[Question & Discussion] Opening of ASIA TOUR 2008

Everybody knows that ayu broke the tradition by starting a concert with the "acapella version" of talkin' 2 myself. She only sang 2 lines of the 2nd chorus.

破壊する 事により 創造は 生まれる と いう 事を
君は 知ってる

which translates to

"You know that creation comes after destruction"

Does anybody know the meaning behind ayu singing this phrase? I mean what's so special? Not too sure about it though.

Was it that ayu felt that there is too much destruction going on in the world such that she decided to make a statement? :P

I know it's impossible to get a correct answer, but what are your view. It is open for discussion!

love in music 17th June 2009 08:12 AM

maybe because it's the best line in the song?

pommy48 17th June 2009 08:12 AM

I never really wondered about why she sang it acapella at first, i just thought it added to the effect~

mcluva420 17th June 2009 08:22 AM

maybe its lik the theme of the concert, and its probably the most meaningful/main line in the song

there are many other lines that are good in the song too! :P

I am not sure about you guys, but i feel that this "acapella" segment after The Judgement Day kinda killed the opening. It sorta make the whole song sounds disconnected. :(

well thats my opinion.

What do you mean by tradition?

Andrenekoi 17th June 2009 12:44 PM

That means "This is my image changing" and them she releases Next Level :P

I second this.

alternarist 17th June 2009 02:50 PM

ayu never start a concert with some acapella before. so she broke the tradition by doing it in 2008.

zyoeru 17th June 2009 03:41 PM

^ Oh...that's such a random tradition.

alternarist 17th June 2009 04:09 PM

its not my tradition either. Do you have any comments? :)

Andrenekoi 17th June 2009 06:03 PM

She started a concert with a capella on A-Museum :P

JackieRos 17th June 2009 06:06 PM

she wanted to do something different and IMO it was good that way
I also love it that she consumed her audience by looking aroung
Didn't she do a RULE acapella in NEXT LEVEL tour?

Exactly, she sang A Song For XX, which was a very impressive concert opener, I think.

alternarist 17th June 2009 07:13 PM

ok fine i missed out that one. my bad. :P

anyway, the qns is why did ayu chose to sing that sentence from t2m. Discussion?

"You should know creation comes after destruction"

talkin' 2 myself - ayumi hamasaki

"Did I imagine this kind of future?
Did you imagine this kind of future?

Did I wish for this kind of future?
Did you wish for this kind of future?

Is this the beginning? Is this the end?
Did you give up? Are you holding on?”
Are you shrugging off? Are you in despair?
You tell me just to go forward"

Mirrorcle World - ayumi hamasaki

I've always thought the first and last song of the main concert as a question and answer kind of thing. :)

jean-baptiste 17th June 2009 08:47 PM

i always thought, since its her anniversary, that line means something like "no matter what mistakes/hardships i've been through these past 10 years, im starting anew" or something.
well, i dont know if im wording it correctly, but i think it ties in with her 10th anniversary.
i also got this idea because of the reBIRTH opening video.

maikaru 18th June 2009 02:39 AM

Yeah, since the main line of Talkin' 2 Myself seems to be that very line,
It sounded really nice too, it's a very powerful line, and a great way to make a statement, don't you think???

chloeM 18th June 2009 04:02 AM

erm.... it opens the acapella nicely... it's weird to have sang... genjitsu wa... itsu datte~

LacusClyne 18th June 2009 01:10 PM

i thought Secret tour was started with evlution acapella too?

anyway, the AT08 is darker and i think what waterballoon said makes sense, t2m link with MW

pommy48 18th June 2009 01:24 PM

^ is that considered acapella, peco and princess are vocalizing in the back and the piano is still playing?

waterballoon 18th June 2009 02:40 PM

I think evolution in AT 07 is more like an acoustic/piano mix... apacella is more like when you sing without any instruments, and with like other people to make up chords... it's kind of confusing imo... cos the most hardcore form of apacella is like having a "bass", "tenor", "alto" and "soprano" voices and sing. More often than not, the 'bass' can also be imitating the bass of the actual song.

its not acapella because theres piano, peco and princess would still be considered acapella though

pommy48 18th June 2009 03:13 PM

yeah that's what i thought~ acapella is without any instrumental accompaniment~

i think Secret was acoustic rather than acapella.

