Yaaaay ! ^o^ I've been waiting for new material from her <3

U-GO-BOY 19th October 2009 12:17 PM

yeah, me too :)

*-_Ayu-fan_-* 19th October 2009 01:39 PM

look do you think this is the New Single? I'ts only a DEMO

Sundae 19th October 2009 04:41 PM

What's the countdown on her official website for? The new single or the reopening of the website?

hpg23 19th October 2009 09:04 PM

Nowadays even demos leak xD

ALPHY 20th October 2009 12:25 AM

Does she ever have any input into her own songs other than providing vocals?

ストロボ・EdGE 20th October 2009 08:17 PM

Her official website is now streaming Russian Roulette, the first single off the new album. I LOVE it! The cover is pretty awesome too.

http://www.rihannanow.com

I love that R graphic.

keepsgettinbetter 20th October 2009 09:01 PM

Russian Roulette doesn't really go anywhere. It's lacking in... something. Her first singles are always huge songs, this is lacking that huge factor that Pon De Replay/SOS/Umbrella had. Ah well. :/

milky_way 20th October 2009 09:06 PM

I don't like the new song. I was hoping for something more upbeat :(

U-GO-BOY 20th October 2009 09:10 PM

I love Russian Roulette very much <3

GRACE 20th October 2009 09:12 PM

Russian Roulette is really powerful <3 I love it

ストロボ・EdGE 20th October 2009 10:20 PM

I was expecting Te Amo as the lead single but I really like RR too. The gun shot at the end is very powerful and so are the lyrics, but I do agree with Keepsgettinbetter in that it lacks that "huge factor". I still hope it does well though!

It's received very little promotion taking the fact that it will come out in 33 days.

koumori 20th October 2009 10:35 PM

Just listened to Russian Roulette <3 I think it does have that special something, it's lyrics are actually quite deep and her voice carries it very well. I think it'll go down well with the public as a low-toned power ballad ^-^ It's something different from her well-publicised Disturbia and Umbrella.

ストロボ・EdGE: I know right? Rihanna is HUGE in the U.K and yet I haven't even heard one bit of news of her new album, never mind of a new single o-o; It's weird, cause the news of all her other singles hit the presses like, three months before release. xD

*-_Ayu-fan_-* 20th October 2009 10:55 PM

mmhh Russian Roulette ... It's ok but I was think It were like Umbrella a super Hit

but Russian Roulette it's very special , It has something but I don't know what

GRACE 21st October 2009 04:06 AM

I think Russian Roulette's defining moment is not in the actual singing, but that moment just at the end when she takes a nervous breath and the gun goes off

PoetGirl 21st October 2009 04:14 AM

i usually dont like rihanna, but Russian Roulette is an amazing song. i really love it. you cant hear her bad vocals in it, she sounds quite good in the song. im surprised!

CoriKaru 21st October 2009 05:16 AM

It's said that "Russian Roulette" will feature a new rapper. Drake perhaps?

And the song apparently was co-written with Ne-Yo. Bleh.

I'm about to listen to the song now. Given the Ne-Yo news, I doubt I'll like it.

NO. THEY'RE NOT GONNA CHANGE IT ARE THEY!?

CoriKaru 21st October 2009 05:45 AM

^ No they aren't going to change it. I made a mistake. That rumor is concerning the second rumored single, which is supposedly going to be "The Wait Is Ova."

GRACE 21st October 2009 05:50 AM

^Thank you god...

ALPHY 21st October 2009 05:53 AM

Wow, grungy.

Calico 21st October 2009 06:33 AM

I like it. Not sure it's the strongest possible first single but I still like it.

Russian Roulette is different from what I expected but I really love it. Her voice sounds amazing <3

Aw, but don't you like Disturbia? Ne-yo wrote that for himself but then decided it was too feminine and passed it onto Rihanna. It's one of my favorite songs by her. I'm not sure about this one, but I'm assuming he also wrote or co-wrote Hate That I Love You.

CoriKaru 21st October 2009 08:31 PM

^Yup, surprisingly enough I did like "Disturbia." Not instantly, but it quickly grew on me.

But I was under the impression that Chris Brown wrote "Disturbia." I didn't know "Ne-Yo" was involved.

I didn't like "Hate That I Love You" though. It felt odd and out of place. Was it ever popular?

Probably remix should be good. Well it is produced by Ne-yo. He is a friend of Rihanna, perhaps that is the reason?

Thanks, I think it is a material for remix.

