PVs killing songs
 

Well, after the release of GREEN's pv, I felt really sad because I didn't like the pv, but I LOVE the song soo much U.U

the same thing happened with other pvs I believe as well:

-Daybreak
-walking proud
-humming 7/4
-Born to be...
-Bold & Delicious
-talkin' 2 myself
-decision
-GREEN


what do you think?? any other pvs that killed the song??

^ yes!! I agree with all the above as listed! I dun like GREEN pv either.. I wonder y sometimes they didnt make the pv good enough.

but I LOVE the song!! oh my...

hmm, the only ones on that list that I would agree with are Born to Be and Bold and Delicious, I'd maybe add Don't Leave Me Alone as well. hmm, can't really think of any others that were so bad that they killed the song for me though.

Hmm, I can't think of any pv that's killed a song for me =S

Doesen't apply to me. There are several PVs I dont' find interesting like FREE&EASY even if I love the song, I just don't watch them. Some PVs also have long parts with nothing really going on liek NWTS,so I prefer lsteining to the song without it.

In the case of Bonr to Be I didn't really like the song that much in the first place. =P

Not the videos, but the random extremely loud sound effects on some of her PVs sometimes kill the song for me. I had to stop watching the walking proud PV because the sound effects are way too loud and they start to make the song sound different (in a negative way).

i do agree that PV usually dont kill the song.. because most of the times, we would be listening to the song rather than watching the PV. But there is this one PV that i literally HATE but the song is damn good and that is..


Born To Be...

I think the same about Green PV.......I like the music but this PV please....

I usually visualize the PV when I listen to a song, so it's not fun listening to it when the PV is icky. XD I usually invent another PV in my head though. XD

For me, a PV can not kill a song. If a song is good, it is good. I don't need to watch the PV any more, if I don't like it.
So... there is no PV, which kills a song for me.

I agree that a PV can't "kill" a song for me. If anything it can only do opposite, for any artist, and make it better or make me appreciate it more.

But if I don't like a PV I just don't watch it again, or very rarely.

I happen to like every song that has an PV more...probably cause i get an image...a live performance is already enough

Oh yeah, I forgot about STEP YOU!! Watching that video was such a disapointment. It was ssoo boring... she did look cute in that green dress though ^_^

The only PV's I don't like are Born to Be...I kinda like the song, but the PV is just way too bright, and Daybreak, way too blah. I wish she would have used the original mix and made a better PV for it. HAL's mix=:no

a PV doesn't really change the opinion of a song for me. the main focus is the song, so i can live with a bad PV, to be honest. i just don't watch it again. xD

Same, I suddenly find that song annoying because I keep picturing Ayu's bad facial expressions in my head. Sad, I used to be so obsessed with it.

Meh. GREEN is a beautiful song, I can deal with it having a not so perfect PV. I know Days will more than make up for that! (At least I hope so~)

For me, music and music video are two different entities, I can love a music video and hate a song, and love a song and hate a video.

at the moment I can;t think of anything else, but I was totally disappointed with GREEN. I hope Days will be much better, because the song is so nice.

None, if I don't like a PV I just don't watch it, just listen to the song and don't feel any different about it. In that sense, no PV can kill a song for me. Even though I found some PVs like Blue Bird, Boys and Girls, Decision, or Trust to be bland with little substance, but I don't like these songs any less. At least GREEN, Mirrorcle World, Dearest, Real Me, Startin', Glitter/Fated, etc. had substance, added more meaning, or added more entertainment to the song (regardless whether or not if you like a PV or if it any makes sense to anyone). There are PVs that make me like a song more though (like STEP you or talkin' 2 myself simply because I found them entertaining).

PVs that I found very good like Marionette, Fairyland, or Together When..., , etc. actually "killed" the song because I found them better than the song even though the song is good. In this sense, killing the song had an opposite positive effect to the song because the PVs made such a strong impression as to overcome the song (like in the phrase "dress to kill"). Oddly enough however, those PVs didn't make me like the song more though. ^_^

I love alot of these songs, but I just cant watch their respective PVs.

I guess for me, I've obviously had disappointing music videos. But there was never a time where I watched the video and suddenly hated the song because of that. :)

If I didn't like the PV, I obviously erased the visual from my mind and continued to like the song. :D

Probably TO BE and Depend on You...

The video to TO BE goes with the lyrics of the song, especially when AYU sings about the junk that someone carries, yet the person in the video is a young child carrying junk, which is interesting because children are supposed to be care free and happy, they are not supposed to feel extreme emotions. I know that somewhere there is an analysis of the Daybreak music video. I have found a little bit in walking proud I find it interesting that Ayu has a child introduce her song and how she walks out into the scenary however the song has very negative feelings surronding it. It is almost as if the child represents her innoncence and the image that people use to refer to her. ALso I think that the child represents the past, the young man dancing is her present, and the older man is her future. Yet the older man looks lost almost to say that he does not know where he is going even though he is older and should be wise. Also when she is lying down on we get a sense that Ayu is almost stripped down, because she appears to be naked yet she has rhinestones on her flesh covered suit which makes her appear less animalistic or human than she really is, which takes away from her faults because she appears to be beautiful and pure. The video to talkin 2 myself I feel goes with the song very well desrtuction is evident in the lyrics as well as in the video.

Funny enough, I love the Daybreak PV regardless of how cheap it was, it brought so much emotion and the true feelings of the song.
