They're really making a-nation '09 all Ayu-centric, haha.

love in music 9th October 2009 08:24 AM

:laugh so many people are mad. but i'm so happy. if there's one person to deserve all their performances on there, it's ayu.

maze 9th October 2009 08:26 AM

I would be satisfied only with Rule, TO BE and Sunrise.. the others are BLEEEEH performances for me D= and her vocals weren't that good >_<

so this is a bad setlist in my opinion XDDDD

Yes, yes great setlist :yes
I agree with the last sentence you wrote.

freedreamer 9th October 2009 08:50 AM

OMG..thiis really gonna coz people to flip. Objectively, Avex is quite unfair here despite Ayu having the best performance. But, since im not some a-nation fan...i dun mind :P

SunshineSlayer 9th October 2009 08:50 AM

Pretty much sucks that not only do the other artists only get 1, but more so that many of them are the same ones that were already aired. Honestly I don't see the point in them putting all of the Ayu performances on the DVD when they were all already all shown on tv. If they hadn't all been shown already, then yes, this would be excellent news. ^_^

Tasked 9th October 2009 09:08 AM

Hahahahaha! Everyone gets 1 and Ayu gets, 8? A third of this event is from her.. I'm glad Im an ayufan. else I wouldn't have started with the hahaha

PinkShinigami 9th October 2009 09:10 AM

Sorry, this is kinda sick.. Why do they do it like this? ... I don't get it. But fair enough, yay for ayu-fans! ^_^ I'm not getting it anyways, no money >.>

Yay, ayu-nation! :laugh

njanjayrp 9th October 2009 09:22 AM

well dvd version is actually the same as TV(everything is the same) so they prefer to put the same performances on dvd. Only last year they added Ayu's performances to dvd which weren't broadcasted

jiarongisme 9th October 2009 10:41 AM

... Wow. I love Ayu but, I think avex has to be more fair to the other artistes. But oh well, what's new about a-nation DVDs?

greenteadrinker 9th October 2009 11:47 AM

Well you know the unconfirmed rumor that A-nation was started with some of Ayu's money so if it's true, it kinda makes sense.

nanakopy87 9th October 2009 11:51 AM

well, she's in charge of the editing too..but other artiste has such privilege?

waterballoon 9th October 2009 11:58 AM

HAHA I shall keep my comments to myself lest my displeasure hurt anyone.

In short: I'm so not happy with the setlist.

Lee^ChaN 9th October 2009 12:00 PM

yeah.. it sux & unfair..

jpopfan018 9th October 2009 12:08 PM

Maybe avex is reserving the segments not broadcasted for the individual artiste's release, it could be included as bonus video footage in their singles/albums. I don't think that is applicable for ayu after all her previous unreleased a-nation performances were included in the bonus dvd in A COMPLETE.

Wow this list is indeed really unfair. But like you say, I went to a-nation just because of Ayu. Then to see the others where just fun imo. ^^ But they really deserved to have some more songs and Ayu less actually.

Unfair or not, many agreed that the TV ver. was relatively boring, besides the Ayu part (+Kumi's Lick Me), so I guess there was no point in putting more boring performances on the DVD. I am glad they added BoA and alan though.

ayumisrael 9th October 2009 01:57 PM

Well...

a-nation '07 DVD sold - 8,721 (Just 4 performances of ayu on the DVD)
a-nation '08 DVD sold - 11,779 (all of ayu's performances on the DVD)

Maybe that's the main reason. :P

The a-nation DVD sales went downward since 2005 but last year when they put all of ayu's performances on it the sales started to pick up but maybe that's just a coincidence of some sort. =P

thinkingoutloud89 9th October 2009 02:06 PM

well I´m a ayu fanbut don´t you think this is ridcilious?

LacusClyne 9th October 2009 02:14 PM

it is unfair to other artists....8 versus 1 songs is just too....

oh well, i see alan's 久遠の河, but why did they put kuu's Esctasy instead of Lick Me????? i was hoping to see that in high quality....

