AVEX using cheaper materials for production?

I recieved my copy of Rule/Sparkle CD+DVD+poster JAPANESE VERSION from CDJapan 2 days ago, and I noticed that it feels a lot lighter than other singles like glitter/fated, t2m, INSPIRE (all of them cd+dvd as well)

and also, it doesn't close very well, the thingy with the lyrics inside feels cheap too! the colors, the material, etc.

the obi is smaller as well (maybe this can't be a reason because other obis are pretty small too, like the one for the Daybreak single)

and the poster, is minimal!

so, do you guys think that AVEX is using cheaper materials to make singles, posters, etc? maybe because of the economy problems??

I would like you who bought the single to compair it with other singles and find the differences!

Meat Pao 5th March 2009 11:56 AM

I don't see how the OBI is smaller :shrug it had always been that size.

About the weight thing... yea I can feel the difference, but I guess it's the booklet cuz inside is only like 2 pages or something lol iono.

rusuke 5th March 2009 12:07 PM

Well, I won't be shocked if avex would minimize their production from CDs to PVs. they too are affected of Global financial crisis. Sad to say.

zoomzoom 5th March 2009 12:19 PM

Did you get overseas version or something? I actually noticed that the Rule/Sparkle CD single appeared of higher quality than usual, with extra thick photo-like paper.

minkAYuko 5th March 2009 12:23 PM

Overseas version does not have the same quality as the japanese version. I got my copy yesterday and they feel and taste like always :P.

I got the Japanese version from CDJapan and im not the only one who noticed the differences between this single and the others

ayuchloe 5th March 2009 01:04 PM

yeah... the economy crisis affects the whole world a lot... i dare say

Lanz16 5th March 2009 02:52 PM

Nope, its just the same as usual.
I received my own copy today (CD Only with Days+POSTER!!!) and it feels the same thing like on my "A" single:
the same quality except for more glossy photo paper used and the JEWEL case is slightly lighter(?) than ever.

Keiichi_JPU 5th March 2009 03:45 PM

The paper is good, just like usual.

The case however.. This is my first single that comes housed in a double jewel case, but when I compare it to GUILTY.. the quality really sucks. You have to bend it until you feel like it's gonna break to open it xD it's like a really flimsy case!

I hope NEXT LEVEL will be in a good, sturdy case, just like GUILTY :)

PinkShinigami 5th March 2009 04:06 PM

You are right!

There is much differences between my A BEST 2 and my Rule/Sparkle. As it's the only two CDs i have, I can't really answer of the colors and so, but i have had the closing problems as well. I'm so scared of breaking it each time I open it! I have as well wondered at bohe edge on the CDs. It's just like they printed the labels, put some glue on the CDs and *done*. Pretty wierd.

But I really don't hope that they will be to cheap of NL!

ayu is startin 5th March 2009 04:09 PM

i don't think so!

i have some older ayu-singles,

A's complete material is not soo gut like this from AUDIENCE or evolution!
but i've INSPIR/GAME too, and i think the material is cheaper than older!
when i look to my CAROLS single (CD+DVD) the material is a lot better!

(ô.Ô)

I hate some ayu singles don't have back-papers..

meaning that when you put the CD's in a stand (so that you only see the side), sometimes it's blanc!

This is the case for most old Ayu singles (like Surreal. I got so annoyed of the empty gap I printed and glued my own side-strip, gawd).

And now for Rule/Sparkle, the top half of the jewel case got one, and the bottom half doesn't! that's why I keep it in the plastic thing so that I can put the OBI in and I can still display it real nicely! xD

I know I'm obsessed but it's bothering the heck out of me! Now what should I do with all my side-paperless CD's! Those include:

-Days/GREEN DVD
-All A COMPLETE CD's and DVD

I'm like.. AAAH I can't stand it XD ONE STRIP OF PAPER is all it takes to make me happy xD

i know what you mean!

it doesnt really bother me now, but i remember the first time when i got a single... i was like WTH is like that LOL

im use to it now :P

AyUta 6th March 2009 09:31 PM

Well I wouldn't be surprised. This recession is effecting the world, not just the US.

Ayumi_lover 7th March 2009 05:11 PM

well, it's a first-press feature - extra thin box. I thought so^^
and it was announced I really think. And avex don't want to spent much money on this single because they even started promotion of an album before even singles release

SURREAL__RAINBOW 8th March 2009 12:32 PM

^true!

but i had noo clue that it was announced?? thats soo weird!

wenren93 9th March 2009 10:17 AM

hmm,
i think avex wanted to save cost for their production :X u knw, global financial crisis, even japan also affected (in fact the whole world la -.- lol) so .. still will affect abit.
hope the next level album the album quality won't disappoint us :D
cheers!

SURREAL__RAINBOW 9th March 2009 11:46 AM

^yea true!

the quality wont be bad at all

but im sure they will have to look for cheaper resourses!! :D

and Japan is very affected by the economic crisis! :(

Keiichi_JPU 9th March 2009 07:53 PM

NEXT LEVEL will definitely have high quality packaging! I expect a nice and sturdy case and high-quality glossy booklet.

OMG I only realised just now this album will have an actual photo-booklet! :O I'm not used to that after all the singles I've bought!

I'm looking forward to all the pictures :laugh

SURREAL__RAINBOW 10th March 2009 11:11 AM

^ i cant wait!!

no, japan is less affected than many other countries right now.

why should they use cheaper materials in the first place? this single didn't sell particulary bad and had only one PV. if the materials are of less quality then it's just a rip-off.

I just has the OBI standing on the singles side xD It looks quite..? Because of the OBI should be about ½cm further up, and it's standing with the front to all my room, but whatever, I would do this if it had the strip or not xD But yes, it's wuite anoying..
