Rule PV Discussion

BEST. PV. EVAR!

Seriously, that black outfit was just WOW, and the whole zen backdrop was just gorgeous. Don't quite get the purpose of the elegant outfit, though.

And whoever said she did the Kamehameha was way off. It was more like the Kaio-ken. :D

Alanchan 10th February 2009 05:32 AM

wow! it certainly exceeded my expectations! VERY fierce! and Ayu danced really well o__o! Wow!

waterballoon 10th February 2009 05:32 AM

OMG this PV feels SO DIFFERENT! My jaw literally DROPPED when the special effects came on at the last part of the song... the one where I believe is to be the "attack" of Goku - whatever its name is.

Omg and I LOVE LOVE LOVE the camera effects... it's very cool! And the scenes of her in the gown/glove thingy were GORGEOUS. She looks really gorgeous!

And she looks absolutely HOT in her black suit... omg love love love! The symbolism was pretty cool too - taking off your masks (when the dancers have their masks slashed open), light at the end of the tunnel (at the end of the PV), and just wow!

Ayu looks hot and cool in this PV! I really like it! It's sooooooo different from all the PVs that she has made before! I think if people around the world gets to see this before the movie plays in the theater, they'll love her!

My only complaint was... where's the Because of You look-a-like hair???

I think that was for the cover.

What a pity then. I thought I would be seeing it in the PV... haha.

Oh I forgot to mention in my previous post that the dancing was fierce! When I was watching the preview, I thought talkin' 2 myself's choreography was way better... but oh my Rule is on par, or even better, than talkin' 2 myself!

thesilentspeaker 10th February 2009 05:36 AM

I liked the setting~ it reminded me of edo period and shoguns..
yeah, I was expecting to see the Because of You lookalike hairdo~~
She definitely danced more than she usually does, but I was expecting more aggressive dance moves~

pommy48 10th February 2009 05:41 AM

AMAZING!!!
doesn't ayu remind you of like the head of the yakuza :luv2

she looked amazing and the dancing was rather good, i love the dancer's dance, it was awesome!

it was epic, and i liked the small parts of jeweled ayu XD

Ayumiko 10th February 2009 05:45 AM

I watched the pv a few times...I still dunno what to think of it.

What I like:
-the opening when they opened the sliding doors to reveal ayu's name and rule in flames. That made me excited!!
-when ayu pointed the thing to her dancers and their masks broke and disappeared. That was cool!
-that dragonball thing ayu and the dancers did near the end that made the other dudes disappeared. Very cool!
-the setting is cool too

What I don't understand:
-what's with the blue bird?
-what's with the jeweled ayu?
-the storyline? were the rest of the dudes traitors or something?

Well I like the pv but if I can understand the pv, I'll like it more.

Coelacanth 10th February 2009 05:46 AM

Even though Ayu looks amazing, the PV really isn't worth watching a second time. The whole thing was just random and awkward for me.

waterballoon 10th February 2009 05:48 AM

Just in case anyone was wondering, when the dancers were doing their little solos, I think they were supposed to 'dance' a type of martial arts... and they are...

Shu-ya: Tiger
Maro: Crane
Zin: Eagle
Subaru: Snake
Gomi & Ryoji: Double Dragon

I thought those were pretty sweet.

And an interesting note: Ayu in her gown/gloves... she looks very vulnerable, afraid... very different from the sexy and strong Ayu in the black suit.

Alanchan 10th February 2009 05:48 AM

hm, maybe she, as jeweled ayu, symbolyses the bird? hope? freedom? pure, etc?

edit: and the guys who disappeared at the end, maybe because they followed always the "official" rules like puppets and not the rules of Ayu or their very own rules..? >_> hm...

ayu_fantasy 10th February 2009 05:50 AM

Ayu is Drop dead gorgeous in the PV!!!! She's so so so so Beautiful and Charismatic. Last time, I thought only Namie, kuu or BoA can do dance PVs so well. But after RULE PV, ayu really proved that she's ahead of everyone!!!!

And her dance moves are superd. I'll take my hats off her man!!!

OMG!!! I LOVE AYU!!!!

jkm444 10th February 2009 05:52 AM

Very good pv!! The only part I didn't like is ayu sitting part of the pv. It seems like the director drag that part to much. What does the blue bird in the pv symbolize?

Yeah I think that's how the bird and the jeweled Ayu were related... She was the vulnerable bird trying to break free.

I absolutely LOVE this PV! I can't stop watching it! :luv2

s1012h 10th February 2009 05:57 AM

I'm not seeing what you guys are seeing. I think it's a crappy video with a crappy plot for a song that is pretty good. The wannabe-fierce face is getting old... the black suit is ugly... the dancers are redundant, and the "silver" Ayu was useless. It's like watching Mirrorcle World all over again...

