My predictions are relatively low...3-400,000+ for the first week due to lack of promotional activities and because of avex's little "choose your favorite artist" scam.

I really think it's unfair of them to release SO many A-list stars material all within the same month---Namie Amuro, TOHOSHINKI, Ayu, Koda Kumi, BoA...I mean I know that they're all rivals and all, but can't Avex think about the fans of these artists. I don't know about many but I'm a supporting fan of Ayu & THSK...but with a college tuition to pay, I can't afford to buy both of their albums within the same month. I mean, I could always just wait but until next month to get one and but the other now, but it brings to fruition the "choose your favorite artist(s)" concept.

I don't know how the economic condition is in Japan, but I think this marketing strategy by Avex isn't going to work out as well as they intended. Every one of their releases sales will end up slashed in half because of this. Or at least that's just my opinion.

The economic situation in Japan is frankly, terrible. Actually, if you think about it, avex releasing ALL of their A-listers in March is a "good" idea because the financial year closes March 31st...So, they really gotta make some quick cha-ching!!!

There's -some- slightly big competition this week... Kuu's got 2 best-of / remix albums coming out, Tohoshinki's got a new album coming out, and T.M.Revolution has a best-of album coming out. Honestly, I think Ayu can beat them all. Her sales might not be so big this week because SO MANY PEOPLE are releasing singles and albums this week.

I'm excited to see what the sales are like =) Can't say she didn't do any promotion, because she was actually on the radio and she was in some magazines lol

She'll be #1!!! Daily, weekly, monthly!! ^_^
I hope sales in First Week would be at least 450k

But NEXT LEVEL comes out tomorow, 09.03.25, not today!

Ku's Remix albums isn't what I'd call competition. The Collab best isn't going to sell more than BEST~Bounce & Lovers, both the albums can't possibly sell more than TRICK in it's initial week. And no Tohoshinki will probably not cross 70-80k in their initial week. DCT can however pose a threat to Ayu getting #1 as they are obviously selling really well. And even though I think the album could sell well I think that 450k in the first week won't be possible :( but I could be very wrong.

Hmmn, unless ayu can't pull off 100K on the first day, otherwise I dun think DCT will be a threat.. their Sunday sales was about 45K. I dun think their Monday figure will be higher than that. So no, DCT won't kill ayu off. The only person that will kill ayu off no. 1 spot is herself... meaning when her selling power is less than 200K on the first week.

One thing I'm worried is Kuu's 2 "BEST" albums. They look insignificant, but on the pre-order charts, they're doing really well... I'm just that little worried that Kuu's "BEST" albums would outsell NEXT LEVEL or something... though as impossible as that seems...

2) BEST~Bounce & Lovers around 250-300k

Pre-order charts aren't good indicators ^^ RED CLIFF topped pre-order charts on many sites and it flopped in Japan. in 2008 the best selling CD on CDJapan was a Dir en Grey album and we all know that they are far from selling like crazy in Japan (it sold around 40k in it's first week). Do not fear, Ayu's here :p

Oh i remember this. It's very reliable right? From the position the sales figure is not high...I hope other versions of NL (#8 and #9) will sell more...

I think getting number 1 won't be a problem. What will be more interesting is actually whether it sells good or not. The fact that the most expensive version is number1 on Jbook makes it look like the bulk of sales right now are from her core fans. (thats expected for first day sales though)

I believe that Ayu will reach the #1 spot but I doubt her sales will reach beyond 300k in the first week....I mean...even formerly strong sellers like Utada and BoA tanked with their new releases (yes they were English albums but still...)...so not that confident. Although, I do give my best regards and I'm glad to know that whatever sales she achieves, I helped contribute to it =P

NEXT LEVEL is surprisingly getting promotion on ORICON's home page when you go on it...it shows up as a flap on the top left of the page.

Ayu barely ever gets ORICON attention other than breaking records lol.

anyhow, i think this number will plummet tomorrow considering people most of the people who bought multiple copies are hardcore fans who would've pre-ordered the copies.

the USB prolly won't sell more than 10 000 copies. And this is an album, multiple versions won't affect the sales much considering economy crisis + the fact that albums are expensive + the 2CD+DVD is limited as well. BoA's BEST&USA had 4 versions as well and it didn't help at all. No one is going to pay more than $200 to get all of them.

A complete's first day appears to have been 116,801 copies. So hopefully, NEXT LEVEL can even beat A Complete in the long run

No, I think that's the index for A COMPLETE... A COMPLETE should have sold at least 170K on the first day (~110000 index x 1.7).

I think sales figure will drop by 2/5 or maybe half tomorrow, but i hope not! =p

It'll be nice if those numbers are real. Second day's numbers will drop like heck though.

I would say the only truly unexpected numbers though are Utada's. Ayu's may be a bit high, but not that much considering the 4 versions.

How so? It's not like these 4 versions include different extras so you have to buy multiple versions of the same release to own everything.

If those sales are real - wow they're good.

Because there will always be hardcore fans that will buy 2 or all 4 versions. Thus 127,000 doesn't accurately reflect the actual amount of people that bought the album. Which just overall will always make it difficult to accurately compare to albums that only have 1 or 2 versions.

^I agree. the figure can't really reflect how many people bought the album. I just hope that the drop won't be that big tomorrow... Like, at least 50 - 80K for the second day..

As far as I know, the 2ch one should be accurate - that person has posted the accurate sales figures in the past but who knows I guess.

Now I'm seeing some other people posting the 99,200 number on 2ch though and some still posting the other one. hmmm. Not sure which is the correct one. Sorry, should've just waited for the official oricon update.

If the 99,200 one is true though...thats a little too close for comfort with Tohoshinki. Although I will say that 99,200 at least sounds more accurate to me.
