and she's had wierd cover shots of her albums, especially the most recent one, where's she nakey.

with VS being the ONLY exception. :P

IMO, both Kuu and misono are great artist. I tend to like Kuu more because her style of music is what I enjoy listening to. Misono isn't diverse with her music and the last time I look Rock isn't a huge thing in Japan that much anymore (with the exception artists whose been around for a long time now). I must admit that I only like a hand full of misono's music compared to Kuu. Also, misono has horrible fashion sense. No one would really want to look like her or wear the type of clothes she wears. Fashion was a key thing to Kuu's success as an artist as well as style. People like the fact that Kuu brought something new to Jpop. Misono just needs to re-establish herself and her music and maybe one day, her music will be likeable to the Japanese public again. :)

let's go to past kuu she was never have any popularity but she work hard and she feel so sad but she keep up and try to sing ballad and pop and r&b she keep work hard and finally she found the popularity but maybe misono when she left her group she lost her popularity evreybody left thier group they lost popularity only beyonce didn't
and maybe they think misono find the popularity from her sister i think she should keep up and work hard

but really i don't have anythink to say only that

Once she left DAT i pretty much lost all interest in misono... and once Kuu started releasing a billion singles/compilations/albums i entirely lost interest in here too... so for me it's pretty much lose lose on either side lol.

This i disagree with... you have Ayumi, Utada, Kuu, YUI, Otsuka Ai (though not AS big now, she's still a success), Nakajima Miyuki, Noriko Sakai, Nakamori Akina, Seiko Matsuda... realy there's quite a list to go back on.

I love Koda. I don't even listen to misono and she seems so non-existent to me. I don't even know she exist until Koda.

kuu is better, because she focus on different styles that never wears her image off, and that keeps us interested. misono got stuck into a randomness oblivion of nonsense :shrug

Kumi and Misono are alike and so different in the same time. They both got really strong vocals that are both strangely annoying and irritating at times. That doesn't stop me from liking both of them though.

I don't listen to day after tomorrow so I can't judge Misono's past works. But I can say that she has improved a whole lot since her 1st solo album (I don't even listen to it much anymore....). Her second solo album is one of my favorite of 2008. Before, she was really squeaky and too poppy. Now she's heading towards rock and it sounds incredible.

As for Koda, her previous music was better in my opinion. At her peak, her music quality got worse and worse. But I think she is heading back to quality with TABOO.

kumi went to the right direction while Misono went to the wrong one. I can't stand Misono's voice. Her high pitch is worse than early ayu. I listened to Misono's new song...the one with her wearing a wedding dress...I actually like the song but her voice ruined it and I cannot listen to it again. Also Kumi is physically more appealing and so is her work. Misono...her chopped off naked body album covers still bugs me...:dead2

and mostly she sang out of tunes..
and it's awful..

misono was quite good untill her 3rd single imo. But yeah, Kumi is heaps better in terms of music and as an entertainer.

Misono has such screechy vocals sometimes, but a few of her songs have been really good. I think that's probably why she's not doing as well as her sister.

Kumi is waaaay better

DAT had a couple of good songs, mainly "Faraway" & "Starry Heavens". I just don't think her solo music is as good as DAT's, eventho it's sorta similar from the little I've heard.

Misono has never had much popularity as a solo artist. one contributing issue to her lack of popularity is that she has problems with her image. she has been on a sort of a "celebrity weight loss"-reality tv show, so it's clear that she isn't doing so well. and she's also considered "big" by japanese standards :o

imagine the stress level you have when your sister is soooooo popular....while you are struggling for your career

i like misono.
her first album was painful, but it had a couple of great singles.
her next set of singles were all pretty good, and i was impressed with how the album turned out. i think im gonna go buy that actually....

and the way misono does the whole 'no clothing thing' is more scary than sexy.

kuu certainly has a better image, but shes now into the more typical jpop 'starlet' scene. whereas if misono were to have that type of image all of a sudden, it wouldnt really sit well with her music. id like to see her stick out more rockish stuff. she has a great rock voice (so does kuu, but she can manage the pop stuff no problem too).

having said all that, i do like kuu better.
but thats probably more or less because we have a lot more to go by with her.
i think misono could be a fantastic artist, she just needs to keep up the work. :)

Honestly, misono was up quicker than kuu at first. Kuu was struggling when misono was having success with her Band, Day after tomorrow. Until Kuu sung FF X-2's theme then she came up real quick. If only she wasn;t offered that role in FFX-2, she might still struggle until now. And honestly misno wasn't as bad as she is now. I dunno what happened to her voice, probably it is due to her sister popularity now that she feels that she has to catch up or sumthing. it is funny how they changed places so fast just because that one role.

And I don't think genre has anything to do with it. There are some great j-urban singers who, imo, as good as or even better than Kuu but they still struggle until now, some even failed and never came back. it was all thanks to avex and its great marketing power and off course a good booster (head start) like ff x-2. Though I have to admit some artists, even with a good head start still failed miserably.

As for everyone saying how cute misono is...
I think she and her sister look almost the same.
And Koda is NOWHERE near as beautiful as Ayu.

The only songs I liked from Misono were faraway and starry heavens and those songs were like back from when she was still in Day After Tomorrow.

I like Kumi's music better. I can get into her songs unlike Misono's. O.O

i really dislike misono. imo, she's just flat out gross and has NONE of the personality or talent her sister posesses. i feel bad for her because it has to be hard having really famous relatives while your own fame was shot to hell. and now that she's taking her clothes off for grauvure pictures i can't help but wonder if she's trying to follow in you-know-who's footsteps for popularity.

anyway, i like kumi a lot better. her music appeals to me more, i don't think misono can even sing very well. and misono is really trashy imo (yes i am calling someone trashy compared to kumi), the video juicy posted is a good example.

I don't think misono can sing. She has vocal talent that normal people have - not what popstars should have. If she wants to get any popularity, she needs to train her voice, not worry about her body only.
It ticks me off when people say Kuu only got popular for her sexy image only. What makes her different than others (I don't mean misono) who try the sexed up image and fail is that she can actually sing and is versatile.

I prefere Koda Kumi over misono. I mean, I personally don't think Kuu is very pretty, but neither is misono, so that doesn't bother me~ Neither do I really mind who is the better singer, because on record they pretty much sing the same because I'm tone deaf.

Kuu's songs are so varied and catchy, I never used to like her but she's grown on me! (I still can't listen to some of her ballads though). When I listend to misono though...it was really odd, her music seemed really busy (in a bad way). That really odd chopped up album cover was really disgusting and distasteful too D:

However~ I do think misono's work with day after tomorrow is better than Kuu's work, just because I prefere that kind of music. It's sort of like...misono isn't amazing enough to do some of Kuu's songs, but I don't think Kuu could pull off "starry heavens"~

Koda Kumi Is beautiful, has a voice to die for, and can dance. Misono looks like a chubby girlband dropout and her voice is horrendous. Sorry =[ She really shouldnt be a singer in the first place.