Then again, I never did have high hopes for it XD

ayu_fantasy 10th February 2009 06:13 AM

:) I liked the Jewelled ayu very much though. :)

I do find this pv much better than her other past PVs...

Then again, some people would complain again... Surely alot would say that RULE is a stupid pv with a meaningless plot. Just like how they did with Green PV, Days PV, mirrocle world and glitter/fated so on etc... we shall count. hehehe

Kikaru 10th February 2009 06:13 AM

My first thought: Ayu the dominatrix ninja, no?

Her dancing still looks kind of awkward at parts, but it didn't look as awkward as some of her previous dancing PVs. Although i was expecting at least one high-kick.

I like her new haircut. Although I wish they made it a shade darker.

It's not a Tetsuo Inoue, but maybe I was expecting something worse for an Ishii (Startin' came to mind), and I'm fairly surprised (pleasantly though) at the way they manage to incorporate the blue bird (heh). It helps that the set was done up nicely. Of course, I wish they wouldn't incorporate the sound effects, but it's like...an Ishii PV trademark.

And I think Jewelled Ayu = Blue Bird. Didn't pick it up until the end, but from the color motifs and everything it seems like it.

Rocky Raven 10th February 2009 06:17 AM

PV's good, danced quite well(ofcourse it's not some super dancing but it fitz the song), nice shooting n I enjoy watching it!
but 2BH, it's Special in Ayu PV World but not Special in J-POP PV World

I was so worried about the poor/annoy bird get killed by the fire Ayu shoot out, but thanks God it still fly XD

Haha, Japanese surely find ninja stuff super boring...

Just like how we chinese is bored of Kung fu stuff.... Or anything to do with chinese culture.

KuroixShiroi_Namida 10th February 2009 06:23 AM

nice pv!

tasking 10th February 2009 06:25 AM

It's cool how they included a blue bird and a jeweled Ayu...I didn't think of that at first. I wonder if that was done on purpose. In BLUE BIRD she's very happy and carefree and in JEWEL, she seems trapped (the box). I'm probably thinking too much into it, but that's a cool coincidence.

YuriChan 10th February 2009 06:31 AM

Wow... That was AWESOME!!! I am SOOOO getting the CD+DVD version because of this PV!! I mean... WOW!!! :luv2

Queen Bee 10th February 2009 06:47 AM

I love the PV I just don't get the point of the blue bird and the glamorous Ayu.

love in music 10th February 2009 06:47 AM

i.. was.. gasping.. THE AWESOME PVS ARE BACK

Negi92 10th February 2009 06:49 AM

L.O.L... Lots of dance... 2 chorus, that's all XD ! Look at 3min22 ~ 23, she doesn't do the move XD ! Dancers do it, but Ayu doesn't xDDD, special effect ~ !!!

sanzo2011 10th February 2009 07:03 AM

I don't know how to say ! but i think i LIKE it more after watching PV .

Andrenekoi 10th February 2009 07:04 AM

Woah! Ayu and her dancers look hot!
Very fun plotless pv :D

bluegie 10th February 2009 07:05 AM

I think the pv is lack of something.. I know the main dancers are doing kung fu, but it looks more like dancing than kung fu in the end (lol). I have no idea what the jeweled ayu implies. It does have a theme except I wasn't too into the pv, so I didn't really think about it :P.

Probly I'll need to watch it a few more times to make myself understanding/liking the pv..

Wow, you need to take a happy pill. Anyways, I, unlike you, had high hopes for this pv. The director seemed very promising and Rule is a great song, but it didn't seem to WOW me like Together When... or Days. She looked gorgeous, like always, and the special effects at the beginning lead me on to believe it was going to be amazing.. but then it kind of just dragged on. There wasn't a great plot and the whole thing didn't seem to make a lot of sense... like the GREEN pv. It's still a good pv to watch, I just wanted it to be amazing like the other pv's this director directed.

Well enough of my selfish rant =D Go Ayu!

Sundae 10th February 2009 07:06 AM

The music video was good. I liked it. This isn't one of those PVs with a straight storyline. It was really simple. The camera angles that zoomed in and out were nice effect. The attack special effect was done well.
I'm a bit in between with the outfit. Ayu looks great in the outfit, but I've never liked those outfits that have that bit of fabric that go up the middle, leaving the sides free. I think they could have found something better, but at least she looks good but not my favorite outfit.
The dancing was all right. She only danced for a bit, but it fit the music video. The final pose was a great way to end it.