I just don't like she tries to "push herself stronger" few times while singing this song.

ストロボ・EdGE 2nd November 2009 03:37 AM

I can't say I like the cover, but I think the new album title is clever.

koumori 3rd November 2009 05:25 AM

Pssh, I love the cover. She's going a bit more gothic/dark with her style and I love it.

ストロボ・EdGE 3rd November 2009 02:16 PM

^ For me I think it looks too high fashion, like her Italian Vogue photo shoot, to be the cover of an album.

So apparently Russian Roulette is not about Chris Brown, according to Ne-yo.

It is not about Chris Brown, but it implies Chris Brown. LOL :rolleyes:rolleyes:rolleyes

koumori 3rd November 2009 09:08 PM

^ I think when she sings it, she has no other choice but to remember what happened with him to be honest. >_>; And even if it was, would they really admit it? It would just fuel the flames of a dying publicity war.

my most favorite rihanna song has to be Disturbia
and i love the mv is so awesome

ストロボ・EdGE 3rd November 2009 11:15 PM

I absolutely love the video for Wait Your Turn... it combines so many different styles together that only Rihanna could pull off.

From the three songs I've heard from this upcoming album (Te Amo, Russian Roulette, Wait Your Turn), it really seems that she's bady injured or even traumatized... there seems to be so much pain behind it.

GRACE 3rd November 2009 11:52 PM

Hard feat. Jeezy leaked. Rihanna's parts (the majority of the song) are good, but I don't like the rapper

GRACE 5th November 2009 10:51 PM

CoriKaru 5th November 2009 11:22 PM

I was going to get up this morning to watch it, then I realized I had even fallen asleep yet to get up.

So I'll just catch it tomorrow at 10pm on ABC.

Chris Brown will be talking about it again as well on MTV this Saturday or next Saturday. One of these Saturday. Nothing that much different from Larry King. (I've seen blurbs)

I'm expecting a lot of "Like Whoa"'s, and a lot of Rhetorical Questions he proposes to himself that he can't answer. Meh.

Woah I thought the.exact.same.thing.

I'm a big fan of Rihanna but I've never actually seen her interviewed. Until now I didn't even know she had a slight accent and it felt very odd to me to hear her speak like that. I know she's from Barbados and all but still, never hearing that accent in her music I thought she had an American accent; and I too felt it was endearing.

I don't think she's doing it ONLY to promote the album, but she will use the interview to input her album. Thus promoting the album. Her PR people would be stupid not to. I don't think people should look down on her for that. It is an event that happened to her and she has every right to talk about it and use it anyway she wants. I'm sure some of the tracks were influenced by it.

Look at Chris Brown. Releasing an album and using the event to promote the album. AND he's on the villain of the piece so he looks the worst out of the two to me. Even with his mommy sitting next to him.

ストロボ・EdGE 7th November 2009 08:19 PM

Well, she would've been asked about this anyway during promo, so it's better to just get it out of the way.

CoriKaru 9th November 2009 12:18 AM

I saw the Interview. She said some things that had me going, "Ugh."

I felt bad when she got beat up, but beyond that and after seeing this interview, I really don't feel anything more for her. And the timing of this interview is no coincidence.

Rihanna isn't an Album seller, and they're trying to change that. Selling her Album and creating buzz for it is a part of this whole thing.

I went out last night and heard some people say how they had to turn the interview off, because they couldn't finish because Rihanna was just giving half truths. Leaving stuff out. And how she said that she's glad it happened to her for whatever reason. I must say, I felt like she gave the incident and the role she's playing now a little bit more importance than is warranted but meh.

And she wouldn't say she wouldn't go back with him "because she isn't god." You don't have to be god to know the answer to that. ('-')

I even heard jockies on the Radio saying how Rihanna is milking this. Saying she doesn't want to be the victim and then singing a song about suicide and how the whole thing was becoming rather off putting. People were calling and and texting in to the Radio rather perturbed as well.

I wouldn't have done the interview and honestly didn't see any reason to do so beyond hype.

ストロボ・EdGE 9th November 2009 01:43 AM

LEAVE RIHANNA ALOOOOONE!!

Well, actually, like I said in the post you quoted, she said directly she was glad it happened to her so she could help other girls.

It's great that she wants to help other girls who are in the situation she faced, but I don't think that was the best way to express it.

totally get your point, but watch the interview in detail, her emotion mood is changing from stable to something bad while she talks about Chris Brown. We probably don't know how deep it affects her , and she doesn't know how to express it.