AyUmIXx 9th October 2009 02:18 PM

i feel happy that Ayu still "owns" a-nation 2009, (but most ppl who came to this year's a-nation saying that this year is belong to Tohoshinki, i thought that avex would put more of Tohoshinki).. but yea,i agree with some of u that it's not fair that Ayu has all the performances on the DVD, at least, the other artists should have at least 2 performances.. i hope the sell will do well..

noidea 9th October 2009 02:21 PM

why...only one of alans songs...btw, which one is it? kuon no kawa? gunjou no tani? her song titles all look pretty much the same in japanese xD

I honestly never knew how bad a-nation DVD sales were LOLOLOL

I love how in some ealier tabloid junk they were reporting that "Avex cut the amount of Ayu performances on the DVD due to the drug scandal (was it?). Looks like they cut a whole lot. Lol.

It's just as "true" as the drug scandal was lol.

No, I'm pretty sure it was that they cut the amount of news coverage they gave her compared to earlier years. :) And the drug thing is still under investigation apparently.

polka-dot-jewel 9th October 2009 04:42 PM

I remember ticket sales were down last year because she only performed at the last two shows in Tokyo...

But, in all honesty, Ayu's a great performer. Her vocals may not be top-notch (they've been great this year, though), but she produces GREAT shows. PCDL sold QUICK and it reached #1 on the DVD charts. Many of AT09's shows have sold out, and she even added more shows because that's what her fans wanted.

I think Avex putting all of Ayu's songs on the DVD is a test. This year, they probably did it because she performed at two shows and it was her 10th anniversary. This year, she performed at all the shows, but her concerts have been great, so they're probably doing this to see how well it'll sell.

Corvina 9th October 2009 05:05 PM

You aren't serious?
I can't believe it... I am an Ayu fan, but this is just ridiculous.

Avex is stupid, they even cut Tohoshinki. I'm sure Tohoshinki's fan girlies would have bought the DVD as hell but with just 1 performance? Same with Namie last year.
I'm angry, really angry.
I was looking forward to more Kuu performances and from BoA!

I'm glad alan got one song though!!

But oh dear won't this just make people dislike Ayu more?
Personally I'm not miffed, because she's like the only one I listen to on that list :P
I'm excited to see Rule in DVD quality!!

omg you are serious? O_O
I think the most boring parts were with her performances
a song for, blue bird, sunset and to be.. what fun there was in these? :rolleyes
one of them replaced by maki goto's candy would have been better

noidea 9th October 2009 06:13 PM

^ well, its definitly better than having kuu all over it, her performances on tv version were very boring
and i agree that a song for xx was bad this time, but blue bird and to be definitly belong to her best performances of the last ...year, but well, thats not hard after pcdl and only a few tv performances

OMG I am serious. Ami should totally stop whoring Delightful as it was only amazing in 2005. AAA totally failed to amuse me, Tohos were only fun during Survivor and I am not sure what was Otsuka thinking but she bored me to death. I don't care about Goto as she doesn't have enough talent to suit my needs :innocent

ASFXX, Sunset and TO BE weren't meant to be fun, still they were great and I didn't have troubles watching them more than once.

i have to agree with the whoring of delightful :irked seriously, i get bored and annoyed by the song now. some older artist should have more song included, its just so insane. hitomi, TRF, BoA, kuu has only song? thats too ridiculous, i feel bad for the other artist, avex evil plan is too obvious.

bah, i just found that avex make ELT whoring with dear my friend again @_@ time to change a new song

aura~ 9th October 2009 06:40 PM

OMG--- al artist have only 1 performance while ayu 8!! XDD Well.. for me it's perfect but well... For other artists fans this might be reallt unfair... If it would be in the other way, that ayu had only 1 song there and... idk... kuu had 8... I'd be really upset XDD

jbrat2219 9th October 2009 06:50 PM

I'm not surprised Ayu got all of her songs put on the DVD. She was the better of the performances. But I do think that they should have at least used two DVDs for the performances and knock out that documentary crap.