SunshineSlayer 10th February 2009 07:06 AM

Hmm. I'm not a big fan of the PV, but I don't hate it either. I really don't like that outfit on her though- it really doesn't do her many favors. Also, she made it seem that she dances more in this PV than she actually does. I would have liked to have seen more actual dancing from her (not just a bunch of arms movements towards the end). The setting and effects of the PV were ok. I like the fiery opening with her name. Overall, alright. But definitely not great.

And once again, as with many of her recent PVs, it seems there is a "story" in there somewhere but it is put together to vaguely/poorly to make a whole lot of sense. (until we have discussed it and tried to figure it out for a few threads, which is something you shouldn't have to do)

[taskin.ayu] 10th February 2009 07:11 AM

I liked the PV, it matched the movie quite well. xD However, I don't get the sparkly glove scenes. She should have been wearing a hannya mask instead. D:

Max_ZZZ 10th February 2009 07:22 AM

LOOOL I KNEW IT

i had such low she'll dancing-in-random-backgrounds-for-the-whole-video
kind of video expectations
BUUUT my lowest video expectation tunred out to be SO GOOD!!!

I LOVE IT LOL OMG
honestly mirrorcle world = ok for eyecandy
GREEN = uuum
Days = ok no lie i liked this one
but ya right now RULE is taking the frikken cake

the camera shots were cool... the cool effects and random plot line SIIICK!

Max_ZZZ 10th February 2009 07:26 AM

btw, sorry for the bit off topic,
but the making of and pv will be still be on the album right? because... lol id hate to buy the dvd is ill own the same things later on anyways
im sure a lot of people feel the same?

yoshino 10th February 2009 07:30 AM

Ayu's dancing is so cool! I like the effects at the last part. WOW

AyUmIXx 10th February 2009 07:44 AM

i love the PV..
just don't understand why there's a princess-like Ayu on the PV wearing lots of jewelry? and she looked kinda sad at times...
hmmmmm~~~

maybe just becase looks good and work fine with that sweet part of the song
honestly i'm not into plot or trying to find the meaning of short clips
for me all is about esthetic, colors, image. that all.
and the video is just perfect

sugarbasil 10th February 2009 07:54 AM

I seem to be one of the few who doesn't think that this PV is very good. Honestly, I don't see why some people are saying it's her best PV ever, but that's just my opinion and I respect that. However, I'm disappointed in a lot of ways.

She really didn't dance nearly as much as she lead us to believe. Other than that, I just didn't find anything about it really great. It was just a typical dancing PV, nothing really special about it. That's not to say I thought it was bad, though. She looked really good and the background was nice; I just feel she could have done a lot more with such a powerful, fun song. :shrug

Kogepan_19 10th February 2009 07:56 AM

Yes the PV is artistic...but it's just so hard to relate to.

I'm glad Ayu is not following the trend and she's just doing her own thing...but I'm finding myself more and more distanced from her. She looks gorgeous and everything...but the over-exaggerated facial expressions and letting me down after not being shown an obvious connection between everyone and Ayu in silver clothing. I guess Days just did it more for me.

Maybe I'm just bitter that Sparkle isn't the leading A-side of this single lol. I can see myself already putting Sparkle on repeat for a while.

emi♡ 10th February 2009 08:00 AM

I actually really like it...simply because she gave us something entertaining...although I wish she was dancing more.

I'll have to watch it a few times for all the symbolism crap...but all that is all kind of bonus for me...I just like that it was fun to watch, and that the song is fun.

I think she's really gorgeous in the "softer" part.

but sugarbasil is right, definitely NOT her best PV ever, and it is quite average.

sparkle glitter 10th February 2009 08:01 AM

I love it. I'm so glad it's not like one of those stupid PVs with a hidden meaning or anything, it's just fun & random, like Mirrorcle World. Of course she looks so sexy. Another great quality PV from ayu :)

Dokiyo 10th February 2009 08:04 AM

the bird REALLY got on my nerves....i , personally, believe that it reduced the quality of the vid....~ because, it first, it looked soo real, but then it started to fly and it looked fake and drunk or something. Other than that, i like the pv alot and cant wait to purchase the dvd~

milky_way 10th February 2009 08:06 AM

It was only exciting for like the last minute :/

se7entheaven 10th February 2009 08:06 AM

the last part hand moves is epic

Calico 10th February 2009 08:12 AM

I liked it, purely for entertainment. IMO a PV with a deep story would've just ruined it. Ayu was fierce and sexy, just how I like her. <3

The ending was the best part of all, when she obliterated her dancers XDXD

lilchan 10th February 2009 08:14 AM

its good.
but not spectacular.
I loved the setting, but I liked the guys dancing more than ayu's
and whats with the random ayu in silver scenes..its like some sort of makeup or jewelry commercial that they just stuck in there for randomness

Kaiouforever 10th February 2009 08:15 AM

This PV is awesome! It's too bad there are people who are dissing it because they don't get it. <3 I hope her fans in Japan love this as much as I do!

koumori 10th February 2009 08:15 AM

I~~ Loved~~ Iiiiit~~ ^___^

It's so unique and Ayu <3 She made a statement with the song, and she's following that up with the PV~ The PV and the song fitted together like lego ^o^ I'm so happy! LOL.

