To celebrate Ayu's 10th Anniversary, VIVI's 25th Anniversary, and 100 entries of Ayu's DejiDeji Diary (published in VIVI), a commemorative book was released compiling all of Ayu's entries from 001~102 and included new photoshoots and interviews.

Wow, the last thread passed 500 replies! Let's continue the discussions of the book including sales, media coverage, previews etc.

Has there been any reports of total sales for the book so far?

where exactly would we find out how sales are doing? i've checked around and can't find anything.

^ I dunno. I'm kinda hoping sales pop up somewhere =\ We know the initial print run was extended by something like 15k due to preorders taking up almost the entire original run, but we haven't heard squat about how many copies were actually sold.

In Australia, the weekend entertainment sections of newspapers usually print lists of new and best selling books with a tally on how many they've sold...I wonder if it's the same for Japan? >_<

I wish Oricon did book sales! They do everything else...

Will I get the first press? The description still says "B4-format" but it's searching from suppliers..

And inn other news, mine arrived today in a huge box! xDDD It's so awesome but won't fit into my scanner..... :(

I can see how they managed to fit so many diaries into 168 pages though, they've taken all of the text and images and rearranged them :) I'll still try to scan the new shoots at least but they will probably turn out horrible >_<;

I also got my USB FP and NL too! Mmmmmmmyaaah!

Keiichi: I think at this stage you'll still get FP. They made an extra 15k copies or something to boost the numbers available in stores. If you're anxious though, dora_ts7 has two copies for auction at about $59 each. The shipping will be a bit high but if you want it now.... =\

CDj had it short in stock again today, and there it also says b4, I guess YA should also have the b4 sized ones then.

I officially hate my scanner. I tried to hook it up to my laptop but it's an HP and requires installation of software. I tried to do it but something went wrong with my system32 files and the computer turned itself off lots of times o_O. I'm worried about my lappy so I don't think I'll be scanning them at home now.

Unfortunately the book is just a bit too big to fit in an A4 page scanner. At work I might be able to scan a few parts of the pages but to join the half-page scans together would be really hard and look awful. I think that for great scans we'll have to wait for someone with a professional equipment for scanning or the second pressing.... =\

currently they are having this promotion where you got 20% discount on the book if you buy another item of any value in the same receipt.

So i just got myself a mechanical pencil lead.

RM180*80% +RM1.20 = RM145.20

Has anyone ordered the book from HMV Japan? Because I would like to know if the shipping price is 1500 or more since the books is quite heavy.

hey, how many copy did you see there and when? You know what, I tried to order the book online few days ago (the website said that the book was instock). Then they replied me with this:

I was wondering if the book really sold out or it just the staff there who didnt try to find the book properly. Because I just dont want to take the risk of didnt get this awesome book, I just proceed to order mine at CdJapan yesterday at around rm150 + 2800 yen of my cdJapan point..

I didnt use the online system but call instead. I called them wednesday night and they said they have a copy ( i dunno how many copies in total they have). So i just tell them i would like to reserve that copy and collect it on Friday.

Maybe next time you should try call instead of using online system, you know how efficient sometimes we could be in spite of having international standard equipment...

oic. Now I wonder whether they can deliver to my house if I order by calling them. Because its not too convinient for me to go pick up the book at KLCC because of working and my parents.. well..Im not staying in KL but Serdang so yeah :P

Anyway, Kinokuniya did offer me to make a "special order" for me from the book publisher and they claimed that it will took at least 2 weeks. But when I ask them again whether they are sure they can get the book from the publisher, then they replied me again with this one:

Unlike cdJ customer service which is for me is very friendly and did try to help their customer to the best for especially with my Deiji Deiji book case and Im very pleased with it.:innocent

I really want to get the book too, but I'm afraid I won't get the B4 version. CD Japan still has the limited edition, but the shipping costs are insane. What to do? Are there any other shops that still have the B4 version?

YesAsia probably still has it because it's still in the description ("B4 size") and the price is still quite high (62$). I think the regular edition will be a lot cheaper.

I think the only book with a disc is the 10th Anni Documents book, that's coming out in June *sob* The VIVI book doesn’t have one (although that would be cool)

I also with YA would have mor eproduct info in English, you barely get any info sometimes - you really have to already know what some items are before ordering =[

I believe it's still the B4 one. The description on the page still says so, and so far there hasn't been any official news regarding the smaller version already being printed (or has there?). And also, the price didn't change. If it was the smaller one, I doubt it'd stay at US$62.
But if I really get the smaller version, I'm gonna complain(!!!) T-T
And maybe try and get my hands onto a B4-sized one. ._.

I ordered my copy on April 8th, and it was shipped today (April 22nd), that is exactly two weeks, so 14 days.

It says "WITHIN 21 days" that means it can be shipped sooner.

I really want to buy this photobook, but is it really worth it? I want to make sure before I buy it. If it's nothing special, then... yeah. :-P

Well, the biggest draw is that it's the compiled 102 VIVI DejiDeji Diaries that Ayu has done so far. Every single one has been put together in the one book!

They are arranged in numerical order and each year page has a list of Ayu's discography from that year and little images of Ayu's photoshoots from that year in it.

The beach shots are new and there's a new interview too but they're in Japanese.

I like it because it collects the diaries for all these years together, a few are missing from the collection that are scanned. Mostly the earliest ones.

I'd totally recommend if you can speak/are learning japanese or are after your first Ayu book purchase. The quality of the book is amazing, it feels lovely to hold, it's really smooth paper xD

At this point we don't know if the second edition will be cheaper, it's probably best to order asap so you get the big version, the diaries look lovely and have been rearranged to fit onto one massive B4 page per entry, where they're usually 4 pages in the magazine :P

All the diaries won't be in Chinese though... right? Probably just the interview and such.

ayu's diaries are available in the chinese version of vivi IN CHINESE, so if they do a book I think they'd just use the translated ones...and if some of the earlier ones weren't translated, then I'm sure they'd just put the extra effort in to translate them.....

I think the second printing was due 1 month after the first pressing went on sale. You'll most likely get the first pressing if you buy bow, but in a week or so they may only be able to get second presses =|

Omg I never had to pay that much for shipping in my life! If I got the book from HMV the shipping would have been 1,500 yen I believe... I think books in general are just expensive to ship because I bought my friend in Japan a textbook for his birthday once (he's a physics major lol) and it cost $30 just to send it. *sigh*