yeah, I don't really see what is interesting about an a-nation documentary, for most part it was a simply standing on stage or running around on stage with dancers for most artists, not much to show there, not much needing a making-of, because I'm pretty sure we will get the same crap you always get for that kind of concerts: boring documentarys, because you know about everything anyway

fantasma3c 9th October 2009 06:56 PM

Hmm... looks good to me. Idk why people don't like it, as long as it's ayu im fine with it :D.
Thanks man

nemesisyume 9th October 2009 06:57 PM

whoaaaa so much ayu :thud
I wanted more kuu

SKYia 9th October 2009 07:12 PM

Ayu dominated the entire DVD track listing! O_O

truehappiness 9th October 2009 08:48 PM

I think a lot of it has to do with the fact that she's the finale performer and they really can't just give her Boys&Girls/July 1st, haha.

Honestly, in previous years I would have thought it was awesome. But this year, there is really no point since they already aired all of hers on TV anyways. (and in HDTV no less) It's just ridiculous and is indeed not fair. There are actually people who go to A-Nation for other artists. When I went to A-Nation 2007, the seat next to me was open for almost the entire show - then one performer before Otsuka Ai a man finally came and took his seat. After Otsuka, he left and never came back. lol. Point being there are people that are interested in other artists and not just Ayu. With so little of other artists being shown on tv, I would think the better strategy for them would actually be to put more of other artists on the DVD and less of Ayu since everyone that would have bought the DVD for Ayu already got to see everything for free. Stuff like this really does make me think that she has some kind of back room control over how A-Nation goes or something (especially when you hear she does the editing, something I'm sure the other artists don't get to do).

This is more mind boggling than them leaving Namie out of the tv broadcast and the DVD release entirely last year. (Even though she sells the most dvds these days of any of the Avex artists.)

That all comes down to personal preference though. Like you, I felt that many things were boring as well but as I stated in the example above of Otsuka Ai - different people like different types of performances. Not everybody likes the Ayumi style necessarily. But of course most people here will say they found the other performances boring, naturally. :)

Somehow, it's true because avex plays an unfair game with the other artists, but I think it's just because
ayu is avex's best-selling artist though she's best friends with matsuura-san and he owns avex in a way.

SunshineSlayer 9th October 2009 09:25 PM

WOWOW isn't a free channel though, right? It's a pay-to-watch satellite service thing. I think people in general don't really watch the WOWOW broadcast...

AyaCere 9th October 2009 09:37 PM

Yes, it's kinda. Ayu is the most important artist for avex and I'd not wonder when Ayu's one day old and wrinkled to become the president of avex, well I could imgine.

Even if they didn't watch the broadcast, it is still freely and widely available all over the web.

JackieRos 9th October 2009 09:42 PM

yas she deserves her songs
thats so cool

Crystal_Ageha 9th October 2009 10:17 PM

Lol at the setlist. XP I don't think it's unfair. It would be unfair if Ayumi's performances sucked, yet she still got the spotlight. But they're definitely in the top best. So it sucks for the other artists, but that's how it works in the entertainment industry.

emi♡ 9th October 2009 10:28 PM

^No it's not lol

There are other reasons why her performances are all there.

Honestly, I agree that she deserves to have her performances there, but I still think it's unfair to the other artists, and, if they were going to give her so many, they could have at least given the other artists more songs.

And maybe, like jbrat said, cut out the stupid documentary lol

Of course it does. Don't get me wrong, I like many other AVEX artists and even though I am not a fan of all of them I still watch the majority of their tours; Ai Otsuka's concerts have quite improved lately and even before while she was just standing and singing she was more into it than she seemed this year. AAA were also fun the last year riding the cute bicycles xD I dunno, as I said, the majority of people failed me when it comes to their performances and the general feeling they gave out while performing. Even though I like Delightful a lot I think that the only time Ami seemed like she was actually having fun was in 2005.

dreamland2.0 9th October 2009 10:53 PM

Why don't they just make the DVD longer, and put a ton of artist's songs on it, jack up the price, and make more money??
Come on, isn't that avex's favourite thing to do?