Anyway, i dint noe there is link between t2m and MW. whats the link??!

noidea 18th June 2009 04:23 PM

^ if you are talking about the evolution opening in AT07, it was not acoustic, if a keyboard is used it's NOT acoustic
And the link between t2m and MW was explained somewhere in this thread, I think on the first page

waterballoon 18th June 2009 04:30 PM

I suppose he has read it, so I apologize for not explaining well.

Well, I think in talkin' 2 myself, when she sang that line... it corresponds to Mirrorcle World. Like 'creation comes after destruction', then you have 'Have I imagined such a future?'.

I think it's a case of 10 years, and there's a new creation (a NEXT LEVEL ^^), and has she imagined such a 'future'? Remember back in 1999 she honestly wasn't sure if singing was her thing and all that... but now I think she knows the answer.

And talkin' 2 myself x Mirrorcle World is the representation of the question and answer she has chosen for her career thus far.

"You should know creation comes after destruction"

"Have I imagined such a future?"

krazeyo 19th June 2009 12:34 AM

I sometimes think that fans over-analyze what Ayu does XD.. I think she just did it to add effect to the song/concert and that she felt like it :p Kind of a repeat of A museum. She just wants to give a good performance (imo).

A Song for XX with acapella was 10x better than talkin' 2 myself and her voice carried much more meaning.
Also Rule acapella for AT09 doesn't really seem to serve any role than as concert opener. (it does seem cool though~)

Buttt with that said.. I like waterballoon's explanation too :P

waterballoon 19th June 2009 07:52 AM

Honestly I think that only AT 08's apacella was on purpose to bring out a point. ^^

noidea 19th June 2009 11:21 AM

^ yep, A Song for XX acapella was just too long and too random to serve with special meaning IMO and Rule...is just cool xD with all the lights^^ and Rule isnt really acapella, there ARE instruments, just not in the same parts ayu is singing xD

A Song for XX acapella was the best performance she did of A Song for, I think... Even though it was long, it doesn't feel long at all, because every sentence has so much energy in her voice. Her singing A Song for in acapella really made you listen to the lyrics, and maybe even the people who it was written for could really understand then(Her mom and everyone around her at that time~).

Anyways, I really love the A Song for acapella, but Talkin' 2 Myself one is okay... and I think the Rule one is just to emphasize, "we won't follow rules set by someone else." etc.

Andrenekoi 19th June 2009 07:21 PM

Ok! "Analizing using translation" time!

A Song for XX

Why am I crying?
Why am I lost?
Why did I stop?
Please tell me
When will I grow up?
How long can I stay a child?
Where have I come running from?
Where am I running to?

I had no place to live. I couldn't find one.
I don't know if I could have any hope for the future.

Using her most iconic song to open the concert celebrating her 40th single seens to be normal to me :P Considering that when she wrote this, she didn't expect to be around for long time, having a 40th IS very special... And in the end, IMO, those lines of A Song for XX are stronger than the chorus

talkin' 2 myself

You know
That creation comes after destruction

Again, another celebration concert... To me she is just saying "time to kill the old ayu to create the new one that will be around for the next 10 years". To me, Guilty is the album she used to say "Ok, this circle of my life and career ends here...", and those lines from t2m are used to say the same thing on the concert, that she needs to finish that decade of singing in order to start the new one.

Rule

I don't need the Rules
Decided by someone else
Because we are the Rules
I can't give way in that matter

Isn't it the main theme of the album, the main theme of the concert and the main theme of her whole career? Don't letting the rules decided by the society to stop you from going further, or to the Next Level?

waterballoon 19th June 2009 07:35 PM

Great analysis... just one thing. A Museum was for her 30th single, not 40th. :P