I couldn't stop watching it...it gets full marks from meee ^_~

sparkle glitter 10th February 2009 08:16 AM

The parts with her in those gloves fit for the slower parts. And she looks absolutely amazing. No fish lips. Just pure gorgeousness.

Aga-chan 10th February 2009 08:21 AM

I like the PV. Maybe not the best ever, but it's really entertaining. Though I agree with those who say that they thought she'll dance more. The dancing looked really powerful when we got the TA pics, but when the preview came out I was like "Is this dancing!?? It looks like the "STEP you" routine in ninja-style."

I like the set and I love ninja. ^^; ayu looks great. <3 I wished for more dancing, though.
Jewel-ayu was kinda random, but she only appeared during the slow parts, so there probably is some meaning to it. I think it would have been better if she'd worn a kimono or another Japanese dress to fit with the set. I don't think the blue bird was that random. It seems that it was in danger, because the thing its sitting on in the beginning cracks and it flies away. And in the end it flies into freedom. Or something like that.
I'd say the other ninja are probably supposed to be oni. Or at least they're wearing demon masks.

It would be interesting if jewel-ayu and the bird would really represent "JEWEL" and "BLUE BIRD" respectively.

So.. people diss something because they don't get it and not because they just don't like what they see?

Weirdest logic of today

Anyway, I reeeaaaally don't like the PV. Based on the quality, it's so so (wtf with that bird? O_o) and the guy who directs this has.. no... freaking.. clue what to do with her fast-paced songs. Every PV from him has that "If you've seen the first 30 seconds, you've seen it all"-thing.. and that's why I don't get why people like him O_O

ayumisrael 10th February 2009 08:32 AM

Awesome PV no less!!
ayu's dancing at the last chorus is a total win.
She looks so sexy throughout the PV and I loved the whole ninja theme, ayu is the rule (but somehow hesitated - elegant ayu) concept.
Great great.

^The bird's becoming free after going towards her own rule/s and not someone else's.
The PV looks like a struggle for freedom.

freedreamer 10th February 2009 08:38 AM

LOL its SO OBVIOUS the bird was trying to get free...isnt it direct enuf for people to understand? breaking free from RULES...
Birds don't have to be kept in cages...

though I have to agree...the Jewel Ayu seemed sudden and random at times..though im sure it showed purity and in contrast to that Black Ayu. Somehow, i knew she was going to appear at the bridge lol

I really liked the PV..though it would be better if it were bigger..but i cant blame anyone for that. I'm amazed at what Ishii did seriously...He played with CG AGAIN (its VERY Ishii to do CG..but it all worked)

Ayu seemed to have broken out from somewhere and she stole that magic wand/key to free the ninjas...isnt it? then the wand appeared back at the holder...at least that's how I saw it. It relates BACK to the theme of being free and living your OWN life. (obviously you cant condemn a video WITHOUT even thinking deeper...coz that seems very shallow and surface)......
(and why does she free Shuya first...LOL!!!!)

Yea, Ayu made it sound like she danced really tough hahaha..But i think the dancers danced it VERY well..Zin is a genius. Ayu did a fare gd considering she doesnt dance a lot. (Real Me still has her longest dance segment right?)

The opening with the flaming "ayumi hamasaki" & "Rule" screamed DRAGONBALL EVOLUTION to me hahaha..i cant complain abt it..so nvm (I just thought it stuck out a lot in contrast with the very Zen/Japanese setting)

I loved Ayu's expressions actually. She makes the fierce songs (like MW) really fierce and aggressive and I don't mind it at all. Coz she don't see her doing that in Ballads..duh

I like the martial arts theme. Its very Dragonball once again and yet different for Ayu to show that to her audience. And at the bridge...Its disappointing she didnt SING it but she was mouthing the YEA YEA YEA...mannnn..

I loved the choreo at the end. It's really tight and the Kamehameha is just AMAZING...(i thought the bird was gonna get burnt..coz the scene suddenly changed over to it.. :P) the ending pose is graceful yet with attitude...

