I didnt get to see the final part of the final [I only saw Egg Nog finally leave] so I dont know what her version of Hallelujah sounded like but I wanted JLS to win ;/
I mean even watching it last night you could tell it was somewhat fixed in her favour - I mean come on, She got Silent Night AND Beyonce? Hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm. Oh and about Christmas Number 1 - Geraldine McQueen to get it plz. |

I think it's pretty unfair of the record label to have Alex release her album so early. They should stick with releasing it at the end of the year. I think after Leon's album, they're thinking it's not a good idea to leave a gap between releases incase interest wanes.

I was rooting for her on the show but I already am kind of over this chick. http://i35.tinypic.com/s4cmpw.gif
|
So happy she won. I was rooting for her from the very beginning.
Hallelujah's amazing too. I preordered the album pretty much right away. I hope she has crossover success like Leona did, but I'm not really sure. It's just too bad they're rushing this album. Hopefully it turns out amazing regardless. |
I just watched the results show, and damn.
That host guy, (whatever his name is) was so annoying! He looked so rude when Alexandra was crying & couldn't talk. He was like "Ummm okay, say something *****!" Rude! Spoiler:
|
Who is she?
Alright I'm closing this thread as well... Spoiler:
|
^Wow, I didn't know you were a mod.
I hope she comes to America and does something really interesting, and something very hip-hop. I can see her doing something like Fergie! |
^Really? Idk, I hope she doesn't do something like Fergie :(
I think it would be a waste of her nice voice, but who knows. Whatever she decides to do, I'm sure I'll like it. @Adrian: HA! You WISH you could close threads! :laugh ;) |
Ummm...hip-hop is not at all what she should be doing. She needs to work with Xenomania. It was clear from her performances of Don't Stop The Music and Toxic that she could do that type of music very well. Of course she'll probably do some great ballads though.
|
I think she just needs to maybe sex up her image and get 50 Cent or Lil Wayne on her track. Her voice + hip hop beets + a rapper + sex appeal would equal so amazing and a definite US hit!!
|
she's said she wants to do an old school meets new school soul album with a pop twist.
she's also said that she will definitely collaborate with Girls Aloud, so we might get at least one Xenomania track. |
^Girls Aloud? Hmm, I think PCD would be better for her.
|
why? she never did anything even remotely urban on the show, and stuck to mainly dance-pop and ballads. besides, she actually has a connection to Girls Aloud with Cheryl being her mentor.

What? 50 year old moms? So I guess that means that all the thousands of UK residents who have downloaded / bought her single are all 50 year old moms? Right..
She has a beautiful voice, so I honestly think it would be a waste of her talent to just sex her act up merely to appeal to Americans. I would rather have meaningful, nice songs. |
^I mean in America, hello! Rappers, sex appeal and hip-hop would help her so much if she wants to come here (and I would LOVE that!!).
I think she should do something like E=MC2! |
Alex is officially the Christmas no. 1 in the UK, and "Hallelujah" sold 576,046 copies.

And bringing America into this is entirely irrelevant at the moment. She clearly needs to focus on success in her own country first and foremost. Look at Leona: she sold more copies of Spirit in the UK than she has in the US so far. Now that is a real accomplishment when she's bordering on 2 million copies sold in the UK alone. |
alex is the UK's whitney! even though leona is slightly better than her, shes less whitney like than alex

Have you guys heard her new single Bad Boys?
I'm addicted!! :luv2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woaJX...eature=related I'm a fan! |
I love her Bad Boys song :yes
|
Woahhh thread-revival.
Her debut album Overcome has just been re-released as a Deluxe edition, and let me tell you the new songs are INCREDIBLE. Perfect and Before The Rain are two amazing ballads, so heartfelt and sincere and the lyrics are so nice. I'm sure you guys will love them. I also just have to share this song with you guys, What Happens On The Dancefloor (feat. Cobra Starship). It's my new jam, so addicting!! :luv2 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vk6kTmRiIJw |
I'm surprised (in a good way) that an Alexandra Burke thread was even started. I hope that the re-release of Overcome will be available in Canada so I can buy it! "Start Without You" and "The Silence" were great single choices for the album. Also, her performance of the "The Silence" on the 2010 X Factor semi-final episode was amaaazing.
"The Silence" (Live on X Factor) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9bzDaMv5zGw |
I watched that live performance on Sunday, she was so good! And the ending was so dramatic :laugh Loved the dress.
She's done really well for herself, but I'm not surprised to see that plug the deluxe version of Overcome. It's what they did for Leona afterall. /sigh |
YOU GUYS NEED TO LISTEN TO WHAT HAPPENS ON THE DANCEFLOOR
NOW! I'm so hooked on this song :luv2:luv2:luv2:luv2:luv2:luv2:luv2 |
^that was definitely the track that stood out to me, slightly repetitive but very catchy!
|
I don't know if I should be the bearer of bad news to such a positive thread...
LOL I'mma do it anyway. Alexandra Burke's new album, Heartbreak on Hold, debuted at number 18 on the UK Albums Chart. The week after, it dropped to number 74, a 66 spot drop. It's too bad, since she actually has a nice voice. |