^Exactly. Rihanna is still young and not all that wise so yeah. Not really the person to go to for wisdom on this issue. Another reason I feel this whole situation was given more importance than deemed worthy. It's an important issue, but a 20/20 Rihanna Interview and a Larry King Chris Brown Interview? No. 20/20 did do amazing with the 18 to 34 demographic, which it says is its main demographic although it never does spectacular with those viewers.

Chris came out with a statement to MTV, and he's mad Rihanna came out with the details. He said it should have stayed a "private matter". ('-')

Yeah, like her raped face in that photo was private. She was the humiliated victim.......until she went back to him. Then she was just the fool in that moment. And let's not forget Chris went on Larry King AND did those other videos. So yeah........

I'm so glad Chris's concerts are failing and tickets aren't selling.

But now you are making me to find the bt source :P

.... why does she change her style?

I hope her next album will do better

Ahm, sorry, but Rihanna only had one album, Good Girl Gone Bad, and it was 7th best selling album worldwide for 2008.
Oh yeah, she isn't an album seller at all. :rolleyes

PoetGirl 14th November 2009 03:48 PM

She did not have only one album! Lol, she had a girl like me and music of the sun.

freedreamer 14th November 2009 03:51 PM

Where's our Disturbia girl.... :(
I agree that Russian Roulette is amazing but the rest...haiz..im disappointed too

but its definitely a more mature Rihanna, which shows thru her voice and music. I'm proud of that but...the music and style needs to be there too

Ok, sorry, I've never heard of them. lol
But I've researched now and Music of the Sun sold about 2 million worldwide and A Girl like me about 3 million.
So I wouldn't call her "not an album seller". :shrug

I wouldn't doubt if a lot of those copies sold after GGGB was released. Rihanna has always had a hard time selling albums, Pon De Replay was a huge hit but the album tanked in comparison. The same thing happened with S.O.S./Unfaithful.

I really am liking the new album. Its obvious that she is trying to prove something, and after awhile it kind of starts to grate on your nerves. Other than that its a solid effort. I think most people are let down because they expected GGGB part 2.

U-GO-BOY 14th November 2009 04:45 PM

I think the album is okay.. it's nothing special and I don't like her change :/ I wanted some party songs..
I like Wait Your Turn, Hard, Russian Roulette and i <3 Fire Bomb.. the other songs are so-so

and I liked the RR PV, I loved the scenes in the water <3

PoetGirl 14th November 2009 05:00 PM

yes, i agree with Fitst. rihanna really become popular with umbrella,
but other than that i personally cant get into her music.
i like 2 of her songs take a bow and unfaithful, but her voice is killing
everything. on new album you can also hear how her voice is weak
and annoying.

Maemi 14th November 2009 06:56 PM

I just listened to the whole Rated R and I must say it wasted my time. It's unbelieving boring. I like only Russian Roulette. :no

koumori 15th November 2009 07:32 AM

Eh, the album is okay. Based off the comments here, I was expecting complete crap - but it's not that bad at all xD I like most of the songs.

~ At the argument ~

Guys, please grow up :/ This is a thread to talk about her music .. hopefully in a positive way. And if you've only liked two of her songs and have just posted negative-negative-negative since then, I can't understand why you're still here. Sure post one bad review and still check it out, but to continue is just baiting Rihanna fans =o=;

TITANIC 16th November 2009 01:59 PM

from Rated R, i only like :
1. Wait your turn
2. Stupid in love
3. russian roulette
thats all.. the others are so damn boring. I dont like her new image
She's good in upbeat song like dont stop the music or breakin dishes

Maemi 16th November 2009 02:09 PM

I don't know about everyone else, but I find this album too "mature" for her. Like she's going in a totally wrong direction.

Sundae 17th November 2009 07:00 AM

Well, they did describe the album as edger and totally different than what we are used to. That being said, I also wanted something like GGGB but I don't mind this sound either. This album is cohesive. That dark sound is in every song. Also I love her voice in this album. She has this rough edge to her voice that fits great with this sound. It's good that she doesn't want to be doing the same sound. They've been pumping this up to be like her Janet. or Velvet Rope. It's not that. It's too much of the same to be like those albums. Don't have favorite songs yet. Still listening.

Is it me or is Jay-Z not on this album?

sora-kara 17th November 2009 10:08 PM

I found the first five tracks to be really boring.
but from 6 onwards i really enjoyed it.

i dont like that hard is the second single though. :/