Really nice PV for an international audience. Ishii surprised me once again. Ayu...well...has always been there for me :P

Meat Pao 10th February 2009 08:46 AM

Wow, it was actually much better than what I expected xD Though the part after Ayu danced where there was this wave of orange shizz sort of made me cringe xD

O yes i forgot to mention how much i like the way the angles were done and all the close ups and pull-aways...they made the PV look very cinematic...and that was cool on Ishii's part

and were there any USUAL male dancesr not selected for the task???..
i still see All of them....and I Go-mi too

Pow! 10th February 2009 09:04 AM

Umm, I like the pv as a whole,,
but
I don't really like seeing ayu with the black costume,, and seiing her with 'angry-wannabe' face like that..

I had hoped that this PV would be very... EXCELLENT.. but,, it's only good,,
I'm a bit dissapointed..

AyumiBest 10th February 2009 09:15 AM

I like it. The bird symbolizes a person who is caged in by rules. Can't do anything at all unless it was according to the rules. The bird looks for a way to get out of the rules. The lock represents the rules.

Ok about Ayu and her stick of gold. (or whatever) She looks like a speaker to me. The stick are her words. The words reaches Shu-ya and breaks the mask (the mask is also representing the rules) and Shu-ya decides to join her movement (So do the other dancers)

Ayu and her gorgeous look. Its what people would expect a woman to look like and act like. Her look to me seems to be like "I don't know what to do". Her hand motions seems to be restricted by the rules.

At the end there are people who don't agree with her and rise up. (Those who enforce the rules a lot) Ayu dances around blah blah blah. She then does those ball thingies and the rule enforcers goes away and now Ayu and her dancers are free to do what they want.

At the end the bird sees the exit. The lock breaks and the bird is free.

There are also scenes where the dancers seem to sneak around. To me its like they are sneaking around the rules or something. XP

I'm sorry if it doesn't make much sense. I only remember bits and pieces of the PV so yeah...lol

CeReSu 10th February 2009 09:20 AM

I don't really appreciate this PV....Ayu is beautiful, Ok, but...
Same dancers (again -__-) and where Ayu dances?
In the end? Hum, for me, Ayu doesn't dance like her dancers. It's a pity!
And, Ayu in diamond dress? What?
This PV is beautiful to watch but not awesome.

"Her" as in ayu's or the bird's?
I'd agree with the former, but not so much with the later, just by the fact that in this case the bird would have freed itself. Yet it looks like the seal broke, because ayu and her ninja team destroyed the oni. Breaking the rules by that, like someone pointed out.

Aggar 10th February 2009 09:32 AM

I like it. no ! ! ! ! I love it. Don't know why ! ! hehe :D

rookies 10th February 2009 09:33 AM

PV's pretty good. ^^

~X2RADialbomber~ 10th February 2009 09:35 AM

That was like Leah Dizon's L.O.V.E U PV. :(

prussian blue 10th February 2009 09:42 AM

not as good as i thought. but stikk okay to me :)

the blue bird stuff is really random and wtf? i dont see any relatives with the the PV

the jeweled ayu is okay, quite pretty, but just... ordinary

the thing that attract me just those dance, she did it pretty good

Ayusan 10th February 2009 09:47 AM

Made my day ..... of laughing of course

Ok so we have a good song, but covers that make me blind, lyrics I find cliché to death and a crappy PV lol ....

Good Lord it was so boring and long to watch, won't even watch it a second time I don't want to sleep on my chair.

She can't stop to appear diva-ish in her PV ? Where the point with the asian feeling ? There is none, and nothing related to the blue bird lol at last when we know the meaning of a blue bird.

Hard dancing ? Results bruises ? How the hell did she managed to get bruises with "that" ? Hard dancing ? lol She really sound fragile princess here ! I waited so much from the PV she sound promising and very excited.

I don't understand, the asian feeling was a very good idea, but o-O ...... as always they don't go further, just stay on the surface. There are good ideas, but it's so messy and so light that it just looks plain boring. There are a few things they could had use better, the blue bird, her ... stick x_x ... oh well a fail to my eyes. Althought the use of the blue bird was a soo good idea damn it !

GREEN had a real meaning behind, but most didn't found it except, omg Ayu turn lesbian .... Days too, even if very sweet plot.

I don't say Rule has no plot it's just like if they lost it while they were recording it. It starts good, she appears, with her magical stick ^w^ the effect on the mask is nice .. but there WTH ...... You have diva ayu : look at my jewel and gloves, how cute, Ayu laying lazily on a couch for an unknown reason, they could have add something .... dunno the guys could do something, a fight or dunno what >.< ... hop hop move to the side, move your arms, get bruises dunno HOW ... and ... damn it, it could had been so much better !

