The Pronunciation of Some Ayu Songs (Out Loud)
 

Okay, so this has been kind of bugging me for a while. o.e

First off, "A Song for XX". How do you say that out loud? "A song for double-x" or "A song for xx (Saying the two x's)" or what?

And now, "+". Do you say, "Plus"? I don't know!!

I can't think of anymore at the moment, lol.

^ I thought that "+" was meant to be said as "more than"? That's always how I've seen it written...

Whenever she had tv performance of A Song for XX, it is introduced as A Song for.
Also Album name for A Song for XX in CM is also A Song for.
Also, in Japanese, the xx is batsu batsu, which is like insert here in english.. you dont say batsu batsu, just insert the word, etc.

Yup, Maikaru is right, I've no idea about more than, but I think it fits.
independent more than sounds better than independent plus...but maybe someone Japanese can explain that. XD

^ I think some people have confirmed it's called "More Than". But I just call it Plus because, well + = Plus xDD

I think that when RAINBOW's tracklist was first released, + wasn't a 'hidden track' and was instead listed as:
xx) independent
xx) more than

As the release came closer, "more than" was removed from the list and "independent" became "independent+"

I pronounce A Song For XX as either A Song For Ex-ex (LOL) or A Song For. I pronounce + as plus.

i never knew the + = more than part. that's new to me :roflmao

but was the tracklist released by fans or?? since the title changed from more than to +, the pronounction should be changed as well??

but i'm still wondering how do you pronounce Humming 7/4 ? "humming seven/four" or "humming seven quarters" ?

Heavenly, I just say Hummingu...but I'm guessing it's Humming Seven Four.

The CM would say A Song for.. so this should be the actual one.
but i always say a song for xx (pronouncing it as alphabet x )~

Humming 7/4 is technically pronounced "Humming yonbun no nana" which in english is "Humming seven-fourths"

the "more than" thing is unfounded. When the song was first heard on Ayu Ready, I remember people calling it "more than..." but i never saw that title in any official source. So I dunno.

In Arena Tour 2005 she very clearly introduces the song as "hamingu yonbun no nana" right before the drums & guitar start up.

+ is not the name of a song. The song is: independent+, which pronounces "independent plus". That song, which people insist to separate, is clearly a continuation to independent.

The confirmation that "A Song for XX" pronounces as "A Song for..." is in the CMs for the album, in which the title is spoken.

^ but why does she perform it without independent then? and when she performs it solely the title is + on the dvds and setlists, + is a hidden track, it may continue where independent ends, but it also is an independent song by itself(lol)

plus (five plus five, not five more than five, but either works)
humming seven four (god knows why anyone would say "ha-mi-n-gu" its pronounced humming, or else it would have been written in japanese)

Maybe fans assumed it was a seperate track because of the previous album which had Flower Garden as the hidden track at the end and from LOVEppears with kanariya as the hidden one there. :s

So Humming 7/4 is Hummingu yonbun no nana, but on the subject of independent+ I don't think that's right imo... because if it was a continuation of independent, then it wouldn't even have a name...but I guess we're free to speculate. :P

Well, we'd pronounce it as Humming, I'm sure Ayu's saying it with a Japanese accent-thing, making it "hamingu", yeah? No? Yes? o.o

Dude, you're into japanese music. You probably have plenty of lyrics memorized. Is "yonbun no nana" REALLY that hard to remember? Honestly. I'm not saying we should pronounce "humming" with a japanese accent, i'm just saying what Ayu said. :P~

Nah, generally I just use whatever 2ch shorten the song titles together. Well...sometimes it depends. :)

I am white. I am not going to pronounce every english word with a japanese accent cause ayu does.

Actually...Crea is a brand name...and the brand name is pronounced cray-uh. So it doesn't change its pronunciation...so saying it kree-uh isn't not putting an accent on it's just pronouncing it wrong... like saying duvet doo-vet. :P

I recall "+" being referred to as 'more than' when it was first heard, however most sites list it as プラス　when crediting it as an ayu ready? ending theme. Also, I could have sworn that I've heard ayu refer to it as 'plus' before.

I know the ASFXX is pronounce as A Song For... But I like to say it A Song For XX(saying the 2 Xs.

For the +, I like to say it as Plus.

I find it weird that '+' is pronounced more than, when I hear more than I relate it to this sign '>' ya know?

On the titles "A Song for XX" and "+" are pronounced this way:

Even yo-chan pronounce it as A Song for in the 3rd disc of AT08 where Ayu sing all the acapella

I hate the pronunciation of A Song for XX. It sounds so weird to me to say "A Song for" :roflmao But I think "More than" sounds nice.

And yeah, it's basicly from CMs for the ASFXX album you hear it, I don't remember how I knew More than though ^_^

she did said 'a song for xx' as 'a song for' in her concerts while '+' is 'more than' in don't know where while 'humming 7/4' as 'humming seven four' in concert too

wait...didn't she perform "+" at some concert and at the bottom it actually had the title written out as "more than?" i swear i remember that...
