how come it says 292k in the oricon thing??

Oricon count sold in stores copies, RIAJ counts shipped from company copies.
For many artists it seems as of late that their companies ship a lot of copies way more than what it sold xD.

292k is the number of copies sold so far, recorded by the stores themselves.
The remaining number of the 500k are copies still in the store, or sold by stores that may not submit to Oricon.

Honestly its not such great news when the number of copies sold is no where near the number of copies shipped. Avex must have been expecting her to at least hit close to 500k, as was I.

That's great news! Although at the end it will not sell near the amount shipped...atleast avex/ayu made money from the amount shipped. I don't think next album will reach this status.

too bad it'll take her two years to sell them all.

And plus, think of it as the equivalent of 2 million copies in America, right?

Then you say that with Duty they were expecting it to sell 3 million, with (miss)understood they were expecting it to sell a million, with Secret 750,000 and now with NEXT LEVEL 500,000?
(and that's without mentioning other of their artists with a huge difference between the shipped and sold copies).

Great news! Since they're counting the copies shipped, the 500k includes all the copies sold through YA and other stores that don't count Oricon sales!

I think the situation is better than "there are 200k unsold copies in shops". Not all stores send in details for Oricon!!!

I don't think they will acknowledged the 650K amount in this context

I know there are some sales not recorded by oricon but i always thought it's a tiny residual amount. How can the unrecorded sales by so much? I think avex overestimated the demand for this album. Maybe only time will tell.

By the way... I'm pretty sure this not only a avex thing... each store buys the number of copies they want to... If the shipment number is high and oricon sales are low, that means the stores demanded more copies than people buy...

I'm basing it on A Complete which was certified triple platinum even though recorded sales was quite above 750k. Even Mirrorcle World which sold almost 200k on oricon was certified gold (for 100k copies) so it seems like they shipped too much this time. But good point about the other albums having much higher shipping figures than oricon figures. Maybe technology is better and they are compiling sales from more stores compared to years ago.

Looks like they've usually been overshipping a little. But I think we should give NL more time. Its sales are pretty steady, it might be out of the Top 10 soon but I think it will take a long time to drop from the charts completely

Oh man sorry about that. Anyway, i think it's better to show the talk you know. Like Blue Bird sold above 250k and was certified platinum whereas MW didn't seem to have the sales to show for it. But who knows, maybe all the copies were really snapped up. My friend claimed to have had difficulty finding it for me in Japan.

^ Quite true @ MW being hard to find in Japan. I only saw like just one CD+DVD Jacket A copy in one of all the CD shops I've been to when I went there LOL.