I will just remember the blue bird finding is freedom.

ashleychow 10th February 2009 09:50 AM

the pv is okay but i think i could just see a sexy ayu rather than a cool ayu....
btw the dancers are really so hot though i agree that they are more like dancing kungfu

AyumiBest 10th February 2009 09:51 AM

^You know I did really expect a fight. It would of looked awesome if she fought. LOL

Best pv since STEP you and is this LOVE?

the style, unique, just what I was looking for *-* I'm soooo glad that I'm an Ayu fan right now, I just couldn't ask for more/better.

ayu is finally stepping up a little :P

about her dancing, I guess that because of her ear problems, her balance might be a bit bad, so yea, she still did an awesome job ^^

the ayu with jewels all over, goddess, just as she is :)

the dancers dance, AWESOME, GREAT, best dance for an action pv ever :P maybe thats why we all noticed that ayu didnt dance much lol because all the others did a great great great job :D

and about complainings, i dont think those people are really into ayu at all :no thank god you people got other singers to spend your lives on....

apparently those 2 are related ^^ ayu jewelry as the bird?? :P

EDIT: oh yeah, when she wakes up the dancers *-* (well, when she distroys their masks) I LOVEEE THAT BIT xDDD

HanabiChick 10th February 2009 09:59 AM

It started off interesting, but after a while I found it a bit boring with Ayu just doing overly dramatic poses that didn't seem to have much connection with the other dancers or the PV, and the random 'diva' shot that didn't really seem to have much to do with the theme. Everything just seemed too random and disconnected, with the dancers doing most of the actual work in it. It was a bit like MW's PV, bit too random and not well thought out, though visually it was stunning.

Emperatriz Ayumi 10th February 2009 10:04 AM

I really LOVE the video!!!!!!! I love the dance, the outfit, the scenary, everything!!!!!

Have you noticed the new dancers "chests"? OMG OMG OMG LOL!!!!!!!!

sparkle glitter 10th February 2009 10:05 AM

LOL i love when a new PV comes out, people keep complaining complaining and complaining. It's so hilarious to read. I even searched the forums for some of her most awesome PVs and discussions on them, and most of the people here still *****ed. I don't know how i'd live being as pessimistic as some of you :laugh

I'd agree with the former, but not so much with the later, just by the fact that in this case the bird would have freed itself. Yet it looks like the seal broke, because ayu and her ninja team destroyed the oni. Breaking the rules by that, like someone pointed out.

Yeah I meant "it" sorry, the bird XD.

Of course they are related.
The elegant ayu shows hesitation to break the rules and still bided by the rules that are not hers, that's why the bird is only getting free at the end of the PV after ayu breaks the rules and eventually the door getting unlocked for the bird to fly for its freedom ^_^
It's a pretty obvious meaning PV though I don't understand why others say some things are random but oh well xD

I KNOW
its hell annoying...

personally, the only pv that i felt that it wasn't very good was GREEN, but now I love it xDD

but seriously, people complaining over and over again is just getting silly.

I agree HanabiChick. When it started I was like "this looks promising". But then it just went kind of downhill when there was nothing truly amazing, and the plot wasn't really that awesome. The plot was just pretty much "the bird flying to freedom" and all the ninja dancing and stuff felt like fillers to me.

While watching the PV I was thinking how Ayu has changed a bit, and she's going to a direction I don't really like. Like, wth is all the "I'm sooo fierce.... I'm making some sexy and scary faces at you and yea I'm like a hell of a diva!!" thing she's been having since MW. (though I think it begun somewhere around t2m) I just wish she'd drop it and go back to being sexy and fierce in a not-******y diva way. :b Like she was in GAME and Because of You PVs.

P.S. I'm not complaining, just saying how I feel about the PV. Some like it, some don't. Nothing you can do about it :shrug

miroro 10th February 2009 10:12 AM

I LOVE IT

ayu looks stunnig. The dance is great, the dancers are doing a wonderful job :)
and the "jewel" ayu looks gorgoeus!!! *0*

the connection between ayu and the bird is ok, but at first i didn't get it hahaha.

Not her best PV, but it's really GREAT.

Jewel-ayu wouldn't be as random if her clothes matched the overall feel of the PV. At least, in my opinion.
Though maybe jewels = easy to break (vulnerable) and the grey outfit symbolizes her indecidedness between breaking or obyeing the rules just like grey is a colour in between black and white?

(LOL Over-analyzing can be so much fun. ^^; )

Jason 10th February 2009 10:16 AM

Obviously, this PV is just entertainment. To be honest, I haven't actually looked at the translation of the lyrics to Rule yet, but I'm sure the PV shares no story to the song, but as I said, it's supposed to be just pure entertainment.

