Duo's Bio

ON/OFF is a Japanese pop duo which consists of twin brothers , actors turned singers Naoya Sakamoto (坂本直弥) and Kazuya Sakamoto (坂本和弥) .

Both brothers were born on the same day/year ie. Dec 10th 1983 , with Kazuya being younger than Naoya by a few mins .

They are best known for their 2nd single Futatsu no Kodou to Akai Tsumi as it was used as the opening theme song for the anime Vampire Knight & also their 3rd single Rinne : Rondo was the opening theme song to the anime Vampire Knight Guilty .

The brothers's comeback single Butterfly is currently being used as the 2nd ending theme song for the anime Durarara !! & this's the twins's 1st release of new material in almost close to a year & 2 months .

well they're pretty good even though unfortunately they don't have a distinct music sound like NEWS

still they have some nice songs & no thanks to my younger sister who canjole me to try their stuff out

she watched Vampire Knight & Vampire Knight Guilty , that's how she came across ON / OFF

she doesn't like Kanon Wakeshima whom provided the closing theme songs for both animes though , bummer

Oh, I love this group! They have great voices and my favorite single is Futatsu.
Wish they were bigger though...

I did thought of buying the limited edition of Legend of Twins I : Futago Densetsu which has a DVD & an 80 page hardcover photobook but it's SO expensive @_@

I think I just will stick to getting the normal CD only edition of their album as it's more affordable for me

took me a while to distinguish between Naoya & Kazuya but not anymore

Usually normal is the only thing I get, but it still works! I just have to pay my bills first then I'll order it.

But Kazuya looks slightly chubbier to me? That is how I tell him apart.

I think Naoya is cuter! When I first watched the Futatsu video I was like "wow, he's really attractive!" And I like that he is older, even if it may be by a few minutes or seconds. But they both are a little on short side.. I just may not work.

Hana Kagari's ace imo :heart . It's sad that it didn't charted because it was only released in 1 edition (unlike Eien no Setsuna which had 2 editions & their VK singles were released in 3 editions) & there weren't any major tie in promo , drama & anime wise

They generally have some nice covers for their singles & CD but the one for Hana Kagari's a bit o_O :laugh

I like it!! The concept is pretty good but the twins' expressions annoy me :P It's REALLY unfortunate it didn't chart, I was looking forward to seeing where it would end up on the charts since their previous releases have been pretty good (for a debut group)

that's true

they prove the point in that it's important when comes to releasing of singles in that

1) multiple versions are handy
2) strong tie in for a drama/anime will help raise awareness for sales

in which Hana Kagari more or less demonstrate as to why it didn't chart at all T_T

pity because I really like the song

it's so different from the A-side & it's quite cheesy here & there but since it's summer inspired & it's summer right now in Japan (no differences in season in S'pore) , guess I can cut some slack on this

I really love Rinne Rondo and Futatsu No Kodo To Akai Tsumi. They're amazing openings.
But Eien no Setsuna is just terrible and I can't stand it. The B-side is even worse.

I must listen to Hana Kagari, even though I've got a feeling they can't do nothing properly out of VK.

Yes they do! It was a 17-song album called Legend of Twins I (can't remeber full name) It was very good although it had very few new songs.

it was released in 3 editions . The one that has 17 songs is the CD + DVD Type A & it comes with a 80 page hardcover photobook

the other 2 editions namely the CD & CD + DVD Type B , only has 13 songs

^At the moment, it doesn't seem like VK is going to have a third season anytime soon (hope I'm wrong though). If it does, there's a 80%+ chance they'll be doing the opening again! Same for Kanon W. doing the ending because it's obvious that VK has given them a lot of popularity.

So, right now I like Signal, Eien no Setsuna and Futatsu... Still listening to their debut album.

The B-sides in Futatsu no Kodo to Akai Tsumi , you can find all of them in Legend of Twins I -Futago Densetsu- so don't be surprised if you find the same songs on their debut album cos after including all the B-sides taken from their 1st 4 singles , you only are left with like what 3-4 album tracks :tired

but Legend of Twins I -Futago Densetsu- is really solid , I enjoy it :D

^whether they release it tomorrow or after 5 months, I'm really glad theyre still in the music business and haven't randomly vanished like most anime-soundtrack artists do. I really liked theyre first album so I'm going to be looking forward to this one :)

their release pattern can be very unpredictable that's for sure :O

I mean the release time frame differences between Hajimaru no Wa , Sayonara & Akatsuki is really huge X.X but most of the time luckily , the quality of their stuff's great

I guess the CDA for Legend Of Twins II - Zoku Futago Densetsu -is very costly due to some special packaging & extra goodies thrown in , it happened before for Legend Of Twins I -Futago Densetsu-

Anyway for their 2nd album , I'm fine with the 'normal' CD + DVD pressing , I want their PVs in DVD rip !

I don't know what's the tracklist for Akatsuki but wow I'm actually glad I don't buy their singles because the B-sides for both Butterfly (CONNECTION) & Hajimaru no Wa , Sayonara (Kimi ga Inakerya) are included in here _|_

Mata Ashita & Kimi ga Suki both sound like ballads to me :p

Also this time round , the tracklist for Legend Of Twins II -Zoku Futago Densetsu- is the same for all 3 editions , unlike the time when Legend Of Twins I -Futago Densetsu- was released :O

Anyway , I'm going to preorder my copy of Legend Of Twins II -Zoku Futago Densetsu- now via HMV Japan . I want the DVD rips of their single PVs :P
