A brief translation:
On December 26th, 20 heisei years, it was announced on the homepage that one of our artists: Ayumi Hamasaki has injured her right hand and has undergone surgery, and although she is on her way towards recovery, she is not in the best condition (<-- this last bit is guess work.)

However, because of her strong requests, after discussing with the doctor, it has been decided that she will be performing in both PCDL and Kouhaku.

Please look forward to her performance. Sorry for causing everyone to worry.

The google translation was pretty good XD So she seems to have consulted the doctors and they let her perform, so Ayu won't be canceling her Kouhaku and PCDL performances.http://avexnet.or.jp/ayu/popup/081229/alogo.gif

I don't know why, but while reading the translation... I feel really touched. I mean I'm just so moved by Ayu's determination... she injured her hand and even had to undergo surgery, and despite all that, she still REQUESTS that she could perform at Kouhaku/continue PCDL? Man, I'm so impressed with her character. You go girl!

And since her doctors have approved, I suppose Ayu would be quite safe!

Japan's pop princess injured in fall

TOKYO (AFP) — Japanese pop diva Ayumi Hamasaki hopes to appear as scheduled on one of the country's most-watched New Year's eve countdown television programmes after injuring her hand in a fall, her agency said Monday.

Hamasaki, 30, who has sold tens of millions of albums in Japan and across Asia, fell last week, forcing her to cancel a concert to have surgery on her hand, her agency said.

"She is continuing treatment to recover from her injury, but her condition is still not good," her agency said in a statement.

"Nevertheless, she strongly hopes to perform" on public broadcaster NHK's New Year's Eve countdown, it said.

Hamasaki said she fell due to anemia caused by overworking and has since been resting.

"I feel frustrated as this accident was due to my own poor self-management," she wrote on her blog.

She said she hoped to continue with her schedule, despite recommendations from a doctor to take several weeks of rest.

Earlier this year, Hamasaki revealed that she was suffering from partial deafness due to tinnitus, an illness that can be caused by constant exposure to sound.

but with the doctor giving the nod, i am sure she will be fine.!

i just hope that ayu doesnt jump too hard. XD

MissElin_ 29th December 2008 03:08 PM

Hmm I guess that she will have a headset or just and mic stand for help. I hope she dont pulls herself to hard. :) But great news!

I hope the public will understand ayu's plight and not expect too much from her.

Bigtop 29th December 2008 03:53 PM

But that is really the most surprising topic we've ever heard...WHY IS SHE GOING TO TAKE THE RISK!!? It appears she's trying to do her best, despite her injury...

elepop 29th December 2008 04:18 PM

Oh man, I don't want Ayu to push herself too much. I hope she can wear a headset instead of holding her microphone. Hopefully, she won't move her right hand too much when she performs.

It's gonna be 3.5 hours long, and she'll perform songs that she never/rarely performs.

Thanks for the translation!

Arenia 29th December 2008 06:07 PM

AYU GANBATTE NE!!!!!!

kenniFlyHigh 29th December 2008 07:46 PM

ganbattene ~~

this makes me so happy that she's working hard for us, but i think that she should rest after this.. she's in need of relaxation and sleep

jimex289 29th December 2008 07:55 PM

I think the doctor just absolutely caved in when Ayu made her puppy face after he said no...those big eyes. I know I'd fall to the ground haha.

I'm all for her doing this concert if the doctor says it's ok. If anything her strong desire to do this concert might have prompted the doctor to give the green light. As long as she gets some much needed rest before her first performance at Yoyogi, it should be fine.

ren0210989 29th December 2008 09:49 PM

tnx
and thumbs up for the google translator for the normal translation xD

Diego-kun 29th December 2008 10:23 PM

Yay!! I knew that Ayu wouldn't disappoint her fans *.* She's a really great person and she always wants to perform under all cincurmstances. Nevertheless, I hope she will rest the necessary time after making such a big effort.

I don't think missing out on Kouhaku is going to make much of a difference when she's performing PCDL twice anyway....