Now, I was dissapointed with the PV. For such an energetic and in-your-face song, I was watching this PV expecting it to be somewhat of the same: energetic, fast paced and a alot of dancing. I don't know, but until the last scene (the dance scene where ayu actually dances), I was constantly being let down because I wanted this PV to be fast and action packed, I wanted it to be so much more.

I honestly think the PV kills the song...

fair enough...
i understand where u come from and agree ;)

but the ayu going back to the old pvs... i dont think is going to happen... her music is evolving, and i personally believe thats getting pretty interesting, but obviously for some is just getting annoying.

all depends in the sence of taste i guess, plus, she cant make happy all of her fans all the time... but she tries really hard and thats why i love her soo much :P

she did it this time thou, for me and the majority at least ;)

keikeiaznqueen 10th February 2009 10:21 AM

Holy crap, I loved it.

I think this is the kind of PV that I'll love for the first time but won't watch again until some time later. (Unlike Days and Dearest...)

The camera angles were great. The pace everything moved was great, perfect with the song.

The only thing I thought could have been done better was the transition between the really beautiful jewelled Ayu and the dancers dancing their own Rule trademark dances. That seemed a bit random.

But dayum! Jewelled Ayu is soooo gorgeous!!

Ayu's black outfit... the bit that joins the bottom half with the top half... the curved shape of the sides makes Ayu looks less nice... looks as though she's wider than she actually is.

yeah IA. & personally i love her divaness. she does it so well and just looks hot. people who don't like it oh well, she'll probably keep doing it in future PVs, which is fine with me, but not so fine for the uptight fans :yes

tokyoxjapanxfan 10th February 2009 10:22 AM

i like it :D i liked the little individual dancer solos the best, tho. those were really cool xD and i like the end dance

yea
shes a diva and she knows it lol she does it pretty well as well ^^ plus, shes getting older, not younger, so she wont go back to the evolution times or anything like that. and I'm fine with that as well :D

MissElin_ 10th February 2009 10:29 AM

Well first, the plot and the story for the PV is extremly obvious!
She is fighting against her will and the Rules, like the bird looking for a way out in a never ending maze. Then, with a big boom she break the Rules and sets herself(and the bird) free.

But I kind of agree, there was some random scenes when she is just posing, but I think they are pretty important just to get the feeling of the situation.

Its not one of her best PVs, but soooo much better then like MW PV that was crazy bad (imo). Well well, Im very pleased with this PV. ^^ Its clear, tuff, cool and filled with attitude. And for a theme song I feel that this was a great PV. :yes

Haha yeah it's really hard to please everyone especially when her fanbase is so huge. :P

But I didn't really mean that she should do PV's which are like GAME part II or something, of course that wouldn't be good xD What I mean is I just hope she would drop the diva thingy. Ever since she's started doing it I haven't been able to relate to her in a way I used to, and I know I'm not the only one. I don't like how she starts to remind me of all the western pop stars.

But yeah well... Good for her that many seem to like this PV though. :)

Sorry for being "uptight". :rolleyes

I think the director wanted to make her stand out in those scenes and that's the best way he could think of I suppose hehe.

You have no idea how much the lyrics relates to the PV =D

About the action packed thing, well... the director can't fulfill everyone's exact wishes.
They gave energy throughout the PV though.
Because it does have meaning and does relate to the lyrics it couldn't be only and forward too much action packed, though it was in many bits.

Tony G 10th February 2009 10:36 AM

Need better quality, you can't make out much with this LQ video.

But I like it. I think the PV is just entertainment, the meaning is either not there or just too hidden.

Definitely not her best, but good. I actually prefer the Green/Days PVs to this one.

And the PV makes the song sound a lot better.

yea ^^

i agree lol
she've got soo many fans from different tastes, etc etc, even countries! lol

i just hope that people starts to be a little bit more empathic and understand where she comes from with her work. thats all :P

Not~Yet 10th February 2009 10:52 AM

^I know what you mean. And it's not like this PV is unbelievably bad or anything. I just wished it would've had more plot and action. And at least she dropped her diva attitude for better compared to MW. xD

And I actually liked the last group dance scene even though I still wish it would've been totally crazy from what she's been telling in TA messages ("i got bruises" etc) like someone already said.

But I think since this song was made for the dragonball movie it has to have a more commercial feel and the plot has to be simple and easily undestandable so it's okay.

Lanz16 10th February 2009 10:55 AM

I like the PV but not that much.

I like the new concept like t2m does.
The PV is very artistic and symbolic as I see.