I guess they are aware it's not worth the investment, as the a-nation DVDs don't sell that much.

At least there are a lot of fancams for THSK at a-nation :) Eat You Up with live band sounded so nice from the fancam too :(

Yeah, honestly if its more copies they are interested in selling, they should have included all of THSK (I don't even like them either). I'm sure their fans would have bought the dvd and in more mass numbers than people would for Ayu judging by their recent dvd sales.

I only want Alan and the documentary XD
the TV ver. was better imo

love in music 10th October 2009 01:18 AM

i hope the same thing happens next year too, lmao. (it probably will :P)

yuki_unmei 10th October 2009 01:49 AM

^ lol same here, i don't care if it's Ayu-Nation :D

NintendoHTF1242 10th October 2009 02:07 AM

I'm an Ayu fan and even I would say that avex is being unfair. Might as well call it "AYUMI'S MINI-CONCERT (with other artists to fill in the time)"

i love it, i want to actually buy it but all the other artists would probably bring it down. (srsly all they are is like a boring prelude to her). they should have just kicked them all off and made it only ayu :laugh

mcluva420 10th October 2009 05:22 AM

yesss...alan got something <3
I better see BoA doing the moonwalk >:]
and oh, i think kuu definitely deserves more songs on the DVD!!

lalala...this is ayu-nation ;)

waterballoon 10th October 2009 05:40 AM

:rolleyes if we really wanted an all-Ayu thing and the other singers are a "boring prelude" or whatever... avex should have made a "a-nation 09 SPECIAL: Ayumi Hamasaki mini concert!" DVD to shut us up.

But no. They decided that, "Oh we will just let Ayu have the same amt of songs shown in TV, and we will cut a little off the rest!"

I remember someone saying that the TV broadcast is just about the same as the DVD, that's why they also didn't bother showing other songs from other singers (seriously, Kuu's ECSTASY, Tohoshinki's Survivor? We have seen those on WOWOW), then they shouldn't even have bothered putting a single Ayu song in it then. :)

I don't think it's wrong to put all of 8 Ayu songs in the DVD, but I think it's wrong to just limit one song to each other artist, and also the song being shown on TV already. It's ridiculous, unfair and biased.

Tom Punks 10th October 2009 05:52 AM

^ Well maybe/hopefully no one will buy it and avex will learn from their mistake. :yes

jbrat2219 10th October 2009 06:16 AM

I wonder what the Japanese fans think of this... after all, they are the primary consumers (wow this term makes me think of Biology :laugh).

waterballoon 10th October 2009 06:18 AM

^ Lol we are like the decomposers or something, XD

Well, I wonder what they think of the tracklist too... that will be interesting to know

SunshineSlayer 10th October 2009 06:29 AM

^ Well, on Amazon at least its started getting complaints. Notice that the 2 five star comments were made long before the DVD track list was actually known. The most recent ones are all 1 star. Still only a few comments total though.

jbrat2219 10th October 2009 06:32 AM

well.. hopefully these other artists will have an "A COMPLETE" with their a-nation unreleased performances :laugh thus, these bad setlists (2008/09) wouldn't be annoying for me XD

douggn 10th October 2009 07:05 AM

Yay, they kept all ayus songs :D Ill have to get the dvd now :P

maikaru 10th October 2009 07:15 AM

I think it's a bit weird that Ayumi gets all of her songs, I will not complain.
Hasn't A-Nation been Ayumi's showcase from the start of A-Nation?
With her being the final act for all her appearances, and her being the final act on the final day,
I always feel like A-Nation just builds up for her ending~~!

