Another Hikki English album update...
"According to Daily Sports Online, Hikaru's debut album under Island Records will be released in early 2004. It states that Island Def Jam is putting a lot of money into her impending debut, going so far as to create an advertisement team specifically for Hikaru's debut (titled "HU Project," as previously reported on Hikaru-Online.Net). This is only the second time that Island Def Jam has done this for an artist, the first being for Mariah Carey. Hikaru is said to be receiving "VIP" treatment, much like the aformentioned Ms. Carey.
The article also mentions how Hikaru has not been in the spotlight since her appearance at the Matrix Reloaded World Premiere in May due to the fact that she has steadily been working on her English album." Credits to Daily Sports Online + Soompi ======Thanks to Takumi Roke at do-as-infinity.com====== I'm more and more looking forward to the album now, with the dates set and everything. I hope Hikki does the English version of First Love on the album, seeing how popular that song was! I also hope Hikki doesn't follow in Mariah Carey's footsteps...like initially very popular and then all commercial. |
Thnx for the info..:wave
Thanks for the update. I don't think Hikki would go all commercial though, she has no need to.
Thanks for the update.Hikki is lucky to actually have a lot of money for her new album.I've been looking forward to this after finding out she was going to release an english album.
Sounds great! I think that more money in it means more production quality and... MUSIC VIDEOS...
And if it does as well as they hope... A TOUR!!!! YAY! |
I wonder if there's gonna be TV commercials and such?? If Hikki gets popular in the US then her album will surely come to Oz!!! yay dream come true.
Haha, I can wait to see how it turns out. Good Luck Hikki! Haha, it would be cool to be buying a Utada's english cd at like Best Buy or something...
I hope "Simple and Clean" will be released as singles in the US first, i've postive(a little) that it'll be a hit, and eventually, the album will be a success too.
Let's just hope it won't turn out to be a let down like COCO lee. |
thanx for the info~
wil be looking forward to hearing it |
Hikaru! Hikaru!.....
I've been waiting since first hearing of her signing to Island Def Jam, and now, its just so close! Must wait few more months..... Edit: Almost forgot to thank you Gakkun. Thanks for the info! :thumbsup |
Thx.. Can't wait till its out.

Thanks! I can't wait!!
Well I guess that didn't work out as well, did it?
Its been 3 years since the post before yours... o_O
Mmm. How old :p
How odd
Did you [the bumper] have to bump this thread?
Yeah it's too bad that her album didn't work out as far as sales...
I wish she had released something closer to "Ultra Blue" in the U.S.! |
wow oldness....but for the bad sales, i blame the label. the music was great...and also, theres a high percentage of people who wont buy the cd cuz she's Japanese. people here only like country and rap music.
^that probably is the reason, that and it had little to no publicity state side. I didn't even know she had released it until a year after it released.
interesting to see how everything ended up. :(
For the bad sales, I blame the label and producers - and Hikki too. It wasn't promoted (very much), and the music, as much as I love Hikki, isn't very good. I like some tracks, but some of the lyrics leave a lot to be desired (which is too bad because her Japanese songs have really good lyrics), and a couple of the tracks were just laughable. (Let Me Give You My Love, anyone?) I heard Hikki say in an interview that it seemed to her Japanese fans were really big on lyrics but they're not so much over here. (A misconception on her part IMO.)

lol... i thought this was a new thread... wehehehe.

I think Exodus is a very original piece of music.
Just compare 2004's Exodus with 2006's Loose by Nelly Furtado. Both Exodus and Loose sound like full of demo songs, like demo tapes - raw and unfinished, random samples, messy sounding. But it works today for Nelly thanks to promotion and she's-already-known factor. The lyrics aren't really that important, since you can pull really stupid stuff as long as it's catchy. Besides she had no flaws in Exodus, Hotel Lobby, Kremlin Dusk. The rest is just... non-conformist, I'd say. That album should be re-issued and re-promoted - everything all over again, IMO. It could have been done better and I'm sure it would have worked. |
^agree.
And I thought she's going to have something English on 2006 >.< |
Yeah. Now we'll be confusing people, lol :P
Oh well.
To me, The Workout is kinda stupid, but still ends up being really catchy, so I like it anyway. But Let Me Give You My Love doesn't have good lyrics OR music. The lyrics are brutal and it's not catchy or interesting. Sometimes you can't get away with it no matter how catchy or weird it may be. |
arrgh got my hopes up thinking this was a new topic!
I love Exodus, the songs are just so different from the normal. I think the album had the potential to do really good, with the right promotion and image. Such a shame... |