Shuuya reminds me of Kakashi from naruto series. :D

majrakun 10th February 2009 10:56 AM

When she first came out of that door, I was freaking out a little because I thought she'd be walking like that for until the first chorus at least. Thank goodness it wasn't!

I really loved the japanese setting. It was amazing. I was hoping for a dark PV, but the tatami mats and ninjas totally made up for it. I think Ayu looked really hot when she was singing while sitting down. The jewel Ayu, although pretty, was random. Was she even wearing anything other than the gloves and earrings? Sure it matched the slow parts, but the transition wasn't really the best.

I like the dancers' tattoos. I wish Ayu had one too. I wonder if they were hand-painted?

Zin: Eagle
Subaru: Snake
Gomi & Ryoji: Double Dragon

I thought those were pretty sweet.

Oooh, really? So I guess that's what was written in the background and depicted on their tattoos as well? That's awesome!

Btw, did anyone see how Gomi just lifted Ryoji up in the air for a few seconds during their solo? That was WHOA.

Yeli13 10th February 2009 11:05 AM

Good thing, I'm not disappointed by the PV. I was expecting something bad, but the PV is pretty. The opening with Ayu's name and the song "on fire" is very appealing, and I love the camera effects. Moreover, they included several Special effects that give the PV a special style.
When I first saw the jewelled Ayu, I though "What's the matter", but coupled with the bird it makes sense

love ur details xDD

I should look at the lyrics then :P I normally always do, dunno why I haven't now.

The PV will probably grow on me, though. On the plus side, she looks beautiful as always and the dance scene at the end was superb. I got the blue bird part straight away but yeah :P As of now it's a letdown, but time will tell.

AyUmIXx 10th February 2009 11:24 AM

hmm.. don't we always love to speculate what's the meaning behind a PV (plus the song)?
and now all the sudden, ppl just think that it doesn't have meaning?
hmm that's ok though~
it's just...
very random, all the sudden, there's another Ayu who looks like a princess and looking sad & desparated maybe..
i mean it's kinda random, if it's random, so i think there's actually connection..and i just want to know what ppl think...

but anyway~~~
i just read what waterballoon posted about the 5 dragon warriors on the PV.. wow that's coool!!!
Ayu's a big fan of Kungfu Panda???

micster 10th February 2009 12:18 PM

Arguably her best video since 2006. She looks amazingly hot, the dancing is cool, theres no real story but who cares look at how hot she is. I thought I wouldnt like the video but visually it was just awesome. I think more could've been done with the video based on the song but its actually pretty much perfect. Only one question now. Why the hell are the covers like what they are if the video is like this. The song, rock. The video, black leather and hot. The covers, a load of balls. I wish the covers were better. I want a sexy poster of her in leather; not a pink monstrosity with her in a Kill Bill esque costume.

waterballoon 10th February 2009 12:45 PM

Yeah, this PV had very good camera angles and visual effects... it's really very cool.

And um, thank God the PV wasn't a random video of Ayu singing and showing snippets of the movie... I was so afraid that would be what the PV would turn to be!

micster 10th February 2009 12:47 PM

Oh thats my only bad point actually, I just remembered. Why does she always exaggerate her mouth when she mimes. Annoys me throughout Mirrorcle World and annoyed me at the beggining of this video too.

maikaru 10th February 2009 01:00 PM

I think it is pretty plain to see what the Ayumi in gown and jewels is..
The Ayumi in black leather of course because she her is really really powerful, would look weird and contradicting to sing those vulnerable lines.
The lyrics makes perfect sense about it, I think..
And I think the gown Ayumi really looks like her old self.. like from so many years ago, so it's really good!!!
Also I think the gown one and the blue bird are the same person..
It seems there was a storyline that the ninja dudes are looking for the gown ayu,
Cause after she sings bridge, they show the ninja guys looking and searching..
But maybe they had to cut it on for time???
Anyways, yeah, so then at the end, we see the blue bird escaping.. so it seems a connection.

And I think the Blue Bird is just a symbol that anything could live the way they want, even small bird that can escape so quickly.
I like when she sang "let's destroy them" she made those energy things... and then destroyed so many of those copy cat ninja people.
And the fighting/dancing!!
They tried to trap the Blue Bird at the beginning, when they re-locked it..
But they couldn't do it!!~
And I think she broke their masks with the wrong end of the stick thing.. ahaha

And I believe this is a LOT of intense dancing for her.
She is not a dancer, so this is great.
And I remember Zin said everyone on himself was bruised.. I can notice why!!!!

I really love this pv.. it's really great.
Much better than Green.
I can keep watching this one over and over!!!
And the camera work is amazing!!! I love the zoom in and out

Shu-ya and Zin looked so different!!!