I am also pretty sure that Ayumi is not behind the scenes as an evil scientist,
Saying "No other act shall be given time!! The popularity is mine, mine, mine!!"
Especially since she openly promoted Tohoshinki with her towel during the actual performance.
Even reading those suggestion make me laugh out loud seriously. ww

I also believe that many of these artists requested for their footage not to be included,
Or decided by the producers not to be included so they could be included in releases for these artists.
I am pretty sure we will see a DVD with Tohoshinki's performances on it.

And I read somewhere in the beginning pages, but yeah, WOWOW is a pay to see cable channel,
And also not many people can find A-Nation movies on the internet because Avex is taking them down quickly,
So I think most people have not seen A-Nation movies yet.

Anyways, Im glad about this~~it's more exposure for Ayumi~
I cant wait for next year!

SunshineSlayer 10th October 2009 07:21 AM

^ Not originally no. The first A-Nation I think was in 2000 (but it was called something else then) and Ayu at the time was treated as a regular performer. Also back in the 90s Avex used to have a summer festival called Avex Dance Matrix which was basically the precursor to the A-Nation we know now.

About the Tohoshinki towel thing. It was a nice gesture on Ayu's part. I think the suggestion that she did it at least partially to get the audience on her side though has at least some merit to it - there were a lot of Tohoshinki fans in that audience.

pommy48 10th October 2009 07:24 AM

Oh well, don't really listen to the other artists~ at least alan will be on it~

So how have a-nation DVDs done over the years? Does anyone have sales?

SunshineSlayer 10th October 2009 07:27 AM

^ Someone posted the sales from the last 2 years and basically they sell like crap. :) Last year the sales went up by a few thousand copies when they included all the Ayumi performances, but last year they also hadn't shown all her performances on tv first (or did it? my memory is rusty about last years), so I guess we will have to wait and see how the sales turn out this year.

ownsarai 10th October 2009 07:41 AM

It is a little bit strange that everyone else has 1 song and Ayu has the most time. But I'm not going to complain. In my opinion, her performances were some of the best. So congratulations to Ayu. :) I won't be buying it, though. No money. :weep

yoshino 10th October 2009 08:49 AM

yeah! They did the right thing with so many Ayu's songs!! hahaz.. the DVD will be so great!

Not~Yet 10th October 2009 08:55 AM

Lol imo this is nice :laugh But I understand why some are upset. It is a little unfair. I think, for AHS, this is a bit bad time for this because so many seem to despise Ayu or something and be in love with other artists.. :laugh;

The original name of a-nation was Avex Summer Fest, I remember seeing a very LQ stream of Ayu performing Fly High in 2000 (?), however they only started releasing DVDs since 2003 as far as I know.

To people who are saying it's strange Ayu has more songs than the others - there is nothing strange about it as it's been like that for years, regardless of who was truly the most popular atm :) - get used to it.

asmAyumi1992 10th October 2009 09:56 AM

Yay! Ayu's Rule!

Blasterion 10th October 2009 11:02 AM

yay for Ayu!
..
but I feel sorry for the other awesome artists who only get to have one song on the DVD...

LizBrazil 10th October 2009 02:01 PM

Well, this makes up for the Japanese Tohoshinki fans :P

On the 31st of October, Tohoshinki [TOHOSHINKI THE LIVE 2009] will be on giant screens in cinemas, showing their Tokyo Dome live, A-nation live, etc. It will be on at all 19 cinemas nationwide, which shows how influential and powerful Tohoshinki is right now.

How epic xD; Well that's why THEY weren't on the DVD that much lol.

Hydeki 10th October 2009 11:43 PM

All of Ayu songs? wow... I find it a bit disappointing.... It's good for me, because I love ayu, but I can understand that other people not.... It a little unjust.

majrakun 11th October 2009 01:52 AM

^ I thought monochrome was from a-nation 07? And it didn't even get into A COMPLETE :eviltongu

SunshineSlayer 11th October 2009 03:00 AM

^ Yeah, it was from A-Nation 07.
