I love the "Eternally -Drama Mix-" by the way.
When Utada was doing Exodus, we had to wait until the end of the year for "Be My Last". And then we got "Passion" just a month or 2 later in December. I wouldn't mind another combo like that as far as the timespan between the releases went, but I'm sure Kingdom Heart II's impending release date had a lot to do with how fast "Passion" was released. Would hate to have to wait that long again though for something. Lately we haven't gotten a typical Ballad Single since "Flavor of Life" in 2007 so if she's following the same pattern as she did with Exodus and "Be My Last" it may just be time for another although I hope not. Even so, Utada can make some pretty unconventional and interestingly arranged ballads so it could still be exciting if she goes that route. I know she said that she's ready to do something weird but who knows if that means her very next Japanese Single will be that something weird. She may be saving it for later. |
I love utada's ballads! It's hard for me to like ballads sometimes,because I think their too slow,so I have to get the lyrics to enjoy it. But her ballads are amazing, it's different from the rest.

Her ballads are something else I'll say. I never tire of listening to her ballads and I don't know why.

Her ballads are extremely heart-wrenching, and I love them because of that! :D One of the reasons is that she has a great voice. (And her lyrics are strong.)

I honestly didn't need that picture to know that Utada was ALIVE and WELL. There was no reason to believe otherwise.
The rumors impatient fans came up with were just ridiculous from conception. Utada doesn't want to blog and keep us up to date on her day to day life everytime she takes a pee then she doesn't have to. |

Judging from her body size in the new picture, I guess this time she doesn't really care whether the English album was success or not, and she just wanna do music. During the last album her body swelled (don't kill me off.. To me it's like she has put 20 extra pounds to her body). It's a sign that the failure affected her mentally and she basically ate a lot to release that stress.
Btw I'm not discussing she was thin or fat during that time. She did gain weight after Exodus. |
I think Hikki should gain some weight, she looked very healthy and good in those days. Too skinny now, doesn't fit her I think.

First Love is her signature song in Japan. They love it and often sing it at karaokes~ The same goes for Ayu's evolution :D But that doesn't mean everyone agrees with that ;) I agree with others: Automatic, Hikari, Flavor of Life, Sakura Drops, Wait & See... :heart

^ Not techncially. It and the b-side are songs made under U3, a group composed of Hikki, her dad and mom. I think 2 or 3 peoplehere have heard the two songs before but most of us haven't so it is a new release in a way.

Thanks. I was looking for scans like this. The article was written a couple of months ago but nothing has really changed for Utada other than CBTM falling off the charts. CMTM did pretty well considering. She should have released another to help the momentum. Does anyone think that this is it and she'll just go back to Japan or not?

Meh. The wait was a little too long for me. I don't really care now. And now that she doesn't have "Come Back To Me"'s momentum to smoothly glide off of into the next Single, it's like she's starting all over so it's very important that she releases the right Single. She might even be able to get away with releasing another Slow Ballad Single again being the long wait after "Come Back To Me".
I still would like to see "Merry Christmas Mr. Lawrence - FYI", but being that she performed it along with "Come Back To Me" way back when, it feels old now and not as fresh so "This One (Crying Like A Child)" sounds like a good idea. Now that all of her fans have already bought the album, she doesn't have that as a buffer and really needs to grab some new American fans. I don't know how that's going to go. |
